Passed ICND1 a month ago, sims on this site were on the exam, very happy I went through them all a day before writing. I used pass4sure dumps to get a grip on the exam scenario – used Train Signal videos which were great. Thanks 9tut for the excellent information and opportunity to talk to people in similar positions. Purchasing the CCNA study guide from briantadvantage was also a great help with the videos, even though it covers much of the same topics. Good luck to all of you writing soon!

My first International exam, well worth the time I put into it!

    Passed ICND1 just 40 minutes ago… got 987/1000 *__*

Got the security teslet (although totally changed)..

Got 2 drag and drop Q’s on the test today, which i found in the comments:
    Q1
    Frame relay = packet switching
    ATM = cell switching
    PPP = leased line
    PSTN = circuit switching

Q2 was about DNS, DHCP, TFTP, FTP, SNMP.

Got the exact same question as the “Implementation sim”, even the numbers where the same

Got the “show configuration sim” the subnet on Q1 was /29. Also the numbers on the other Q’s were different.

Got a question with two routers and an output from R1 the showed V.35, but no DTE or DCE so i figured the cable was disconnected

Got a question about how many bits to borrow for networks in class B (ans 14)

Got question about evenly splitting networks and hosts (ans 10xxxxxx)

Also a few questions about source and destination addresses (IP & MAC)

    Finally a few subnetting Questions…..

    That’s all i can remember,,,,

    Studied using CBTNuggets, 9tut, examcollections.com

Now on to ICND2. Many thanks to Joe Mendola, xallax, Sean, and on top of all 9tut…

Took ICND 1 for the 2nd time and only got an 812. I did not study enough but the brain dumps helped me pass today.90% of the questions here are still valid on the exam. I went back thru the Lead2Pass .pdf as best I could and listed all of the vaild questions. DORA q.334, Sh CDP neighbors q.317. I also got some weird question twards the end asking which device is a physical layer? I went with hub. I see alot of patterns with some of the questions here. LOTS of them are all asked in a row.

@everyone who passed: how long yall study? cisco dumps seem hard to memorize!!??

  7. Big_Daddy
    April 22nd, 2012

The reason the dumps are hard to memorize is because you need to know the material. Memorizing the dumps will not help, if you don’t know material. These dumps are used for deep understanding of why the answers is the answer.

how do i get a copy of the Lead2Pass .pdf

  9. Jay
    April 23rd, 2012

    @xexes
Don’t try and memorize all of the answers on the brain dumps, they are just another study aid. You need to study the material and understand how it will work. The answers are also mixed up so what might appear here as A,D,E might be B,E,F on the real exam.
    @anonx
There is a copy of that PDF on the previous page 13.

    hello,

does anyone know where to get a good CCNA kit (cisco routers and switch) for study purposes. I am a hands on person, and want to learn the material better other than using the simulator.

has anyone purchased the kit from this site?

I take my ICND1 tomorrow at 9:45am. I’m very sure I’ll pass, because I read over both CCNA press books from college while I was in CCNA Academy. Not only did I read both books, but I also used 9tut, Cbtnuggets, and dumps. I understand concepts extremely well wish me luck 🙂

Just passed today in US with a 925. Definitely do all the questions on 9tut and Lead2Pass. I used the Packet Tracer for labs, and it help tremendously. You have to understand the subnet calculations and practice the math, otherwise you won’t pass. I find it more convenient to google the materials/commands that I don’t know instead of viewing the cbt and reading the CCNA books.

    Hi Guys

As promised. Just back from exam passed with 974

    Subnetting is a must!
Know the WAN, DHCP,Protocol drag en drops.
Got implementation sim 1, the security sim (100%) an few other that I can’t remember.
I’m just so relieved that I passed!
9TUT is a MUST, use lead2pass and build the labs using packet tracer and you’ll be fine.
For heaven’s sake don’t memorize answers as they do get changed in the exam.

Best of luck to you all!!!

I passed ICND1 about 30mins ago with 900/1000. Know this test is a BEAST!!! it’s so freaking nerve racking. People PLEASE! before you test understand the material. About 30% of dump questions were on the test, 50% new questions, and loads of sub netting questions. The simulations from this site are 100% that’s valid, but there are also new drag and drops questions:

    DHCP
    Discover
    Offer
    Request
    Acknowledge
    Remember (DORA)

Also one with: (Can’t Remember the question)

Can someone explain this question to me I don’t know what they asking.

How many subnets and host can you get if you subnet the 172.16.0.0/23 network with a /27 subnet mask?

CVE Answer says: 16 Subnets 30 Host
    My answer: 8Subnets 32Hosts

    How I did it

    000|00000

    2^3 = 8 Subnets
    2^5= 32 Host

    If I VLSM

    /23 to /27 = 4bits = 16 Subnets
    Starting at /27 = 5 Host Bits = 30 Hosts
    000|00000

    Man I’m confused 🙁

  24. Anonymouse
    April 27th, 2012

    Passed today. 925/804
Things I recall that were on my exam:
    -9tut Implementation SIM
    -9tut Show Configuration Sim
    -9tut WAN Questions: 5
    -9tut Security Testlet
    -9tut Operations Question 3
    -9tut subnetting Question 4

Drag & Drop question on Leased/point to point circuit. Not on 9tut or dumps. Can’t remember the details, but others have referenced it here. I did not research it, and thought it would be the same as the one in the 9tut ccda section, but it was different. I *think* I got it right, but I can’t remember.

There was another drag & drop question on Leased/point to point circuit. Not on 9tut or dumps. It was talked about here,
it was about ICMP, UDP,etc. don’t recall details but it was protocol related.

    For studying used:
    – 9tut – ICND1 sections, and READ the comments!
http://www.ciscovce.com – ICND questions from Xallax. Pay the man. He’s making an effort, and is excellent on customer service.
    – Cisco Press Exam study guide
    – Cisco.Lead2pass.640-822.v2012-04-06.by.Daniel.339q.vce
(Yes, I know it’s a lot of questions. But it’s a great way to practice). I cleaned up the
questions using the designer to get rid of the annoying placements of banners. It’s
not necessary but distracting to me.
    – I paid for examcollection.com. I use them as a guide also when I study as just another
    resource.

    Some tips:
    – BUY the Visual Cert Exam suite for $30.
It’s a good investment. (I don’t work for them, but if I use a product enough, I pay for it).
    – Use the designer after practicing to make a new VCE that has questions deleted out that
you know. Load that new VCE file as your focus questions. It works for me. That way, I
don’t have to work on the questions that I know cold. I can also edit out any misplaced
text banners that interfere with reading of questions. I also use it to edit the VCE files that
have exams broken out into seperate sections Like EXAM A, EXAM B, etc. I move all the
sections back into EXAM A, so I can have all the questions in one shot. (I’m a bit of a
mental case about things like that, and in my mind, I will keep thinking about the questions
in the other areas that I need to remember to do, so I just fix it that way).

Apologies for the rambling, but I wanted to contribute my experience and hopefully help.
As always, learn the material….but this site certainly helps in preparing to pass the exam!

    April 27th, 2012

    @dga
    172.16.0.0/23 network with a /27

you are given just one small subnet with a mask of /23.
    172.16.0.0 ~ 172.16.1.255
now you subnet that small subnet into smaller subnets with a /27 mask.
    /27 means 255.255.255.224, increment 32, 2*8 = 16 subnets with 30 hosts per subnet.

wow… the above answer was given in just a few seconds. lets try to elaborate it. here we go again.

    172.16.0.0/23 network with a /27
how many bits for subnets? an extra 4 bits (27-23 = 4, obvious). this means 2^4 = 16 subnets
how many bits for hosts? 5 (32-27 = 5). how many IPs on each subnet? 2^5 = 32 IPs.
how many IPs usable by hosts on each subnet? 30 (32-2 = 30. we discard the network and broadcast addresses)

final answer: 16 subnets, 30 hosts each

Passed my icnd1 a few days ago. Hope this helps. It was probably the most fair Cisco test I’ve ever taken. No ambiguous questions (which is what Cisco used to be known for).

Short commands (e.g. show ip int brie) ARE allowed. The “?” is also allowed.
Not sure about TAB key, as I didnt’ try it.

    no dhcp or dns configs
    no ip rip config
no SDM, NAT, IPv6, RIP questions

Didn’t have to configure any device, so I can’t say whether or not they take off for not saving your config.

Know the very basics of what DHCP and DNS are used for

For one drag and drop, one of the items was something about checking connectivity to a device. There was no ping command, but one choice was icmp. Since ping uses icmp, that was the best choice.

Subnetting, subnetting, subnetting!!!! As many have already said, if you don’t know how to subnet, you are SCREWED! Know how to determine the network address, broadcast address, the first and last host on a subnet.

Couple of questions about switching where they mentioned a NIC had been replaced and was, say a 100Mbps NIC. A partial switch config was shown and you could see the port was set for 1Gig. The speed mismatch caused the port to show down.

Another question that showed a user sitting at a PC, it was connected to a switch, the switch to a router, the router to a switch, then the switch to a server. They said that someone had just installed the switch and server and the server couldn’t be reached. What is the problem? The
key here is they showed the type of cable between the router and switch. It was a crossover cable. You need a straighthrough between a router and switch. So, KNOW YOUR CABLING and when to use a rollover, crossover, and straighthrough.

Bring ear plugs (I’ve heard some testing facilities provide them). Highly recommend you use them to block out any noise.

only one question I don’t see anywhere, a drag and drop… I dont remember the items of this.

Note : Security Testlet – Banner response is a valid response!!!!! in router and switch questions I put Banner and have 100% in this item.

thanks all, and good luck for everybody…

Has anyone found any incorrect answers in the lead2pass dump?

Question 318 is confusing, they say as consider the packets as they leave Router B towards A. But the answer shows going from A to B?

  47. Anonymous
    May 9th, 2012

Yes, the question does say from Router B to Router A, but the answer shows Router A to Router B. That has to be a typo. Just rearrange the source and dest mac addresses that is in the answer.

    took icnd1 passed with 850…

implementation sim was there. The one with “show cdp neighbor” / show controller serial 0/0

there was other simulation with 1 switch / 1 router. you have to know the security risk on it. I haven’t seen this one before so know the security risk like (no password on telnet, local login only etc etc)

thank god i didn’t get implement simulation 2 or rip simulation

they changed it so that no shutdown should be “interface fa0/0” / no shutdown
they changed it from serial to fastethernet so watch out for that

DHCP order of sending remember that one

  52. Sparkydog20
    May 10th, 2012

I passed ICND1 with 925/1000. I used a Cisco class, How2pass.com and 9tut.com as well as using Packet tracer to create network simulations to practice with and help with understanding how all this works. Before you test you should be able to identify sub-networks, their broadcast addresses and the associated hosts. I spent the time to be able to create a subnetting chart from memory with the possible B and C subnets. Also be able read the sh run and sh version printouts and understand them completely…

    Thanks for the reply Matt,

I’ve found some other questions im not sure with on the lead2pass dump,

Q94) How do you know An external CSU/DSU is not in use? and the answer says a clock rate is not set. But in the output the clockrate is 2000000!

    Q118)Need help understanding.

Q154) Should the subnet mask be 255.255.255.248?

    Q182) I don’t understand this.

    Q255) Need help understanding.

    Q256) Need help understanding.

Q298) Is this incorrect because the switches are connected with a straight through, and should be a crossover?

    Q314)Need help understanding.

    Q338)Need help understanding.

    Thanks

    Passed with a 950! 40 Mins Left
    Time – 5 Weeks Approx.

    CBT Nuggets – ICND1
    Odom – Second Ed.
Boson – (much harder than the exam in my opinion)
    Lead2Pass – (Very helpful)
    Packet Tracer
VCE Mobile – (Worth it for on the go studying)
    http://www.SubnettingQuestions.com
    9TUT!!!!!!

Sims on here and Lead2Pass still valid. SubnettingQuestions saved me! Keep going until you can answer every single IP Address questions in your head, it’ll save you so much time on the exam. I didn’t even have to use the marker boards and scored 100% in that section.

Goodluck to all ~ Don’t let your nerves get to you, even if you fail, you’ll know what to expect next time!

AHHHH — I HIT BACKSPACE AND MY REPLY GOT DELETED =(

    @indo

    ….. I’ll summarize what I was typing:

Use Lead2Pass as examples — the format of the questions are closer to the exam than the Boson version questions.

Go to http://www.SubnettingQuestions.com and be able to answer each one in your head ~ believe me, it’s possible! Just practice practice practice!

The SIM examples on here are valid on the exam, study each one and fully understand it.

Use Packet Tracer to be familiar with typing in commands, you’ll feel more comfortable as to what you’re doing. (Try building the same SIMs on there).

Study all the Drag and Drops on 9Tut and Lead2Pass.

The most important thing to understand, is that you’re not just studying to pass this exam, but to build knowledge for your career. As they say, the value of CCNA is worth much more than the term “Paper CCNA”.

Passed on 2nd try, proves it can be done.
2nd attempt people: don’t give up, you can do it!
    1. Get the practice materials by Xallax at http://www.ciscovce.com – cost is peanuts – it saved me hours and hours. They are really on point! X provides great explanations for answers.
    2. P4sure is still a good resource for concepts covered, but you better lookup all options in the answers and know the concepts because both question and answer can be slightly different thus changing both.
    3. VAS above is correct ESP about subletting.com – the phrasing of questions there are similar to the exam.
    4. Practice your labs.
Thank you to all who came before and X.

Passed my ICND1 today, 950/1000. I had the security testlet, implementation sim, and show configuration sim.
I finished the Exploration courses at my local technical college then watched all the CBTNuggets for ICND1, read the whole CiscoPress ICND1 book, then whittled away at the Lead2Pass braindump and the braindump sold by xallax. That’s basically all the questions on this site, in VCE format – it’s worth the money and its cheap.
Almost everything (95%) on my test was in the Lead2Pass or here.
Thanks – looking forward to ICND2

I passed ICND1 today with a score of 962/1000. Lead2pass & Boson lab simulators were the most helpful.

    I used:
    *CBT Nuggets & Train Signal
    *Boson Simulator/practice exams
    *Pass4sure
    *Lead2pass
    *9tut
    *Subnettingquestions.com

I found the icnd1 exam to be a mirror of the Lead2Pass practice exam engine to be honest… a big thank you to 9tut for the sims, and everything that is on this site as this helped me emmensly.
The following sims that are on this website were on the exam:

    Security testlet – Q1
    ARP testlet – Q1
    Implementation SIM 2 – Q2
    Operations – Q1, Q3, Q5
    Subnetting – Q3
Ps.none of the drag and drops that are on this site were on my exam.

I didnt bother with the Boson practise exam engine, i found it to be way to complicated in the way that all the questions are asked.
I used the ccna cbt nugget videos, ccna exploration v4 books x 4, and the lead2pass exam engine and 9tut only to pass the icnd1 exam. I hope this info is useful.

    thanks

    2) Cisco Press Lab practice – 1 week – an hour daily
    3) 9tut on day before exam – 2 hours

thanks to the community from the bottom of my heart.

Passed today ICND1 with 962/1000. took me 1 hour, do not get scared if your first question is a simlet that is not in here …. just read carefully the questions, cisco vce , thanks xallax , excellent, 90% of the questions were from 640-822 from daniel 339 questions.

    material used :

    my lab at home
    cisco packet tracer
    cisco 640-822 guide 3rd version
    subnet, subnet, subnet …
you should be able to make any calculation without pen and paper ….

    Hi all.
Where can I find “atm frame relay cell” for ICND!?
I am taking test this week. Can somebody help me with this because I was thinking that frame relay for eg. will be covered in ICND2…

  80. Phenom
    June 1st, 2012

@Marina, you just have to know the basics of frame relay for ICND1.

    Packet switching – Frame relay
    Cell switching – ATM
Leased lines – Point to Point
    Circuit switching – PSTN

  81. Torombolo
    June 1st, 2012

I just passed ICND1 with 912/1000. I thought it was going to be higher but it still okay.

I got the WAN protocols(Frame Relay, ATM…) and DORA drag and drop, and two unexpected questions about 802.11. There is also a DNS, ARP, ICMP and I think it was FTP drag and drop. There were several questions about subnetting, but they were all easy to answer.

Make sure you understand the LabSim. I was confused at one point in a simulator that asked about the subnet mask of an interface. The subnet mask won’t show with the show ip interface brief command, and the show runnning-config was disabled. Use the show interface fa0/1 (or whatever is the interface) command to see the mask.

I hope this is helpful and good luck to everybody.

  82. Marina
    June 1st, 2012

By the way forgot to mention that I had this question:

    Question 5:

The hosts in the LAN are not able to connect to the Internet. Which commands will correct this issue?

It was not s0/0 but the fa0/1 that was administratively shut down (you run “show ip interface brief” no see this interface) but when I ran “show ip interface” to find out the mask for 1st question it was showing fa0/1 as up and protocol up. So be aware of this. I guess cisco don’t attach one question to another or maybe it was just a bug….

  83. Bo
    June 5th, 2012

Took the ICND1 today. Passed with a 887. Took only 30 minutes to do. It was basically you know the material or you don’t.

To highlight some of the questions I received were; DORA, PPP, Frame Relay DnD.
The security question mentioned in 9tut’s security section. I did choose Banner and received 100% on that. The test worded Banner as Welcome and option for selection is “misuse of banner motd”. I had the Implementation SIM with the use of show cdp neighbors and show running config.

Know subnetting (obviously) and show commands.

I used CBT nuggets to get a great feel of the material, Odom’s ICND1 cert book for in depth, and PT 5.3 for labs. A week before the Exam, I recapped with Lead2Pass, (it was almost word for word) and of course 9tut.

On to CCNA. Good luck guys

Passed today. Had four drag & drops, one was on protocols such as icmp, arp, dns. I also had the lab sim on this site, and the security sim…so know security as it pertains to how line vty and console are protected, and of course enable and enable secret, and banner login. It goes without saying that if you don’t know subnetting, don’t waste your money on the exam. My biggest suggestion would be to invest in Lead2pass 640-822…it’s definitely worth the money! I also credit this site for helping me prepare, and a lot of experience working with Cisco IOS, and networks didn’t hurt either. Good luck everyone…it’s not that difficult if you prepare.
