The passing score for ICND1 is 805
To do sub netting without calculating, simply use this format

I took ICND 1 and it did not go well, it was my first time and I was bug down with doing subnetting using binary, this take too long better use decimal path, and when sim question start pop up I was left with few time so as you know I had to do what I got do to just mark all questions. Look I figure it out that you have 120 min with 50 questions. That means you have only 2.4min on every question so you need quick thinking close but not close to CPU). Time pressure – you need to find a way to cut time pressure down. I’m going back again with help of 9tut I have find many way to cut time pressure and new trick. Finger cross!

Failed AGAIN.. 787.. really not sure what i missed.. got 100% on security simlet (banner option is correct btw), said i got 60% on imp. of routed office, and %50 on WAN questions, dont know how or what i missed because i know those sims (it was the 2nd one), I had plenty of time and i went over each question, well third time is a charm, any suggestions?
Passed first attempt 912/1000 had 2 mins to spare so i didnt fly through fought it was pretty hard but cbt nuggets, train signal, todd lammle and wendell Odem books helped me and 9tut.net of course another site that is good is subnettingquestions.com which was actually reccommended on this site so i’m just confirming what has been said before.

Just passed ICND1 with a 950, first try! I got the Security testlet, implementation sim and the show config sim. Drag and drops were for DHCP, routing protocols and the IOS copy cmds.
Know your subnetting first and the basic paths of a packet, datagram, etc. and you’ll do fine.
Pass ICND 1 second attempt, if u read my previous comment (8 comments above from this). This site help me cut down time pressure almost 6 questions came from this site exactly without any twist on them. Preparing for ICDN2 fingure cross!

Passed ICND1 yesterday, 974 with 30 mins to spare. Exam was much easier than i expected. I used CBT nuggets, configure terminal & the Cisco press book. Know subnetting, subnettingquestions.com (although i did expect more questions on subnetting), show commands, the sims, the drag & drop questions on here, everything kgardner & irishdave said…on to icnd2 – which I expect to be 10 times harder!

Boson was a lot more difficult than Pass4sure or Testking, but it was really helpful to understand and gain the knowledge required to pass this certification.
I got the ATM, PSTN, FR and Leased Line drag&drop question, the lab where you need to put 4 routers and find out their local interfaces by using “sh cdp neighbors” command and another one available on this website (the one where you have to use “show interfaces” to answer 4 questions.
No more study today but back to work from tomorrow, planning to take ICND2 before the end of summer.

Better to use “sh cdp neighbors detail” command, because all subnets have the same mask.
Also i got Security Testlet, 4 questions. “Welcome” in banner is unsecured message!
I used “sh cdp neighbors” command + sh interfaces to find out the different subnets in use.
Also, I only had one wireless question and no questions at all about GUI.
Are there SDM questions on ICND1. Cisco and most recommendations say know it but I’d rather not fill my head with information that simply isn’t needed.

@mindlos: look for magical number subnet calculation.
e.g:
192.168.0.76 /28
there are 4 bits missing to the full octet, so you calculate 2^4 = 16
now you know the possible subnets are multiples of 16 :
192.168.0.0,
192.168.0.16,
192.168.0.32,
192.168.0.48,
192.168.0.64,
192.168.0.80,
192.168.0.96.
ip 192.168.0.76 resides in subnet 192.168.0.64, with possible hosts from .65 to .78. broadcast is the next subnet – 1, which is 192.168.0.79

@ jones . thanx.. i went ahead and took it .. passed with 950/1000 with 40 min left.. i was scared at first , then after a few mins , i felt confidence in myself.. the test is very easy if you know your stuff.. Make sure you know what you are doing guys.. on to part 2 now.. thanx to 9tut and eveybody on here with their feed back comments..
passed this morning with 910, with 30 mins to spare
1. used cbt nuggets, first just watching the videos, (the nugget labs are very valuable to get an understanding), CBT NUGGETS was vital for me
2. then used train signal (chris bryant) to fill in the gaps he is.
3. once i felt confidant enough i started practicing the exam questions using lead2pass. lead2pass is very good to understand the type of questions that you will get in the exam and the gaps you have in your knowledge.
4. then i went and watched the video’s again but this time making notes. you wont realise how much you missed unless you have an idea of what kind of info cisco wants you to know.
5. Used packet tracer for labs although I did buy physical routers from ebay I probably could have done without them.
my advice, know the concepts inside out, especially subnetting, had a few questions on this. tcp 3 way handshake, also had DHCP order (DORA), show cdp neighbours, general show commands, make sure you understand the running-config and the different parts on it (banner, how many vty lines, ssh or telnet, service password-enc), backing up the router switch using copy run tftp etc

Has anyone used the pass4sure? I have currently finshed ccent for dummies and the cbt nuggets videos(mutiple times) I am using the pass4sure now and I am not having any problems passing the virtual exams. I just wonder how close is this to the real exam.

I have done my preparation from CBT Nuggets and Sybex ICND1 by Todd Lammle
Feel confident, but not 100%. Wanna take some practice exams which give idea for the real exam, like kind of exams that come in the real exam.

Just finished the ICND1 an hour ago…Passed with a 925. ๐ Honestly couldn’t have done it without 9Tut and the resources here. Huge thanks for that! I used the Todd Lammle books, Boson Labs, and this site. I’m gonna donate via Paypal as soon as I finish posting. I used the todd lamle ICND1 book mostly for reference. I could’ve gotten by without it just googling key words on topics.
Implemetation Sim was on the test.
Show Configuration Sim was on the test.
Security Testlet was on the test. (banner message is a threat)
DORA drag and drop was on the test.
PSTN – circuit
ATM – cell
Frame Relay – packet
PPP – leased
drag and drop was on the test.
Again, my study method worked. I watched the videos while playing along with packet tracer. Then I went through every topic on 9tut reading all comments at the end. This gave me a general idea of what was happening and then I started taking the VCE exam w/ the ‘daniel’ file researching each question i didn’t know as it came up.

For those who took the exam already, there are sims and questions on here regarding RIP protocols but what about EIGRP, OSPF? Are those not until ICND2 or were there questions regarding them on ICND1?
thanks 9tut. lead2pass is legit, just don’t memorize the answer, some subnet mask and values are changed. i encountered many drag and drops not in here, like the ones with dns pstn atm dhcp leased line, and another one i completely forgot about.

Passed on Monday with 850. Know your IEEE wireless protocols in and out. That is what got me. Used this site and Odom’s ICND1 book.
I passed ICND 1 today with score of 812. Can anybody tell me how much harder is ICND2?
I have read that the ICND2 is a good deal more difficult. But as with anything preparation is everything and having the right study material….I am still working on ICND 1…I took it last week and did not pass, almost though. I was not prepared for the multi tasking part of the exam and I just found this website via a friend and think I will be fine for 2nd time. I wish I had known more about the exam, I would have done a good deal better. I am not used to failing anything. I know some people that passed the ICND 2 with the help of this website though as well. Congrats on ICND1.

Taking my CCENT exam tomorrow, August 20th. I have read Wendell Odoms Cisco press book, studied questions here and from exam collection. Worked with all simulations in packet tracer.

Steen in regards to subnetting i also had alot of troublw with this at first. I suggest to use subnettingquestions.com to warm up and practice.
I used subnettingquestions.com until I was able to do every question on the site quick and some of them i can even do in my head.
That site is good. Also CBT nuggets has helped with subnetting ๐

Electronicoo, thanks for the advice, but I feel really solid with my subnetting. I can do subnetting questions in my head within 15 seconds or less.
Just an FYI, I have passed the CCNA 6 years ago, I just let it expire because I was in networking and took a job in SAP administration for 5 years. I have been back in networking for the last year and decided to go the ICND1/ICND2 route this time. Also when I passed the CCNA 6 years ago I went to a 1 week “Bootcamp” and only learned enough to pass the test. This time I am taking my time and focusing on learing all the concepts because I want to continue on for my CCNP.
Here is my quick refrence subnetting table I will draw out on my markerboard prior to the test:

After studying all the information I tested my self with lead2pass practice exams which helped me get comfortable and confident for todays exam.

I was excited to see that I passed but disappointed that I only made 925. I was extremely confident that I did not miss one single question. I wish I knew what questions I actually missed.

I had the following simulations today: Implementation sim where you need to use “sh cdp neighbor detail” and Security Sim with questions about the logon banners. I only had one drag and drops: ATM/FrameRelay/PSTN/P2P (not on this site).
The Majority of the rest of the questions were very similar if not identical to the ones listed on this site. The exam questions on examcollection are also valid.

There are 4 options:
1. Cell Switching
2. Packet Switching
3. Leased Line
4. Circuit Switching
and you have to drag them to the following: ATM, Frame Relay, Point-to-Point, PSTN
Cell Switching = ATM
Packet Switching = Frame Relay
Leased Line = Point-to-Point
Circuit Switching = PSTN

I took the ccna alone test and failed twice. I want to try the ICND1/2 exam now. What’s the difference between the ICND 1 and 2? are there simulations in each exam?

practice the CLI usage in packettracer and read the explanation that comes along with each and every question that is answered here. on the exam you will be facing variations of these questions if not almost identical questions.

I am taking my ICND1 exam on Friday and I was wondering if there were just certain SIM’s that will be on this particular exam or if all of the SIM’s on this site are in play?
I just found out there are these types of SIM’s on the exam.
The cheap training material I bought made it sound as if it was mostly multiple choice.
Can someone please advise me on which ones to work on for the ICND1 exam.

@sascomp: you will get one or two of the sims listed on this site. Study and understand them all. There are even packettracer labs on here you can download. Know how to configure Rip v2.
@Student: study and understand all the questions in the ICND1 section of this website. I had several that were very similar if not identical to the questions shiwn here.
Should i take icnd1 or just ccna alone?
i failed ccna twice and it was really hard in a short period of time.
will icnd1 and icnd2 be much easier to achieve ccna?
Took this exam 2 weeks ago and missed it by 5 pts! First time I had seen the drag&drop for 1. Cell Switching 2. Packet Switching 3. Leased Line 4. Circuit Switching. Make sure to use 9tut for the sims and drag&drops and some of the Lead2Pass are mixed up. Besides missing two silly questions that still haunt me to this day… I also couldnt get my show cdp neighbors command to work. I plan on making this exam my B**** tomorrow !!!
@ Student: There are different opinions which way is easier to get your CCNA. I passed the CCNA 6 years ago, but I never fully learned all the concepts. I went to a bootcamp and they taught us just enough to pass the CCNA test. This time I want to progress past the CCNA to the CCNP and maybe CCIE level and didnt want just a “Paper Certification”, so I am taking the time and effort to make sure I fully understand all the concepts. I feel this will give me the foundatin I need going forward.
The ICND1/ICND2 tests break the material basically in half where as with the CCNA you need to know all of it. The ICND1/ICND2 both have approx 55 – 60 questins each for a total of 110 – 120 questions for the CCNA. The CCNA exam has about 55 questions by itself. So some argue that the CCNA is the easier way but it is more broad.

Scored a 899 !!! I got to the point where I could do the entire 339 Lead2pass dump in less than an hour. Although, I did stumble when it came to the Command Lines. I got the Implementation Sim for a second time, and another I had yet to seen; but nothing too crazy. We need to add 1. Cell Switching 2. Packet Switching 3. Leased Line 4. Circuit Switching to the Drag&Drops !!!!! I was given this again but by reading these comments I was prepaired. I did go through a month of actual studying before those accuse me of just memorizing lol

1st time visiting here and blown away. Sat ICND1 twice: 1st time failed 724 then studied harder failed again 712 on the 17th August 2012 …no help from any websites.
Gutted but determined to use more recources.
I had the implement sim which threw me and sunetting IDs which also threw me.

When i started the exam.you get a 15 min tutorial how to use the exam interface.its the same one off the cisco website.
Ur timer doesn’t start till after you click finish for the tutorial or the 15 mins.
I use the entire time to write on my 3 whiteout sheets for numbers,commands,etc just for references.

Passed ICND1 yesterday with a 937.
Just realized that since it was my second attempt that if I had failed again, then I would have had to wait 180 days before re-taking. So be sure and try and pass the first time or be VERY prepared for the second attempt.
I was told that you could take as many times as you wanted, but that is not the case.
Fail 2 times and you cannot take the same test for 6 months.
One way around it is to taken the entire 640-802 for both the ICND1 and ICND2 together.
I was broadsided by the SIMS the first time and ran out of time and barely failed.
The cheesy training material I had purchased made it sound as if the test would just be multiple choice and selecting commands, no real SIM’s.
This site was very instrumental in understanding the commands and concepts I had learned about and then applying them to real world SIM’s on this site.
If you know the concepts and then practice the SIM’s on this site and other sites you should be fine.
I practiced and learned all the SIM’s here before re-taking ICND1 and now I have a head start on the ICND2, which I am working on now.
I had the Drag and Drop Simlet for the routers, the show configuration SIM, and the security testlet, which I selected the Banner as a threat because both said “welcome” and I got 100% on security. There was one other answer that could have been right but after reading about the Banners being threats, I selected them.

It is actually if you pass you have to wait 180 days before you can take the same exam again you just passed.
