Passed the ICND1 today with a score of 874 same as Tom.. Thanks to 9tut for the help.. I would STRONGLY, STRONGLY recommend Cisco.PrepKing.640-822.v2012-07-03.by.Cris.346q.VCE if you could find it. I would say about 70% of my test questions came from this one VCE.
    – Study all the sims on this site
    – Know you subnetting
    – Know you sh commands especially “sh inteface” and “sh cdp”
    – Know why interfaces cant communicate, (ie. shut down, mismatch protocols, mismatch bandwidth speeds on the NIC/Switch and keepalives)
    – Know copy tftp flash, copy flash ftp, if you are copying the IOS to a server or backing up the IOS

Thanks once again 9tut.. See you at ICND2…

    @ tyrion lannister.
Ok thanks for clearing up the 180 day sentence on my passing form.
Hope I did not scare anyone too bad.
I just saw that on my sheet and wanted to report.
Having practiced and known ALL the SIM’s before retake , the ICND2 studying is alot easier, because I already figured out the ACL processes , VTP etc.
Thanks Again everyone and especially to 9tut!.

Hi I am looking to see if anyone could point me where to find VCE suite download, i am looking to take my test in a 2 maybe 3 weeks but would like to take a bunch of practice tests. If you have a link can you please email me Pineiro07@yahoo.com also any relevant material that you cant to sen would also be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks.

    What is multiplexing?
    A. The process of breaking streams of packets from applications into blocks of data small enough to send over the network.
    B. A system that allows packets travelling between hosts to take a variety of different routes.
    C. A system that allows a sending host to specify which application on a destination host receives the packet.
    D. Buying a ticket for one movie and using it to watch several movies before leaving the cinema.

**** I think “A” is the correct answer .. is that right ?

What does a socket consist of?
    A. An IP address and a port number.
    B. An IP address, a transport layer protocol, and a port number.
    C. A port number, an IP header, and a payload.
    D. An IP address, a MAC address, a transport layer protocol, and a port number.

what answer should be ?? 😐 is it answer A ?

    what happened to 9tut.com?

  11. Arjaes
    September 3rd, 2012

I passed the ICND1 Friday the 31st, with a 937 score. I had one problem that I wasn’t sure of. It regards how a switch learns a MAC-address. And how it then floods the ports. All ports or just the one’s it didn’t get the frame from. And whether it learns upon sending or receiving a frame.

I have since read up on the issue and advise you to brush up on the matter also. I purposely did not post what my old or new answer would be. It’s better to find that on your own I think.

    September 5th, 2012

how many labs questions were there?
i can’t understand 1 thing:several people tell that there is 55Q and 120 min.do they change the number of questions regularly?
what u guys would advice me during exams?which key factors i must consider?

  16. Gal
    September 5th, 2012

There were 3 lab type questions involving show commands and also 2 or 3 drag and drop type questions. The lab sims and drag and drops on this website are virtually identical. Just make sure you know your stuff and study everything on this site for ICND1. Do as many different practice tests as you can. examcollection.com has got some great free ICND1 practise tests. You can get the program needed to run them on isohunt too! Good luck

    Hi,Today i wrote my exam.Studied from
    CBT Nuggets
    Trainsignal Videos
Lots of Youtube videos and wikipedia to know the concepts in detail
    9tut.net
and examcollection lead to pass by Daniel and Peyton.

I answered everything properly..i was very happy to see qns – i got only 2 SIMS-quite easy ones..and qns that i have already seen..but when i got the results i got a 799- Grade FAIL- Now what i dont understand is- how did i fail- am so upset because of this.I have opened a case with cisco certification for reevaluation for my exam- one guy ther- i dint understand a word of what he said..but he jus opened a case..and he was like some one wil contact u in 1-2 business days..

Has anyone failed with a score of 799? has anyone applied for revaluation. what is the result of revauation anyone any experience pls share..

Also if there is a charge with the reval…is it better to reval or write the exam again? But what if it happens again..I cross checked all the answers before clicking on NEXT button..

    I dont know what went wrong 🙁 🙁 🙁

Took my ICND1 exam and passed. On to the ICND2 exam. My word of advice: Examcollection and lead to pass helped out a lot. Just know your subnetting questions and study the simulations carefully. I had the Implementation SIM and the Security Testlet. You also want to study ATM/PPP/PSTN/Frame Relay drag and drop. I had another drag and drop on there that was DNS/FTP/TFTP/DHCP/SNMP. But, I think if you study for a couple of weeks and read the ICND 1 Book, you should be fine. It would help to practice the SIMs in packet tracer if you have it too to get comfortable with it.

Just took my test and passed will be donating shortly. If you’re completely new to the field like I was all you need to do is

    1. Read and understand the Cisco Press book (google it)
    2. Do the practice tests that come with it.
    3. Study all the sims and questions here.
    4. Go to examcollection.com and download the Daniel Lead2Pass for the 640-822 and go through those questions.

That will be 95% of the EXACT questions on the exam and if you can go through all those without memorizing and just understanding it. There is no way you can’t pass.

    Took ICND1 yesterday: 962/1000, 50 min remaining.

My test was focused on module 1 of the Cisco CCNA Exploration curriculum. Had the same WLAN result as Shariq, above. I used the Cisco CCNA Exploration online course materials, thorough note taking and review, and online searches of any concepts that required clarification. Used Packet Tracer to be comfortable entering commands, but its best if you have access to actual network equipment. Also, practice binary math, practice, practice, practice.

There were many questions that I didn’t see on this site, but I remember two:

Which class IP address accommodates 66,000+ hosts: (choose one)
    a) Class E
    b) Class D
    c) Class A
    d) Class C
    e) Class B

Which class IP address allows you to borrow 15 bits for subnetting: (choose one)
    a) Class B
    b) Class D
    c) Class A
    d) Class C

    Wanted to add:
Had the Implementation SIM, the Show Configuration SIM, and a variation of the ARP testlet.

@HappGoLucky: I failed my CCNA exam 3 times by 10-30 points, and got no love from Cisco. I challenged my score since I failed because of the ACL 2 SIM (2 out of the 3 times). There is more than one possible ACL that fits the required conditions, and I didn’t know about 9tut to find the answer that Cisco expected. Hopefully, your results will be better, just remember be persistent.

Which transport layer protocol is used for critical Voice over IP services?

Is it UDP or TCP. Some dumps website are saying answer is UDP, but am reading Lammle he saying you cant use UDP because it doesnt have sequencing for received packets. can someone help explain the correct answer between the two.

  32. Rafal
    September 22nd, 2012

Only UDP becouse no sense is tcp.Read book icnd1.

  33. HCS01
    September 22nd, 2012

    @Rango:
TCP has too much overhead for efficient transmission of data that must be delivered in real time. Also, voice traffic doesn’t need to be sequenced. An occasional dropped packet is not going to ruin the information transmitted. Think of minor static on a radio station broadcast as being equivalent to the worst case scenario with unacknowledged transmission. In the end, you can just ask the other person to repeat his/her self if necessary.

    A. An IP address and a port number.

also i got the Security Teslet(make sure that you select Bannar choose as one of the choices)

@ mooni-congrats..do u remember the question regarding DNS,ARP ,ICP and DHCP?

  39. xallax
    September 24th, 2012

    @happy
    socket is IP:port (i.e.: 174.132.160.58:80)
    en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Network_socket

    2nd question:
on a class A network you have 8 bits that are always 1 and 24 bits that can be used for subnetting.
there always have to be 2 bits for hosts otherwise the subnet is unusable (cant assign IPs to hosts).

    32 bits (total) – 8 (always 1) – 15 (how many we need for this task) = 9 bits

    let’s try with a class B network:
    32 bits (total) – 16 (first 16 bits can’t be used for subnetting on a class B network) – 15 = 1 bit left
there have to be at least 2 bits left for hosts. the subnet mask now is /31, it would allow only the subnet address and broadcast address to be used on this subnet. impractical.
    answer C is correct

  40. Bushy
    September 25th, 2012

Passed 9/23/12 with a 974. This website is awesome and is a great representation of whats on the test. I had the DORA drag and drop, and also the WAN protocol DAD. The security testlet was on there. Chose banner as part of my answers and got 100% in that area. I had lots of subnetting questions, so if you are not comfortable with subnetting, practice. For studying I used this site, cisco (for the subnetting game, and also went through their review questions), and attended a CCNA course at a certified cisco learning partner. Also had the implementation drag and drop. thanks 9tut, on to ICND2. Good luck everyone.

Hello, I’ve misunderstood these 2 questions. Please help me !!!
    1. which two characteristics describe the access layer of the hierarchical network design model ? choose two
    a. Layer 3 support
    b. port security
    c. redundant component
    d. VLANs
    e. PoE

Why are the answers A and B ?

    2. what are two characteristics of segmenting a network with a router ? ( choose two )
    a. a router processes data more quickly than switches.
    b. filtering can occur based on layer 3 information .
    c. a router decrease the number of collision domains.
    d. adding a router to the network decreases latency.
    e. broadcasts are not forwarded across the router.

the answers are C and E. I think B and E. cuz router filter based on layer 3 information

    @kona
    for the 2nd qn:
    a) A router does increase latency by adding the delay caused by the router examining each packet entirely before sending it on.- so def option A is not the answer

    b) IP is a layer 3 protocol-no doubt abt it- but i think this wont be chosen as we need to select 2 best answers –

    c) a router decrease the number of collision domains.-maybe in the context of the qn-which asks u to segment a network ( ie) In general, traffic tends to stay within a segment, and less traffic is routed beyond the segment to contend for access to the backbone.

    d) adding a router to the network decreases latency- is false as the router has more functionalities and processes to process .(ie) A router does increase latency by adding the delay caused by the router examining each packet entirely before sending it on.

    e) Reduced size of broadcast domains: Routers block broadcasts- SO Defitely this is one of the answer

So answer has to be C and E

@ kona- for ur first question

    1. which two characteristics describe the access layer of the hierarchical network design model ? choose two
    a. Layer 3 support
    b. port security
    c. redundant component
    d. VLANs
    e. PoE

We all know that the hierachial model will have 1) ACESS 2)DISTRIBUTION and 3) CORE
Here they have asked abt the Access part alone.

From the definition of Access layer in the Hierachial model- “The access layer is sometimes referred to as the desktop layer. The network resources the workgroup and users needed will be available locally.”

That is , the main purpose of the access layer is to provide a means of connecting devices to the network and controlling which devices are allowed to communicate on the network.

The answers should be PoE and port security- r u sure the options are correct??
See the tabular column in access layer at this link –

    options is 1)flash,tftp ,rom
    flash,tftp ram
    fash ,nvram,tftp
    rom,tftp,flash
    flash,rom.tftp

I think it first searches the Flash-thats where the IOS image is located
if not found, then backupp device(say tftp server)
and then- here i think it should be RAM.,instead of ROM.

the ans given is option A .. .1)flash,tftp ,rom,

    Is tht the correct ans?

  55. thereis nogod
    September 27th, 2012

yes flash is default location, if device cant find it there, then it checks for a configured tftp server, if no success there, then it will use the basic version of the IOS located in ROM called ROMMON.

happy i’m start to thing that your using only the dumps. whenever you use 9tut and exam collection you should have all the popular study guides open so you can search the answers that are not clear. thats the only reason that i’m able to answer some of your questions. also run all the commands that you have to choose from in packet tracer. dont just blindly trust the dumps verify the answers. there are a lot wrong answers in the dumps. its fun to be able to identify wrong answers plus its show that you know the topics. enjoy your studies.

its show startup-config because the startup-config file is stored in NVRAM

    Hi Guys,
Yesterday [2nd october] i did my ICND1 and passed with 950 marks. 50 questions were there and passing mark was 804. Got 2 simulation qs and plenty of subnetting also it covered all of aspects, which we should learn regarding ICND1. Please do not memorize Answers specially IPs, since all IPs are different but structure were the same as these questions. Just do your studies perfectly and follow ICND1 questions in “9tut” as well as from “examcollection” site at least twice for better result. Do not hesitate doing studies on this site question as they all are perfectly matching to the exam questions. Also in 9tut, they explain the answers and it is most important thing to understand the nature of question and perfect answers even we never heard before. So i hope all of you guys will do your study well and earn ICND1 certification ! Good Luck !!!!

    October 12th, 2012

the single most important thing to provide is a clear statement of the sims and simlets that testers see on their exam.. We know the individual questions change frequently, but the sims are fairly stable

Took it today and Passed 825. No real hard subnetting questions, just need to know your powers of two and address types. Question about IDS on the test along with ins and outs of WAN setup and CSU/DSU questions. Security was also on there a good bit.

I had that question on CCENT test with multiple choices mentioning NAT/PAT. I cant remember the exact multiple choice answers, but i definitely remember that question. I was confused by the question too. I googled, ask my company’s network team, no one knew.

    a. Layer 3 support

and CBTnuggets icnd1 and INE CCNA 640-802 Bootcamp
videos, practicing subneting http://subnettingquestions.com/, i was using 9tut website to study simulations, and I used brain dump from Daniel. Anything else???????????????????????
    Is that enough for pass???????????

    @myself
the Access Layer is where PCs, laptops, servers, printers, VoIP phones, etc. connect to the network.
this is where hosts connect so there has to be port security to avoid someone connecting a switch/router and messing up the entire network (B is correct)
VLANs are usually present here to separate traffic by criteria. D is (partially) correct
VoIP phones, PoE wireless switches could get their power over ethernet (that’s what PoE means) which is supplied by the devices at the Access Layer. E is correct.

    B, (D), E correct. i’d pick B and E

    Someone please comment on this:
Question 1 from the subnetting section..
    It says this is right:
“A – Interface fa0/3 has an IP address that overlaps with network 10.1.3.0/30”

But there is no 10.1.3.0/30 network in the exhibit.
Fa0/3 adress is however incorrect for the 10.1.3.128 /25 network…

What do you think of this? If that one isnt correct is it F?
“The IP subnet 10.1.1.0/30 is invalid for a segment with a single server.”

    Please help me out!

    November 15th, 2012

Passed ICND1 today studied about 2 months. Read Wendell book, CBT and 9 tut. Some of these questions were on there. Some questions threw me maybe 6 choices pick 3 they all seem right. Some questions they all seemed wrong. Some really subtle difference so prepare for it, all and all it was pretty easy if your prepared, time wasn’t an issue, either you know the answer or you don’t take your best shot and move on I took about half The time. This was my first cert test I was prepared to fail so I wasn’t stressed at all I think that helped. 850

    passed yesterday with a 962.

WAN drag and drop, i didnt see before made me guessing 😀 be sure to know terms like PSTN, ATM, framerelay, leased line and the kind of WAN technique they use: point-to-point, cell switching, packet switching, or circuit switching…. time was no problem, i used CCENT/CCNA ICND1 from cisco press (the most comprehensive source in my opinion), cbt nuggets, gns3, PT, this great site and VCE dumps. for my icnd2 exam in 2 weeks ill do a lot of lab practice… good luck to all future test takers

Hi guys, im writing my exam on frid da 23rd..so far it has been been me and cbt nuggets training videos, 9tut, examcollections and more subnetting questions
can someboduy help me on this one.

1.How many hosts could you put on each subnet of 1.0.0.0 if you used a mask of 255.25.248.0? How many subnets would you have created?
    a) 2048 useable hosts. 8190 subnets
    b) 2048 useable hosts. 8192 subnets
    c) 2046 useable hosts. 8190 subnets
    d) 2048 useable hosts. 8192 subnets

    answer: D
I do understand the first portion of useable hosts, but the subnets?? can somebody give clearity on how they got 8192 subnets

  99. the_guy
    November 17th, 2012

    @daPhly

1.0.0.0 is a ClassA network which means it has subnet of 255.0.0.0 or /8
subnet 255.255.248.0 has CIDR of /21 so basically it is asked how many such kind of subnets can a claas a network hold. I will do it 21-8 = 13 bits for making subnets, so 2 to the power of 13 is 8192.
NB! usable hosts should be 2046 not 2048

Passed 862, and it took 30minutes.

Cisco Press book. I actually read it.
    9tut.com
    subnettingquestions.com
    gns3 and http://www.routeralley.com/ra/
    This VCE (85%): http://www.examcollection.com/cisco/Cisco.CertifyMe.640-822.v2012-08-29.by.Peyton.357q.vce.file.html

You have to learn the concepts. I did subnettingquestions.com every day until I could do the subnetting in my head. I did 100 questions 3 x a day for two weeks with the VCE and made sure I understood why things are right and wrong. I played with routers in GNS3 over and over until it was boring. And I actually read the book cover to cover. It took a month total. You can do it too.
