    Passed CCENT with 862! 🙂
3 months of studying: mainly reading Odom ICND1 3rd edition, re-reading, vocabulary terms and practice questions, book comes with more practice questions on dvd along with simulator which wasn’t bad at all; browsing through 9tut questions, tnx!; also viewed videos on cisco learning network which had more practice questions and some sims. I did take cisco network academy 10 yrs ago but ofcourse didn’t take the exam…
I felt like the exam wasn’t too difficult but the time limit did not help….i guessed on 50th (last) question because i had like 3 seconds left!….don’t be fooled by a couple websites that say you have 110 minutes, it’s only 90 like everyone says.
Just study until you feel like you understand the stuff and go for it!

    Hey guys

Is there only 3 sims on the icnd 2?
    Vtp, nat and ospf??

Or can the Ccna sims come up?

Can someone outline the full list?? I’m a bit confused

    November 27th, 2012

    passed today needed 804
some to me weird questions about wifi but maybe i just don’t get it.
    sorry but i can’t recall the question’s
Had about 55 minutes of time left, got a bonus of 30 mins because not native english speaker.

Key to passing the exam, subnet, subnet and subnet. Of course you need to know you’re stuff but when you know how to subnet you can even answer questions wich you don’t exactly understand

Before the exam, during te expenation of how the interface of the exam works. I wrote down a table with the /25 tm /32 addresses including hosts in a certain subnet. This helped me a lot.

Passed with 862, with 40 minutes left on the clock.

I got the Security Testlet, Show Configuration Sim and Implementation Sim. Mainly studied Odom ICND1, reading 9tut and practicing Cisco.Lead2Pass.640-822.v2012-06-19.by.Anonymous.339q.vce questions. Most important aspect is practice and understanding the basic concepts. There are a few tough Drag and Drop questions though.

Good luck to those taking the exam and thank you 9tut!

Passed today in with 937. The site was absolutely on Point, Got the sim where u have to use ‘show cdp neighbors’ to complete the network diagram.

A few questions I’ve not seen anywhere, but many from here and the VCE dumps.
The test is pretty simple if u know ur stuff and prepare well. I used CBT nugget, 31 days before your CCENT certification by Scott Pearson and many subnetting practice sites.

Thanks a lot 9tut. Will definitely donate to this site

Passed ICDN1 today with 950.studied wendell odem book from cisco ,CBT nuggets video and dumps from exam collection and also from 9tut.i did the preparation for around 45 days understanding most of the concepts..but if you want to just pass the exam 80% of questions were from this site and the dumps in exam collection….but if you really are interested in networking or to excel in interviews ,pls take your time and understand the basic concepts….

Just Destroyed my test 974. The only thing I can think I might have missed was one of the questions on static routing.

I think I got handed a pretty easy deck. No configuration labs at all.
    Implementation Sim
Security Testlet (this is the only site I’ve seen it on THANKS SO MUCH)
    Show Configuration Sim

Other than that most of the questions were super easy and I’ve seen them directly off of Actual Tests, or Pass for sure, or definitely from this site. Keep in mind two things……. 1. They’re going to change the answers slightly just to throw you off…. 2. memorizing the multiple choice type questions is NOT Enough to pass the test. You still have to be able to do the labs to some extent….

THANKS 9tut.com/net for everything. I just scheduled my 640-816 for next month and I’m going to look on here first.

I can’t seem to pass any Cisco Exams…..I’ve taken the 802 three times already and the last two times, I failed by 10 points……I decided to take an easier route with ICND1 and failed that also with a 775…I thought that it would be so much easier….

Can anyone here help me out to get the latest dumps…..I used the dumps from this site along with other massive material, but none of it seem to get me to pass….Ive used 9Tut, CBT Nuggets, ITU, TestKing, Pass4Sure, Packet Tracer….

I can be reached at cehiem@yahoo.com. I’m simply tired of wasting my money, with all the tools that I have here. I am really DESPERATED and DISORIENTED from consecutive failure statuses….. HHHHEEEEELLLPPPP!!!!!

it took me a year dallas to get icnd 1, i am not the sharpest tool at all. Hi
what kind of lab sim you found on exam?

  21. alsadk
    December 9th, 2012

    @daPhly
if there nothing missing from the question all answer is wrong in my opinion any way if i face this on real exam i think i will talk to them about it but i will chose c as the right answer since there is no way for number of hosts to be 2048 but number of subnets might be 8192 or 8190 depending on what mentioned in the question. if the question didn’t mentioned any thing the number of hosts should be 8192 so i would say the right answer is 2046 hosts and 8912 subnet/

PS: some dumps contains errors if that from where you get it.

I am totally having some unfortunate luck with all of my Cisco attempts for 640-802 and then stepping down to doing the two part 640-822 and 640-166. On my last two failed attempts with the 802 exam, I failed both exams by 10 points which caused me to go hysterical. When I decided to go for the 640-822 test, I studied hard for another 3 weeks with all sorts of tools provided:
    – Leadpass
    – CBT Nuggets
    – Testout
    – Boson 7.0 Netsim
    – ITU
    – Cisco Press ICND1 book by Wendell Odom
    – Cisco Packet Tracer
    – 9tut
    – ExamCollection
    – VCE
    – subnettingquestions.org
and I still ended up failing for with a 775/1000. I was for sure that I passed the exam when I was killing all of my practice material. I definitely do not know what is going on and this is extremely disturbing. I keep seeing others with great success stories, and I’m trying to reach that pinnacle also to relay my experiences, but damn, I’m in a hole I can’t get out of. Can anyone out there feed me some of the latest dumps for the ICND1 exam. I would definitely appreciate this as I’m trying to be a family member in the Cisco world.

Hi everybody, I Passed my exam today 974/1000 !
Thanks to 9tut for all the explainations about questions !
80% of the questions were from Testking visual certexam, and even if the answer were not in the same order or if the good answer was not really the same it helps a lot.
3 Labs tests which were not dificult at all.

    thanks

I passed today with 862/1000. 9tut was spot on with the labs, testlets, and questions. The only one I had an issue with was the Security Testlet, since it was a tad bit different. Still 100% on it though. I also used VCE exam to study as well. I only studied for a week before the exam a little every night.

    December 13th, 2012

I passed the icnd1 exam with 962. I used the cisco press book, this site, the subnetting website, and the main vce dump with best rating.
I had the show sim, the implemenatation sim and the security testlet. The security testlet for my exam had the motd banner, but it did not say welcome, so for me this was the cuplrit for ambiguity. Maybe a couple drag and drops that are listed in the site. I did not use the whole time allotted of 90minutes, but I made sure I had the subnetting down so it would not get to crunch time.

Passed today with a score in the low 900s.
    Read Lammle’s CCNA book
    Subnetting questions.com
    peyton dump
    and this awesome site.

If you study the ICND1 sims here you’ll be great, but I will say I got the security question among others. Just to echo what others have said, understand what you’re doing and don’t memorize.

Took me waaaaaay less than the 90 minutes.

I have my ICND 1 exam tomorrow (20/12/2012) at 4pm. Spent a long time going through resources such as 9 Tut, Exam Collection and Packet Tracer for sim practice. Feel as though I have not just memorised questions and actually do have understanding of why the answers are the answers. Thought my knowledge was pretty solid until I did a mini 30 question practice exam that I set up last night (from Exam Collection) and revealed some holes in my knowledge. I was just like “oh crap!” Mostly rare topics or asking questions based on obscure material that was causing me to fall down. But then I’ll do another one where it asks me a different set of 30 questions and I’ll do much better. I don’t know….I guess I just have to hope the exam tomorrow is kind to me. Feels as though no matter how strong you think your knowledge may be, if Cisco want to trip you up then they will….

Some background info: I am coming from having completed and passed the entire CCNA Cisco Networking Acadamy course from September 2011 through to July 2012 (even qualified for the exam discount voucher in the process which I have used to reduce the cost of the exam fee for tomorrow), and a failed attempt at the full CCNA exam back in August.

Wish me luck. Really hope I can come back on here tomorrow evening with some good news for you guys.

    @ Josh Johson

“until you are dreaming subnetting in your sleep” – funny that you said that. I’m super nervous for tomorrow. I’m taking my ccent and lately I’ve been subnetting in my dreams =). Any last points for me before exam? I’ve used cbtnuggets, ciscopress book, 9tut and lots of .vce(which I don’t think is best since many ppl makes wrong answers). Any thoughts?

  36. Racko
    December 22nd, 2012

Bart , please dont be nervous. Once you know the concepts you should be fine . If you can subnet in your head you should be ok . Time is a big factor , so once you have confidently check the correct answers , move on . You never know when a sim will jump out at you . Thats where you need the time . The sims carries the bulk of the marks

  37. Racko
    December 22nd, 2012

One more thing guys , nothing is wrong with using braindumps , but learn the concepts , try and understand whats happening . I have heard managers return from interviewing potential Engineers , saying ,ha , ha , he was a paper CCNA.

If I have a Class C address and I needed 100 hosts , how many bits should I borrow ? what if I needed 99 hosts or 110 hosts ?

  38. xallax
    December 22nd, 2012

    @racko
    64 hosts, 90 hosts, 110 hosts, 126 hosts.
they all need a big enough subnet to accommodate all of them. a /25 subnet is the answer.

    why /25?
    it is actually better to know the first ten powers of 2: 1, 2, 4, 8, 16, 32, 64, 128, 512, 1024.
how many hosts have to fit in one subnet? between 64 and 126 (for this example)
a /24 subnet would accommodate for a maximum of 254 hosts (255.255.255.0 – 256 IPs, take 2 IPs out for subnet and broadcast), let’s try a smaller one.
/25 subnet (255.255.255.128) – maximum of 126 hosts. this could be it
/26 subnet (255.255.255.192) – maximum of 62. the address space wouldnt suffice

learn these that correspond for the first byte that isn’t complete (255):
    0 – 256 IPs
    128 – 128 IPs
    192 – 64 IPs
    224 – 32 IPs
    240 – 16 IPs
    248 – 8 IPs
    252 – 4 IPs
    254 – 2 IPs
    255 – 1 IP

always keep in mind that 2 IPs can not be configured on hosts: network and broadcast addresses (very first and very last IPs in the subnet).

what if you wanted to fit 127 hosts in one subnet? you cant use a /25 subnet any more.
why not? a /25 subnet has an address range of 128 IPs… yes, it has but remember the network and broadcast address (i keep stressing this out as it is very important). 128 – 2 = 126 IPs, we need 127 IPs for hosts.
the answer for 127 hosts is a /24 subnet mask (255.255.255.0)

a very nice way to figure out what subnet to use or how many hosts fit in a given subnet is the “magic number” trick.
search for “magic number subnetting” 😉
also read 9tut’s subnetting tutorial. it is very important for you to master this concept.
    http://www.9tut.com/subnetting-tutorial

    cheers

837 points only. I disappointed : ( I believed that it should be much more easier but I was wrong. Terere were a lot of questions about WAN connections (ATM, Frame relay etc). It’s very strange. But anyway I pass : )

    December 22nd, 2012

I would like to THANK 9tut for all the valuable information on your website. Today I’ve passed my CCENT with 937. It was hard for me since this was my first test “ever”. I’m here now to tell all those self-doubters like me. Don’t be nervous, you have to get the basics, foundation is the key. If cisco is your career don’t be cheap and learn it. Like with new house, if you don’t have good foundations it eventually may collapse. Learning basics will help you create strong foundation. I know I talk a lot about basics but thats the key. Self study is hard but its doable. If you have the money then go with instruction, its easier. Things I’ve used:

Cisco Press Book(Odom) – Hard to read but huge on FOUNDATIONS

CBT Nuggets – I would suggest this material BEFORE the BOOK, I’ve started the book and had to drop it since it was 2hard to read. After CBT nuggets much better

ExamCollection – VCE exam collection “Cisco.ExamKing.640-822.v2012-11-18.by.elmontana.330q.vce but many other good out there.

9tut.net – I don’t even know how to start with this website. This is GOLD. Guys I’m telling you, go through the whole freakin ICND1 640-822 portion will make you pass. I had MOST of the questions from this web. In example:

-9tut.net security was there (banner is security risk, rest use elimination process,)
-9tut.net LAB Sims – OMG this saved ME!!! I had implementation and show config one. MAKE SURE you master them.

-Subnetting – as one of the guys said, you must subnet till you start dreaming about subnetting (thats what happen with me) BEST SOURCE IS:
    http://www.subnettingquestions.com/

Wish you guys ALL luck, once again don’t be scared, get foundations and you’ll do good… Thank you 9tut for all the help again. I will contribute

One of the funniest things on this site , is when people say question x was there , but with different IP’s . Ha ! ,ha , ha , . Why should the same IPs be there. Learn the concepts and learn to think outside of the box . You will have to in industry. There are problems you come across , not even Uncle Google can help you , lol , lol
So, mask 255.255.255.240 is incrementing by 16 . So , in the exam you see /27 instead . Dont panic , /27 is going up by 32 ,

Which two commands will display the current IP address and basic Layer 1 and 2 status of an interface? (Choose two.)

    A. router#show version
    B. router#show ip interface
    C. router#show protocols
    D. router#show controllers
    E. router#show running-config

Can someone tell me what the correct answer is? I am seeing different answers and I cant find a firm answer on the web.

When I run the commands on packet tracer the only commands that show the “FastEthernet0/0 is up, line protocal is up” are show ip interface and show protocols.

Passed today with a score of 987, 804 was the threshold. I used read Odom’s book a few times and worked mainly with this dump; Cisco.CertifyMe.640-822.v2012-08-29.by.Peyton.357q.vce. Every question on the exam was found in this dump.

I had 2 SIMS, the Implementation Sim and the Show Configuration Sim.

    Crew
Its a tricky 1 and depends on how the question is asked ! Must the 1 command show ip and L1 and L2 status or must it show either the IP or the layer status ?
Always do a process of elimination on the possible answers!
    A: show version
    – nope
    B: show ip int
    – yes, both ip and L1 and L2 will be displayed
    C: show protocols
    – nope – the command is actually show ip protocols – shows routing info
    D: sh controllers
    – nope
    E: show run
    – “yes”, shows ip of an interface, but not L1 and L2 status
    – will show u if an interface is shutdown though
A word of advice, use packet tracer, set up a network with it using routers and switches, keep it simple, and then u can actually test and find the answer yourself

    The ways I check
    – show ip interface brief
    – show ip interface
    – show interfaces
    – show interfaces s0/0 (or whatever int u checking like fa0/1)

  49. neilg
    January 6th, 2013

    So based on that
    A, C, D are definately wrong
    B is 100% corrrect
    E is 50% correct

    So choose B and E

  50. neilg
    January 7th, 2013

    I made a mistake
    Show protocols is also correct
So correct answers are B and C

All in my own home lab, and I paid for it with my own hard earned cash !

Why doesn’t Cisco make packet tracer freely available on their site ?
Its a great study aid, that’s works great !
U definately need some real “stuff” that u can see and touch

Or is Cisco trying harder to prevent “paper” qualifications, cause there seems to be a growing nr of people that know the theory, passed the tests, but have never actually worked with the equipment, much like the good old Microsoft qualifications …

1st: Are all the sims on her able to be downloaded and practiced on packet tracer? If not where could I find them.

2nd:In regards to public addresses. I have been doing the sim questions and there is one question asking me to choose the public address. I cant remember what they are. IS there a trick to them. I have been looking through both my CCNA books but cant find a clear answer.

    This site is awesome… 2 weeks…. NERVOUS!!!

    JJ
Being nervous and over preparing is never a bad thing, except that it takes much longer before u go write the actual exam.
Cisco wants u to be prepared, that way they know that u know the material when u pass the exam, its a way of ensuring that Cisco qualifications hold value

Spend lots of time in packet tracer, do show cmds and go research the output till u know exactly what everything means, its also over preparing, but in a good way.

I also need to book my exam so that I’m “forced to go write , I have been ready for months, but just like u I will over prepare so much its actually silly.

Pls be more specific regarding your 2nd question …
    Which SIM, which question

They normally try and trick u by using addresses that aren’t valid, like network or broadcast, meaning you must subnet to see if they are valid

    Neilig,

I was basically wondering if there was a source that I could download the LAB SIMS for ICND1 into packet tracer. (The ones that are possible) That way I could practice on them as well.
    Hope that helps!

Hey guys, I last posted on December 19th 2012, the day before I took my ICND1 exam. Good news, I passed with a score of 862. The show config sim was on there as well as the implementation sim. The copy commands drag & drop question was on there. The DHCP sequence drag & drop was there ‘DORA’. Had the drag and drop one for what packet switching technology is used for ATM, Frame Relay, Point-to-Point, PSTN.

Make sure you know your subnetting very very well and can do it reasonably quickly. Start timing yourself on practice questions. If your over a min and a half for subnetting calculations then you are a bit too slow. Try and get it down to a minute or under ideally. The subnetting questions on there are not massively complicated but there is a lot of them, and I mean a lot.

    Resources I used:
    The CCENT Wendell Odom Book
    Packet Tracer
    9tut
    CBT Nuggets (a little)
    Exam Collection.com
The full CCNA Cisco Networking Academy course (completed last year)

I am now waiting for my CCENT Certificate to arrive the mail. I was hoping that you can get entry-level network technician jobs just from this qualification. You would think it is possible, I mean that is what CCENT stands for afterall. But after having just done a little Internet search, it looks like really you need the full CCNA… So I guess its going to be on to ICND2 for me. Not entirely thrilled at the prospect of more studying. I’ll check in with you guys again later. Anyone else moving on ICND2 now also?

Passed ICND1 today with 925 over 804. My way of saying “Thanks to 9tut “The labs and all the help provided on this Site were very helpful sitting for this one. Some labs & ?s were present & some not or came with diff.#’s.or wording.Though I’m not new to Cisco testing but I was kind of nervous cause it has been 7years from my expired now CCNP. but the concepts have’nt changed & the steps remain the same in achieving Cisco’s.STUDY.STUDY.PRACTICE .PRACTICE.REVIEW.REVIEW & If you can: Support 9tut.Thanks again.Sorry… for not posting anything else.

Passed my ICND1 with a 937 today. The lab/sims here were exactly what was on the test as well as the questions. Do yourself a favor and pay the $9 for a month of premium access to this site to get all the potential questions on the test.

Also used the Pass Any Time dump that was almost a cut and paste of the test. I finished the test in 29 minutes.

Security Testlet, Impletmentation SIM, and Show Configuration SIM.

I passed today. Got the sim that you have to type sh cdp neighbors on to know where to put the router at. Also examcollection.com has a real good and 95% acurate dump. Study it. But Hell Yeah, I passed.

Well, I signed up to test next week. Tried to cram all of this stuff for the whole test over the past few months, but this is not my background so it was greek to me. Opted for ICND1 first…. Hoping i pass the test the first time out. Seems like overload learning so much for 50 questions….30 january here I come…. reluctantly but i’m coming!

  73. ChristanF
    January 22nd, 2013

I took the ICND 1 Exam today and passed with a score of 887. After so many hours of studying it paid off.

    I studied using:
    CBT Nuggets
    Odom Wenden ICND1
    Chris Bryants Guide
    Various of youtube videos
    Subnettingquestions.com
9 Tut (Used this site to verify what I have learned.. not to memorize answers.)

Know you main concepts and be good at subnetting. There are plenty of good youtube videos to show you easy ways of subnetting, find what works for you!

I did get the DORA and PPP, Frame Relay, ATM, & ISDN Drag and drops. The Show cdp nieghbor sim that is on here.

    My home lab setup: 3x 2620XM and 3x 2950’s

I finished with about 40 minutes left on the clock, so if you feel like your going too fast.. slow down a little and take your time.. just be conscience of your time.

  74. JJ
    January 23rd, 2013

Does someone know what they question is that involves the PPP, Frame Relay, ATM, & ISDN Drag and drop?
    Thanks

  75. ChristanF
    January 23rd, 2013

They just ask you to match the following together:

    PPP – Leased Line
    Frame Relay – Packet Switched
    ATM – Cell Switched
    ISDN – Circuit Switched

Just drill those in to your head and you will be just fine on that question. Certain memory things like that and remembering public and private addresses.. I just drill it over and over during the day, and especially right before your test.

Last year we didn’t have 1 testing centre, luckily now we have 2, if it wasn’t for that I would have been done with this exam last year already !

    Cover January 20th, 2013 Q. Which device is a physical layer ?
    a. hub
    b. switch
    c. nic.
    d. router
the answer is c nic right?
    =============
I would say the question is not complete, cause all of the listed devices operate at the physical layer, although a switch also does Layer 2 (and some do Layer 3), and a Router also does Layer 2 and Layer 3.
Really depends on the question, but off hand I would also go with A

    January 24th, 2013

    Here’s a question-

Could any one of the 7 sim questions on the 9tut.net homepage be on the ICND1 test? Or are there some to be omitted from knowing.

  86. Frank
    January 25th, 2013

I don’t think the VTP, OSPF, or NAT sim would show up on the ICND1. But, I am not so certain about that Nat sim.

  87. Akila
    January 25th, 2013

    @neilg
NIC is actually Data Link layer since it has to check the MAC address before passing it to the OS (upper layers)
A hub on the other hand just floods any packet it received out of all ports except for the port it was received.

  88. neilg
    January 25th, 2013

    Akila,
I do agree with u, I would also choose a hub

But I don’t think the answer is complete, cause every device listed ALSO works at L1, meaning a physical cable connects to them.
    a. hub – Layer 1 only
    b. switch – Layer 1, Layer 2 (and some do Layer 3)
    c. nic. – Layer 1, Layer 2, Layer 3
    d. router – Layer 1, Layer 2, Layer 3

But even further, in the good old days (I’m not that young LOL), u got another thing … called a Switchable Hub … just to complicate matters, but that seems to have vanished.

    Hey All,

Just got back from taking my exam. I passed! Thanks everyone for helping out in some of the questions that I had.

    I used:
    CBT Nuggets
    CCNA Book
    and a lot of 9tut!!!

Some of the things on the test that I can remember were the test:
    Security Testlet
    Implementation Sim
    Show Config Sim
    Some WAN Questions
    Subnetting questions.

Time to start studying for part 2. Thanks again 9tut

Well I decided to move my test from 4 Feb to tomorrow (29 Jan), I hate the suspense, just wanne get it over with already !
In the last 3 days I have been working through Anonymous.339q.vce and have to say there are definately some mistakes in the “exams” ! Quite a few that I picked up, and it also pointed out 3 of 4 things that I need to brush up on …

    I have been using
    – ICND1 3rd Edition by Wendell Odom
    – CBT Nuggets
    – 9tut
    – Anonymous.339q.vce

These “play tests” have pointed a few important things out :
    – if u not sure of the answer, do a process of elimination, get rid of the ones that are obviously wrong
    – if it looks like an easy question then read it again
    – don’t take anything for granted, WORK IT OUT

If I’m not ready by now I will never be ready, wish me luck, I will report on my result by tomorrow afternoon.

Thank you 9tut!!! After 3 attempts of taking the whole composite CCNA exam, I decided to go the ICND 1 route and passed today with an 837! I used this site, ICND1 dumps by Cisco.CertifyMe.640-822.v2012-08-29.by.Peyton.357q.vce. The Lab sims were: Implementation SIM and Show Configuration Sim.

    Okay about the exam

During that exam I actually started worrying about both time and if I was actually gonna make it, but I finished with about 15min left on the clock.

I was more than halfway through the exam and had only used 30 minutes and then the SIMS came up, think I had 4 of them, and they really slowed me down. They are easy if u know your commands, but because its an exam u tend to double check and then check again, which costs time. Working in the sims felt very uncomfortable with multiple open windows, and some of the questions and answers are plain silly. I new all the answers by just looking at the config, but the options they gave me didn’t always make sense

1 weird problem I got was on the 1 sim, I did a sh ip int bri and got an ip address on the fa0/1 interface, then I did a sh ip int fa0/1 and got A DIFFERENT ip address.
I checked this a few times to make sure I didn’t make a mistake. The 1 was .15 and the other .14 (the .15 being a broadcast address /29 mask). That is not trying to trick me it’s actually bloody stupid, case u can’t assign a broadcast address anyway.

My advice is still, read the book, watch Jeremy, practice subnetting over and over, spend lots of time on 9tut, Packet Tracer and the real thing, and then go write.

I promise u, no matter how well u are prepared, u WILL doubt yourself during the exam, some questions just don’t make sense and some I believe truly have more than 1 correct answer.

I’m off to the ICND2 now, goodluck to all of you that still have to do this 1, just like any other exam, if someone else could pass it then so can U !

  99. 9tut
    January 29th, 2013

@ciscoteacher: The premium membership is only for the Composite CCNA exam, not for ICND1 & 2 exams.
