    Hello fellow 9tut menbers,

I passed the exam today with a score of 892, after failing twice and getting a score of 771 each time.
I was able to lay my hands on Pass4Sure. I would suggest that you use either Pass4Sure or the resources
matty produced on this website, read it well, and I can practically guarantee that you will pass. The owner of this website is doing
a noble, philantropic job of helping potential CCNA candidates. I express my profound gratitude.

9tut is a very useful website for passing Cisco exams. 9tut ROCKS!!!

Good luck to you all! God bless.

Passed with 865. YAY. BEtween Pass4 sure actualtest1.9 and matty, you should be set. I had the VTP lab with the domain and mode. I had the VLAN hotspot that had the question that ended in t1lnet and the frame relay one where all you need to know is show frame-relay map.
    There were a few ACL’s

A NEW mix and match that gives 2 ACL configuration command as your configuration and you must match 5 source ips protocols and ports to the deny or allow match column.

The company wants to filter out the internet from the employees from the following subnet, given the following confiuration, which sources will be allowed or denied access.

So know ACL! Other than that, most if not all the questions were mentioned in the dumps. NO IPv6 on mine and no vpn. THANKS honabusa matty dude and the entire community!!!!! Ask your questions now and I will check back and answer as many as possible in the next 24 hors

    @honabusa
thanks a lot for dump, it’s 2nd attempt for me too, i think that there is no tracking system of q&a submitted to the first time, i believe instead they are random.
Instead i want to know if during the 10 min exam preparation, when they asked if he attended a course or self-taught, can influence the score of the examination, i’m definitively paranoid …

@honabusa The answer you are looking for is probably yes. Emphasis on the probably. No one knows for sure when they will mix it up. The sooner you are able to take it again, the better but if you take it on a friday and they change it on a saturday and you take it again on a monday, you are out of luck. My strategy is… Study what people are saying they have seen on their test. in my case it was VLAN, VTP and Frame Realy, I studied them to where I could write them out on the dry erase sheet they give you in the 15 minute tutorial section. Next I studied all the other ones NAT, OSPF, EIGRP etc… Because while the probablility that I may get NAT OSPF and EIGRP are low, you cant count them out. honabusa, study the labs, open up notpad and write them out without looking at the guide, then go eat dinner or watch a tv episode, come back and see if you can do it again from memory, if so, move on to the next lab, do the same process but this time, try and do both from memory. Keep compounding them.

After my review of the newest pass4sure, its the same as what is posted on the http://www.examsheets.com site. I failed 3 weeks ago and after my 10 years of network admin work, and reading Lam,s Cisco book, using this site, and examsheets… I still failed. But I saw alot of questions Ive never seen. I got like 7 IPv6 questions… I was bummed. Im getting back on the horse now, I had my CCNA in 2004. And my work at that time laughed at me when I said I had it. Now a days, not so much.

I saw about 30% of whats on here and what Ive researched on my own. The CCNA has came a long way in 5-6 years. I did just take the 822 and passed with a 969. I saw all questions on here… go fig

    A – 6to4 tunneling
    B – GRE tunneling
    C – ISATAP tunneling
    D – Teredo tunneling

  46. Diggi
    December 8th, 2010

@ccn, that is a tricky question. It believe it has to do with path cost.

Switch C is the root bridge because it has the lowest MAC address.

So Fa0/1 and Fa0/2 on Switch C are Designated ports. (Answer E has been eliminated)

Since those are Designated ports that would make the Fa0/1 Port on Switch A and the Gi0/2 port on Switch D Root Ports by default.

(So Answers B, and F are correct)

Since there is only 1 root port per non root bridge that means that Fa0/2 on Switch A and Gi0/1 are Designated ports.

    (So Answer A is correct)

Now here is where it gets tricky!

Notice how Switch C -> Switch A -> Switch B has a higher path cost then

    Switch C -> Switch D -> Switch B ?

The connection from Switch C –> Switch A is a Fastethernet link while the link from Switch D –> Switch B is a GIG link.

That would make Gi0/2 on Switch B the blocking port. (So Answer C is eliminated)

Since GI0/1 on Switch D is Designated that would make the GI0/1 port on Switch B a root port. (So Answer D has been eliminated)

    Hope that helps explain things.

i just retook my icnd2 exam today after failing it exactly 1 week ago. This test was definitely different then last week. My first test was made up of over 90% of the questions i found on this site. This test was only 60-70%. Some of the questions i had this time were:
the sim with MidEast, DeepSouth, MorthCentral. Same questions but the results in config were different than last time
VTP sim, Same tasks but last time was first available IP and this time was Last and names were different.
OSPF sim, Same questions and answers
Drag Drop- had one with holddown timer, poison reverse, LSA and Split Horizon
also a new one that showed an access list statement and gave 5 choices. then 3 were permitted and 2 were not permitted to internet
Questions from Seen on test document: # 3,4, 16( with different hosts) 41, 162, 64
questions from exam_questions_icnd2_oct_2010 document: #5, 11, 49(ospf), 57, 64 , 67 (corp4, branch2) , the one with Vlan 10,15, 20 but question was different. asked if this statement was added which vlans could talk see each other, #25, 28 ( one with switch C fa0/2 designated, fa0/1 root) , one with PVC STATUS=Inactive,
After i get some more time i will try and find some of the others i saw. This site was defiantly a HUGE help.
    Good luck to all!!!

    Dear All,,

I passed this Monday with 916!!! I cannot possibly continue typing without thanking you exchanging information on the exam here! In particular I would like to thank Sir 9tut for making this site available.
I believe it is safe to say that Cisco ran out of inspiration since I got the FR and the VTP question that everybody got. After the exam I talked to a guy who did the exam at the same time and he said he got the same FR and VTP as me AND he was doing the test for the second time as he failed it the first time. I believe it was Honabusa who was looking for this information.

    What I used to prepare:
    Odoms book
    CBT & Trainsignal videos
    Matty’s (aka The Hero!) doc
    a couple of vce’s

In all I would say that the book covers all and the videos leaves big gaps. They will, however, make you understand the book much easier so I suggest you watch the videos first and then read the book.
Also, although doing exam training like the vce’s and Matty’s dos is vital, it is not the only thing you should do. Many questions seem to have similar topology and so but have different details and therefore different answers than the questions you will train on. So what I urge everyone to do is to not just look WHAT the right answer is but WHY it is the right answer. And of course why the other answers are not right (and what should change to make them right). For example, in the FR question in my case there were passwords configured for each branch office in the running-config of the main router.
So take your time, don’t rush yourself into scheduling an exam but take a week extra. It will save you a lot of sweat during the exam.
Matty man, hope to see you in the CCNP part. I am going for the Switch exam first!
You all take care and hope the above is helpful!!
    Good luck with your exam!!!

  53. honabusa
    December 8th, 2010

@Zizco….. Thanks for the answer of my question…….

Have u seen questions that come in exam from Latest P4s above…..???

  54. Zizco
    December 8th, 2010

    You are welcome Honabusa!!
The latest P4S came in a little late for me as I had already scheduled my test. I went through the first 20 pages of questions last weekend and it seems very valid: I saw several questions back on my exam. But as I said earlier, I would not look at the questions like P4S and Matty’s doc alone: they are there to validate that you understand the material rather than than you can memorize a number of questions.
I have seen you around a bit of time, I think you are ready for the real thing. The longer you wait, the more change that Cisco changes the questions. The thing now seems to be FR and VTP. I was a little scared for the exam too but I passed. You are not less than me, you can pass as well!!
    Good luck!!!

Has anyone figured out a way to view either Matty’s doc or honabusa pdf so that you don’t see the answers in green right away?

I like to use braindumps to verify that I have have the knowledge needed to pass the exam,
but having the answers right there obviously makes that impossible.
Short of converting those docs into VCEs, is there any other way you guys can think of?
    Viewing them in black&white maybe?

And thanks to Matty, Honabusa and everyone else here contributing!

  61. Zizco
    December 8th, 2010

    Hi John,

As I wrote earlier I think that we are a little more dynamic than Cisco is, the questions seem to change very slowly. The P4S file is very valid but you will have to know what you are doing to be able to pass the exam. And passing the exam should not be the goal: being able doing the job you will get with your CCNA certificate should be the goal.
    Good luck with your exam!

    Hi,

First I want to thank Honabusa for his P4S post, the 9tut folks everyone else that helps and shares over the forum.

That being said I wanted to know if someone knows how to approach the question in page 86 on Honabusa’s ICND2 P4S 272 questions.pdf document.

The question is at the bottom of the page and is a simulation that has Router1 and building_1 and building_2 swtiches they are connected via VLAN Trunk and they each have 3 hosts connected one of the host is a Console.

Can someone help providing the commands that need to be used in order to finish the question?

The question does not have a resolution.

@Honabusa – Do you have the answer for this one?

    Thank you!

    @honabusa – Thanks man.

I am planning to go soon hopefully before the end of December. I will give it a shot and see how it goes…I will post back and share what I have seen.

Can someone provide some light to this one…

If you are configuring OSPF and there are 2 loopback interfaces Lookback1 -> 172.16.5.1 and Loopback2 -> 10.154.154.1 what Router ID will OSPF use for the router?

Loopback is always prefered VS physical interfaces but what happens for this example? Which one gets picked by default? The one with the lower IP address?

    Thank you!

  72. Messi
    December 9th, 2010

    Forget about it…

OSPF picks up the highest IP address as a router ID. If there are no interfaces in up/up mode with an IP address, it returns this error message. If there is loopback interface will go with that one but will pick the high IP.

The following anwser in P4S seems to be wrong can someone confirm?

Which of these 2 statements regarding RSTP are correct? (choose two)

1.) RSTP cannot operate with PVST+
2.) RSTP defines new port roles
3.) RSTP defines no new ports
4.) RSTP is a propietary implementation of IEEE 802.1 D STP
5.) RSTP is compatible with the original IEEE 802.1 D STP

    The P4S anwser is:

RSTP defines no new port states
RSTP is a proprietary implementation of IEEE 802.1 D STP

    What I think is:

RSTP define new port roles – WHY – STP: Blocking, Listening, Learning, Forwarding, Disabled
VS RSTP Root, Designated, Alternate, Backup, Disabled

RSTP is a proprietary implementation of ieee 892.1 D STP

    Is that correct?

  74. sisco
    December 9th, 2010

Sorry the other I wanted to say is 5.) RSTP is compatible with the original IEEE 802.1 D STP

    So the answer will be:

RSTP defines no new port states
RSTP is compatible with the original IEEE 802.1 D STP

    Quick question.

If you are connecting a switch to a Router and you are configuring a TRUNK what type of cable do you need?

    Crossover?

  76. messi
    December 9th, 2010

    @notready

Traditionally, you used a straight-through cable for connections between un-like devices (PC to switch, switch to router, etc) and a cross-over for connections between like devices regardless of the port type (switch to switch, PC to router, etc). Now, though, most new switches auto-sense when they need to crossover and handle it for you, which is really handy when you don’t have a crossover cable.

So the bottom line is that you do not need crossover cables for TRUNKs (if you are trunking the switch to the router because different vlans) I guess you got confuse because a crossover cable between switches (different devices)

I may be wrong but someone else will provide the anwser in case this one is wrong.

  77. TooMuch
    December 9th, 2010

@notready The type of cable between a switch and a router is always straight-through. It doen’t matter the type of switchport. In fact, nowadays we usually use more fiber to make the trunk link, but thinking in UTP cable, yes… is straigh-through.

Just one note (note for exam). The recents equipements alrealdy have auto sense, this means that it will work with both types o utp cable. Try to connect your pc to another pc with straigh-through and you will see that it will work :).

I will have my exam next day 13. I will post the result here.

    Good luck

@Sisco, I noticied this issue also, but i think (99%sure) that answer 5 is wrong, I never see a lan network with diferent versions of STP running, you need to have the same on both sw.

About the answer 3, I also think that is wrong, with RSTP we have new roles like you said.

  79. sisco
    December 9th, 2010

    @TooMuch

Which of these 2 statements regarding RSTP are correct? (choose two)

1.) RSTP cannot operate with PVST+
2.) RSTP defines new port roles
3.) RSTP defines no new ports
4.) RSTP is a propietary implementation of IEEE 802.1 D STP
5.) RSTP is compatible with the original IEEE 802.1 D STP

So we know for sure that this is right…

2.) RSTP defines new port roles

So what is the second anwser then? Any help on this one?

The question with the console connected to the Router in Barcelona. The Barcelona router connected to Noth and Deep South and NorthLake router (Brach Offices) finally there are other routers on the right hand side USA-CAN, LA-GROUP, AFRICA, SEA

The question – A static map to the LA-GROUP location is required. Which command should be used to create this map?

They provide an output which is for the Dubai Router?

    and the anwsers are:

    a.) frame-relay map ip 172.30.0.3 21 broadcast

    @Sisco @TooMuch

I think the answer for “Which of these 2 statements regarding RSTP are correct? (choose two) ” will be

4.) RSTP is a propietary implementation of IEEE 802.1 D STP

    Check this link out:

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spanning_tree_protocol

    Rapid Spanning Tree Protocol (RSTP)

In 1998, the IEEE with document 802.1w introduced an evolution of the Spanning Tree Protocol: Rapid Spanning Tree Protocol (RSTP), which provides for faster spanning tree convergence after a topology change. Standard IEEE 802.1D-2004 now incorporates RSTP and obsoletes STP. While STP can take 30 to 50 seconds to respond to a topology change, RSTP is typically able to respond to changes within 3*Hello times (default: 6 seconds). The so-called Hello time is an important and configurable time interval that is used by RSTP for several purposes; its default value is 2 seconds.[7][8]

    @Messi,

Check out Matty’s doc, last page last questions. I think you are looking at the same question. Looks like P4S just used the wrong names. The Dubai router is the central one.

@Messi, I think that you are mixing 2 different question. Just look at the question number, one is 23, the other is 238, am I right? IT seems to be the same question but maybe is not. You can see that they ask about LA-GROUP that is not on topology

Just look at that question on Matty Doc.

@all, on question #19 of honabusa’s p4s: an access list question that start like this: prevent telnet traffic from Graphics dept from reaching the HR server attached to the easfield router but allow other destinations.

access-list 101 deny tcp any any eq 23 permit ip any any

    answers: B, C, F.

I totally disagree with these answers because it basically defy the opposite rule of acl which, if you have an extended acl then you must apply nearest to the source. the answer was applied closest to the destination. Anyone agree or disagree ? let me know your thoughts?

    Congratulations @honabussa :).

People, one issue… on PS4 question 229 (pag165) we need to choose 3 correct RSTP roles.
Looking at the question I believe that we have 4 correct answers. options: A,B, E and D is also correct right? anyone can confirm? In swB Gi0/2 is non designated (block state) and Gi0/1 are designated.

@axis, I think that the answer is correct. With that acl (that block all telnet trafic to all destinations), and thinking that you will not be able to telnet ONLY to HP Server, the only way to use that acl is in Easwtfiel out interface. If you apply that acl nearest to the source you will not be able to telnet anyone…! Of course that the best answer should be another acl with destination 192.168.17.252 applied at westfield E0 interface.

  95. axiz
    December 10th, 2010

@TooMuch, thanks that sound convincing to me otherwise they could have just applied a standard acl. with same result.

and of course question 229 (pag165) as you’ve said that sound a little confusing to me. Which switch was the root bridge by the way? I tried to understand that it’s going to be SwD because it has lower bandwitdh cost to reach it. if it’s the root bridge then Gi0/2 and Gi0/1 should be both designated but in the selection that “F. Gi0/2 is root” then SwC should be the root bridge which is also justified by choice “B. SwA Fa0/1, root” and of course SwA’ Fa0/2 will oviously become designated. but why would SwC become the root bridge first? should the lowest path cost be first to observe rather than mac address?

  96. axiz
    December 10th, 2010

@TooMuch, just disregard my previous comment of question 229 (pag165). I did a little review after typing my previous comment and here how should it go.

SwC becomes the root bridge because it has the lowest mac address. bdw root bridge election is based on priority then mac address. since there is no priority value then will consider second which is mac add.

SwC ports become designated ports because it’s the root bridge. thus SwA Fa0/1 and SwD Gi0/2 become root ports and SwA Fa0/2 as designated port.

Therefore choice A, B and F are all correct.

Choice E. SwC Fa0/2 root – SwC will never be have a root port because it’s the root bridge therefore choice E is wrong.

Choice D. SwB Gi0/1 designated – this is also wrong as this should be an alternate port.

  97. TooMuch
    December 10th, 2010

@axis, stp do not use bandwitdh. First you check the priority, the sw with a lower priority will became the root brigde. If all the switchs have the same priority then you use the sw with lower mac add became the root bridge.

In p4s question the root bridge is sw C because have the lowest mac. So, all sw c ports are designated. The ports of the others sws that are directly connected to sw C are root. Now you need to find the sw that will have the block port. Find the sw with the big mac (sw B) and the interface of that sw with big value gib0/2 in this case. This port will be blocked. The other one is in designated state.

I think that this is the right solution

Dudes and dudettes! Just passed in the 900 range, 2nd time taking this. Definitely a ‘weed out’ exam if you ask me. I’ve been a network tech/engineer for 5 years and read both the ICND1 and 2 books. Believe me when I tell you EVERYTHING IS FAIR GAME and TIME is PRECIOUS. Passed ICND – 1 first try. Not that bad. Here is my advice… Read the books, be able to subnet fast and accurate. USE the BOSON exam, it’s WAY harder than the actual test and will prep you for changes, I would NOT recommend just studying sims and VCE exam collection tests etc… that will just put you a mode of anticipation and your time is PRECIOUS. Ok… from the two tests I took here is what I can tell you…

Matty’s document is GREAT! Check it out, some details may change about some questions but it is GREAT for review. Thanks bro! Also, I saw the VTP Sim on both tests, lots of OSPF with default routes inside and outside of the area, so know how traffic will flow in those configurations. Know the Distance Vector loop avoidance schemes, know the IPv6 transitioning methods like tunneling types and Dual Stack and IPv6 Group, Unique, Link Local and Broadcast prefixes. Oh! Know about access lists Group Class functionality to stop telnet sessions etc… Know STP and the costs for each interface and how it works! Know Inter VLAN routing and the commands to make it work (subinterfaces and trunk commands). Know NAT for static, Port translation and Dynamic, how to make it work. And the last thing I can think of is know ACLs and how do figure the wildcards (just subtract from 255) and the numbers that you can use for extended versus standard and what will be permitted and denied in many scenarios.

It’s a b#tch, but focus on time and accuracy and know the material and you will be just fine. I really hate how they use the small red, white, black and blue diagrams for the layouts. USE HELP features in the sims, but remember you time!

Man, 9tut, thanks for the added help and to all of my fellow CCNA’s and one’s seeking the title! Kudos and Rock On! Matty’s document is Red HoT!

    Guten Taug!!!

    Victor.

@axis, I take toomuch time to write the answer and when i did it I saw that you already had answer.

Alternate? Ok thks, I need to read more about it, I thought that alternate is only in a sw that have a root port and 2 other ports to another sw (one designated and other alternate).

First I wanted to congratulate Honabusa.

I have been reviewing the posts on the forum and I have seen that the Simlets that are currently used by Cisco are:

    1.) vtp sim
    2.) ospf simlet
    3.) Frame Relay simlet

Are these on Matty’s document or P4S from Honabusa?

Are there any other sim that we should be aware of?

I am planning on taking the exam this coming Wed 15

    Thanks!
