They also asked me a question that wasn’t in the dumps about what device was connected to a fastethernet port of a switch. It showed mac-address-table and there were multiple mac-addresses for that port. I answered a switch was connected to it… pretty sure thats right as a switch doesn’t tear off the Layer 2 mac address I don’t think.

    It would be a Hub

Today i have passed icnd2 in Russia/Kazan. There were VTP lab and Frame Relay sim. And all other questions from Cisco.ActualTests.640-816.v2011-01-10.by.ADAdmin.502q.
For prepare i used CBTnuggets, Odom’s book, dumps and of course 9tut. Hope this information will be useful.
Good luck for all, and will meet in CCNP topic 😉

    Sorry for my English 🙂

    I have a question regarding P4S #223:

Refer to the exhibit. Assume that all of the router interfaces are operational and configurec correctly. How will router R2 be affected by the configuration of R1 that is shown in the
    exhibit?
The answer is: “Router R2 will not form a neighbor relaftonship with R1”

I don’t see why that is. Could anyone please clear that up for me? THX!

    February 19th, 2011

Passed ICND2 with 851 yesterday and gosh, the exam is so much tougher than ICND1 which I took last week.

As usual, 9tut is a great help in the simulations, but don’t depend on dumps, more than 50% of the questions had changed.

I was lucky that I did not depend fully on dumps. I have prepared quite well for the exam and if I had relied solely on dumps, I am dead. Moreover, many of the answers in dumps are also wrong. You have to understand in order to know that the answers are wrong.

So, it is important to prepare yourself in understanding the topics fully. Dumps will only help in hitting you on areas that you may have missed out. Treat dumps and a practice.

Good luck to you guys who will be taking the exam soon.

I wouldn’t let Just Passed scare anyone. If you can pass ICND1, you can pass ICND2. It is actually easier, overall. It is all of the same principles with just a few wrinkles thrown in. Doesn’t even add up that he took them a week apart, unless he is already doing this in the industry and had to pass them for his job.

Hey All, So I have my ICND2 test in 2 days, been studying like crazy. CBT’s, read the books…etc. I just purchased P4S and there is 503 questions! Anyone know of a better study guide for questions where there arent so many? If not, how do you guys go about studying for this with that many questions.

Last question (I know, so many…) What Sims and Hotspots will be on the test now? Thanks so much guys, WONDERFUL SITE

Anyone who states here that the dumps aren’t really valid and that it is much better to study hard and know the material is a Cisco troll for sure. While I agree with the need to know the material and not just pass the exam by learning the dumps, you will pass that way. So don’t even listen to the trolls. I’ve taken 3 IT exams already and the dumps were very accurate in each case.

    I have a question regarding Luukash’s P4S #223:

  9. Restricking Telnet access to one sesion?
    February 22nd, 2011

I have been trying to confirm an answer to a question but I have had no luck. I recently took the part 2 test and had a question about limiting telnet to only one connection.

    I chose

    Line Vty 0
    Password (password)

Does that sound correct? Does only enabling the password on the first line only allow one connection to telnet? Would setting a password on teh first two lines only allow two connections?

    For instance would:

    Line VTY 0-1
    Password (password)

    Allow two connections?

Also if its correct does it have to be the first line IE 0 or could it be any line?

    Would

    Line VTY 2
    Password (password)

Do the same and allow only one connection?

    Thanks in advance!

Use an ACL. Port 53 for telnet.

!— This command is used to permit Telnet traffic
    !— from machine 10.1.1.2 to machine 172.16.1.1.

access-list 101 permit tcp host 10.1.1.2 host 172.16.1.1 eq telnet

@Restricking Telnet access to one sesion?

Not sure about the answer, but I usually try things out in Packet Tracer to see what happens. Great way to memorize stuff.

  12. Restricking Telnet access to one sesion?
    February 22nd, 2011

    @shawn

Thanks for the input but if I recall the choices correctly using an ACL was not an alternative given. I think the other two choices referred to the console line so those are obviously wrong.

    So it came down to

    Line VTY 0
    Password
    Login

    Or

    Line VTY 1
    Password
    Login

This question was on the test I took last week and I can’t seem to find the answer anywhere.

  13. Restricking Telnet access to one sesion?
    February 22nd, 2011

    @In2weeks

I should have thought of it before instead of searching the web. I used Packet tracker and confirmed to allow only one connection to telnet use:

    Line VTY 0
    Password (password)

if you want to allow two line use:
    Line VTY 0 1
    Password (Password)

    You can not use:

    Line VTY 1
    Password (Password)

Apparently the lines must be enabled with a password in order. You can not assign line 0 no password and line 1 a password, if you do no access will be granted.

This was on a recent test for anyone getting ready to take it.

    February 22nd, 2011

@Restricking Telnet access to one sesion?
Oh ok, didn’t know ACL was not an option. I put down the incorrect port number for telnet, it’s 23.

I found this question in this dump: http://www.examcollection.com/cisco/Cisco.ActualTests.640-816.v2011-01-10.by.ADAdmin.502q.vce.file.html

A network administrator needs to allow only one Telnet connection to a router. For anyone viewing the configuration and issuing the show run command, the password for Telnet access should be encrypted. Which set of commands will accomplish this task?

    A) service password-encryption
    access-listl permit 192.168.1.0.0.0.0.255
    line vty0 4
    login
    password cisco
    access-class 1

    B) enable password secret
    line vty0
    login
    password cisco

    C) service password-encryption
    line vty0
    login
    password cisco

    D) service password-encryption
    line vty0 4
    login
    password cisco

    Answer: C

  16. shawn
    February 24th, 2011

I would think that A could be the correct answer as well.
Why is C the better answer.

The VTP and Frame – Relay sims were there. There was only a handful of questions from 9tut and the document that I earlier on uploaded.

    @shawn

The question wants to allow only one telnet connection at a time from any address, and also wants the telnet password to be encrypted in the config (service password-encryption)

    A) Allows up to 5 telnet connections (line vty 0 4) from any IP address in the 192.168.1.x range

    B) Allows only one connection (line vty 0), but does not encrypt the password config password (service password-encryption)

    D) Allows 5 telnet connections (line vty 0 4)

hey guys, I got a sim today in my icnd2 exam.

The sim shows a router connected to a switch to another switch
    eg

    ROUTERSWITCH1SWITCH2

The question asked to complete the config on SWITCH2 by using the last ip in the subnet of SWITCH1 as the default vlan router ID, set switch2 to the vtp domain of SWITCH1 and to client mode.

    The router is not accessible.

the ip of SWITCH1 is 192.168.43.93/27

Is this sim here cause i couldn’t find it?

  25. ICND2 Feedback
    February 25th, 2011

    Hey guys
I just passed my ICND2 exam today and I will give you here all information about the exam.
    Labs:
VTP Lab, was exactly the same as the one on this site under the ICND2 Lab section
Frame-Relay Lab, pretty similar to the one here under the CCNA Hotspot section (you need show frame-relay map and show run to figure out everything)

Drag and Drop (every question was from the 15.6 dump and this side):
VLSM: You have a pic of a network with a few routers and have to drag the rigth ip address/subnetmask to it. For example; Router 1 need an address for 20 hosts, so you can take the answer with a subnetmask of /27 and so far
    OSPF/EIGRP difference:
You have to drag the right specification and features to the right protocol
    VTP Ports:
Features of access and trunk ports

    Others:
IPV6, two questions, one with the technices of tunneling and one with which address is a valid ipv6 address
OSPF: some questions about network problems in a configured network. you have to figure out whats wrong (mostly ip addressing problems in the diagram)
EIGRP: some general questions about features
Mac: Some questions about a shown mac address table. what is connected to this port or what happens if that frame comes in
I felt like most of the questions where in direction routing protocols and their behavior like forming neighbor ship, sending updates, fail to convert e.t.c

All the questions on the exam were from the 15.6 dump and from this side. If you learn on this side and know the routing process and protocol specific behavior you are good to go!
I would not have passed if I would not have seen this page a few days before 🙂
Thank you to everyone and good luck all of you!

    February 25th, 2011

Just took the ICND2 today. I had the VTP sim question and the frame relay hotspot for sure. Mostly I got “Pick the best answer” questions which ending up probably screwing me. I got 750, after I know for a fact I aced the sim and all the simlets. No idea what I did wrong. basically I’m letting you all know that these are still the sims you are going to see on the exam, along with the same tricky wording cisco is famous for.

I’m taking it again next week and I plan to pass.

i wish everyone else good luck and I hope that this entry helps you all out.

EIGRP: some general questions about features
    IPv6 : features

    Hey Guys,

Passed to ICND2 to day with a 878 score. Just want to ask thanks everyone on the side specially Gap and CW!!!

Most question where similar to the once found here on 9tut or in the 15.6 dump. I studied hard, read the official cisco ICND2 book twice, did lots of exam examples and used the dumps and did the packet tracer sims over and over. The dumps are great for prep work but I would say that knowing understating the material repays off.

Now for the break down, Had the frame-relay and VTP sims, few question on ACL and NAT, 2 question on IP6, couple on ospf and eigrp as well as 2 questions about telnet password as posted above.

Finally I would just like to thank everyone again and wish you the best with your exam. See you on CCNP / CCVP side.

Again thanks you to everyone, and see on the CCNP / CCVP.

Hi All, passed my ICND2 today with 878. Just one SIM and that was the VTP SIM. 2 OSPF Hotspot questions, had the ‘Hold-down timer / Split horizon’ drag and drop, all straing forward and from the dumps. Lots of VTP questions, only 1 VLSM question,. Overall I’d say 70% of questions were from the last examcollection vce practice exam – with slight variations. Oh well, it’s taken me 4 months is all but I now very satisfied to have achieved my CCNA. Good luck all!
I must confess that taking the Exam in Singapore, allowed me an extra 30mins from being from a non-English speaking country, crazy really when SG is an Eng speaking country, but I’m not complaining, I needed 15 mins of the extra 30.

I guess I am blessed to have completed the ICDN2 prior to the big change Cisco made at the end of January. Since then I have finished my CCNA Voice, CCNA Wireless, and CCNP Wireless (Ugh, 4 exams for that one)! CCNA is by far the hardest exams (ICDN1 & ICND2) that I took for Cisco. Through all my other exams I had multiple choice and drag and drops only. No Sims…. and honestly no subnetting. Highly recommend the p4s stuff….. Cisco Packet Tracer…. and TUT.

Hey all, managed to scrape a pass on the ICND2 in the UK yesterday.

Had a drink to celebrate so here is what I remember being in it.

    Frame Relay and Routing hotspots.

    VTP Lab

    Operations – Questions 1, 3, 5 and 7.

    Subnetting 2 and 3.

Drag and Drop questions 2 and 3.

That’s all I can remember. The 15.6 helped as did stumping up for the Boson ICND 2 exam simulator.

As other people have said, know your shit. Study, practice taking exams with Boson/VCEs and then spend the day before getting to the big ones so you’re prepared when they come up.

    Good luck all.

Question, I am writing the ICND2 Exam soon and was wondering if anyone can tell me which .VCE file to use on examcollection? Any insight into the labs?

    March 9th, 2011

@ADAdmin2 Labs are listed here: https://www.9tut.net/category/icnd2/icnd2-labsim Highly recommend you get a copy of Cisco Packet tracer and run through the labs many times. Be sure to check out http://www.9tut.com/ccna-hotspot-questions and scroll down to the Hotspot Frame-relay question… it seems to pop up on every exam. As for the VCE file, I will bow out and allow the others to help you. They change names and locations so often I have not kept up. Good Luck!!!

@ They don’t give up… 8^) CW has helped many off us on this site to pass our ICND 2, so do not show disrespect!!

    1. You have not earned the level of respect that CW has though helping many of us.
    2. You have not been part of the Community long (and your going the right way if you never want to be part of it)!!

I just passed the 640-816, I used the latest .VCE file on examcollection for studying. As for the LAB’s I got 2. Frame relay and VTP & 3 drag and drops. I used boson for the lab sim stuff and used wendell odom for the reading and quickcert for the video training. I took this exam once before and failed but passed a month later. Recommendations, know the show commands and what exactly they well show you, in regards to subnnetting create an IP map that maps CIDR to # of hosts like, /25 = 126 hosts = 128 subnetmask. I also used this site but not as much. I have to say though without sites lke this I do not think ppl wopuld be where there at afterall cisco words there questions to the point that leaves alot to be interpeted the wrong way so thx to all of you who help make it happen.

Quick subnet mapping that helped me and might help others:

    Hosts/CIDR     128    64     32     16      8       4      2      1
    Bits                 1       1       1       1       1       1      1      1
    Prefix             25     26     27     28     29     30    31     32
    Subnet mask    128    194   224    240    248   252   254   255

You can also add on wildcard masks as well. Also under the correct host bit column I wrote out the networks address that are linked to the host bit, ie. Host 32 – networks = 0, 32, 64, 96, 128, 160, 192, 224. Etc.

I wrote this out on to the provided paper/sheet during the practise questions, it a loud me to quickly glance at the mapping and a figure out answers quickly. Also I wrote out the standard formula’s: hosts, subnets, subnet zero, wildcards ect.

Is the VTP sim everyone has mentioned the 5 question VTP simlet on the CCNA section, or the VTP labsim listed for ICND2?

  69. CW
    March 10th, 2011

@Confused It is the VTP Labsim.

  70. Passed!
    March 10th, 2011

Just finished the exam and passed. I had an OSPF simlet, Frame Relay simlet, and VTP labsim. 2 drag and drops. Most stuff was covered here, there were a few surprises.

I passed my ICND2. Thank you for everyone on this website.
To remember all 500 questions from 15.6 very hard and it takes time. I think it easier to read books and learn real material, since you will need it in future. I read about 150 questions from 15.6 and can say I saw some them on the exam, but I cant tell if all of them was exactly same. Seems like they had some little changes.
    Good luck everyone!

I passed it from second time. In both exams I had VTP sims and Frame Relay hotspots same that was shown on this website.

When I take my ICND2 (next) week, just “know” the counting by 16/240, and write them all out before my exam..MAD Helpful on the CCENT!

THANK YOU 9TUT, this site is GENIUS! YOU Spread the knowledge, YOU LEARN!
    Hosts/CIDR 128 64 32 16 8 4 2 1

I have heard that the VTP/Frame Relay Sim are blanketing the EXAM these days however, I’m assuming the addressing schema varies/changes for each exam given? So don’t memorize, or expect to get the same IP Range/Schema…but the question is simliar correct ? ?

Thanks to all your DONATE $$$, if this site helped you PASS! DONATE $$$ Give-back!

I used this table – it saved a lot of time for me:

It took about 15 min to draw it before exam started.

Edgar, can you answer my VTP/FR Sim question please? In that the addressing schema varies/changes for each exam given? So don’t memorize, or expect to get the same IP Range/Schema…but the question is simliar correct ?

  78. *Vash*
    March 10th, 2011

I’m also using GNS3 lab Software for the SIMS, is this better then using Cisco Packet tracer?

    Thanks Cisco Enthusiasts!!!!

  79. Edgar
    March 10th, 2011

Vash, I had exactly the same single sim on first and second attempts : https://www.9tut.net/icnd2/icnd2-labsim/vtp-configuration-sim#more-129 but with with different ip addresses. Frame relay question was similar on first and second attempts, all what I used is show run and show frame map commands no configuration, exactly the same as in 15.6. Don’t expect to have same IP schema. Questions are similar.

Outstanding, thanks so much for the response! Glad you passed on your 2nd attempt, somtimes it takes a trial to get used to the exam scenario..Cisco exams can be indimidating, if your NOT ready for the exam I have found. Failed 640-801, passed CCENT and now looking forward to passing ICND2 to complete my CCNA!!!

Edgar, what’d you use to practice LAB Sims homey? ?

  82. Stephen
    March 11th, 2011

The VCE tool I use which is a full version doesnt allow me to drag-n-drop bits? Is this normal (Im using 15.6 dump for practice). It has a.b.c.d. selection but no indication what they mean so I cant do the question properly.

    Am Im missing something?

  83. In2weeks
    March 12th, 2011

    @Stephen
It’s not the vce program, it’s the dump that isn’t fully working in this case. Nothing you can
do about. Unless you fire up the designer applet and smooth that out yourself.

    March 12th, 2011

    @In2weeks
Thanks for feedback, I think between cbt nuggets and ccna simulator a colleague got on a course and reading here I should be ok. Failed ICND2 at beginning of March and booked another exam end of march so am now bricking it, I know the stuff but I paniced and my brain just froze.

    Hi
    I see reference to 15.6VCE
Will try and find this one – does anyone have link?
I agree about Nuggets. I use the Nuggets video and follow his setup and examples in Packet Tracer.
Stephen, I edit the VCE using the editor program and create my own drag & drops. This helps to get the VCE working like actual exams. Many VCE are straight copies of Pass4sure etc,
It helps to do this to retain correct answers. If you need editor let me know. The editor is usually included with VCE test engine. I use 30 day free license of Snag-it to create drag and drops.
    Thx

Funny – I am already editing AAdmin! After critiquing the link this is the exam VCE I have been working on.

I split the total questions into 6 exams on the VCE exam editor and am repairing the drag & drops. I am also researching the questions on the Cisco KB and adding valuable comments to each question. This is slow going but is one of my study methods. It forces me to read more.

Since this particular VCE engine seems to be good and well accepted here I will upload my modded version once I make enough progress on the editing. As I said this is only one of the tools I use to study. Thanks for all your comments and good luck on the exam. I will be monitoring this thread.

    Thank you everyone…

    neither link works for me…
Failed exam on Friday, 798. VTP sim was on test. Most of my questions were on the lastest vce from Luukash. I’m going to look at 15.6 now. Re-test this Friday…pas or have to take the 801 since CCNET runs out before I could test again if needed. Shouldn’t be a problem with all the help I have seen here. Thanks and I’ll update on Friday.

Yeah – ICND1 – I missed that exam the first try by 1 question – 79x almost like you. Passed last monday.
Today is a bad day for me also – evidently when I was uploading my master file got corrupt. I lost about a weeks work however I still have my bitmaps/jpg’s and am going through the exam again. I had a backup but it did not cover everything. So hold on and I will work this again this week.
When is CCNET running out as I just passed ICND1 last week? Do you know something I don’t? This happened to another associate at work and he has to take ICND1 over again but took the exam almost 3 to 4 months ago right before the change.
    thx
    H.

I passed mine yesterday with 892, I had VTP sim, frame relay, some easy drag and drops, I messed up on some of the multiple choice questions which is why I got 892.

@Kubs!! Which VCE did you use for practice ?

What’s this talk about CCENT and CCNA changing? Have I also missed something?

  95. andermle
    March 15th, 2011

CCNET is not running out….my 3 years to renew is running out. If I don’t pass the 816, I’ll have to re-take part 1 or the 802. As I understand it, you have to have a valid part 1 to take part 2, thus being the same as just taking the 802. Sorry if I caused any confusion. I’m re-taking the 816 this Friday.
