Cisco Scared…
When you can look at the syllabus and say you know the material, when you can run the a VCE and pass with consistent results, when you can go through the material SIM on this site and know them, when you can use the Cisco subnetting game and know the material, when you can pass the chapter exams in CiscoPress and know the material and read each chapter in detail – then your ready… ( at least this is what I do however many of you may find another way) – I failed my first ever exam and it was Cisco. Passed all my Novel, MS$, A+, S+, IBM etc. etc. Failed on my first Cisco exam ICND1 and retook the exam a week later and passed – You have been through ICND1 so that should give you a sample of what is expected of you. I think we all get the gitters and “What If’s” when we schedule – Good Luck…

I believe the routes on the other side of R2 will be the advertised routes via ospf as the serial link between r1 and r2 is directly connected. there are 4 of these routes. 2 serial ones on different subnets and 1 on a multi-access lan which is a Designated Route , and one on the same multi-access lan which is the Backup Designated Rotue. If both DR and BDR are in the routing table then its 4

would be my educated guess

I sat for my ICND2 yesterday and passed. I had the VTP and Frame Relay sims. Alot of questions on ACLs and NAT. Alot of Drag and Drop questions as well. I wish to thank 9TUT and everyone else for the contributions put on this site.

Thanks for everyone that put a lot of hard work on this site and also into the .vce dumps. 1 question is the “Cisco.ActualTests.640-816.v2011-03-21.by.ADAdmin-Rev26.vce” the latest one?

Thanks again.

Hi,
Just failed ICBD#2 for the second time. 40 questions within 75 minutes. I ran out of time again. Was doing ok til had about 6 mins and 6 questions left, so tight but doable, then the second questions was a sim πŸ™

Got the vtp sim, frame relay from ccna hotspot, and maybe an ospf sim, cant remember now. lots of queries about ACLs, routes taken. several involving subnets and some nat and outher routing protocol questions.

I must learn to type faster and read faster I guess, bit of a kick in the teeth but at least when I finally do pass it I will know that I understand it. (744 needed 825 / 100 to pass)

I forgot to mention, there was one question which threw me a bit. If a router is running all three of rip2, eigrp and ospf, and discovers the same network route via each protocol, which will it add to its routing table, or will it add all 3, or whichever has best metric. I chose best metric but was only an educated guess really.

17. Bailey
March 30th, 2011

@ stephen
“If a router is running all three of rip2, eigrp and ospf, and discovers the same network route via each protocol, which will it add to its routing table, or will it add all 3”
the answer for ..the answer should be EIGRP. Cos the router will use the administrative distance to choose the best protocol to believe and the lower the better
EIGRP is 90
OSPF is 110
RIP is 120
so the best is EIGRP

Passed ICND 2 today! 9tut and hmeister was really a big help! took the exam 3 times and vtp, frame relay, ospf was on each one! last time missed it by one question and this time i got 900 on the exam!

@Punisher! I Used CBT Nuggets, Train Signal videos and CCNA study guide by Todd Lammle. Then went through the questions on this site and 9tut.com. As for the exam, I saw maybe 8 – 10 questions from the http://rapidshare.com/files/453577469/Cisco.ActualTests.640-816.v2011-01-10.by.ADAdmin-Rev24.vce and even then, Cisco are so clever, they manipulate the questions so if you don’t know your stuff then you will get lost. I also found that speed and confidence is a key in passing this exam. All the best.

March 31st, 2011

@Bailey
I did wonder about that , couldnt remember admin distance for RIP2 but knew EIGRP was 90 … guess I will know now!

Ive rebooked my 3rd attempt on 10th now… must do lots of vce over next 10 days !!

Hello All!!!!

Today I gave my ICND2 exam and passed . Got 878/1000 which was below my expectations but still I am happy b/c now I am a CCNA. Got VTP simulation and one simlet on frame-relay.Both were similar to the ones present on 9tut.Also one thing I noticed in the VTP simulation was that INT vlan 1 was down on both switches.I tried no shut but no change. I spent nearly 10 mins to figure out the problem but I had to move on since I don’t want to screw up rest of my exam.

Also there was a new testlet on OSPF which contained 4 questions on the topology shown in the link below.

http://img59.imageshack.us/i/capture1jn.png/

4 or 5 questions on routing. I think one or two were new and one of them was quite difficult.Sorry guys don’t remember one bit about the new questions.

Study from Lukaash and Gaahl files and you will be fine.

One thing which I noticed in the exam was that around 20 questions were related to VTP, VLANS and switches.

Another big topic which was covered was related to NAT and ACL(7 or 8 questions). Most of them were new and some of them were in drag and drop format.

In all 4 or 5 questions were new.

Please study hard and use CBT nuggets .Thanks to 9 tut, this forum and to the people who uploaded vce files on examcollection.

Good Luck!!!!

I don’t think we are ever going to get closure on that OSPF Question that says when Classful Routing is in place, how many networks are there. Others contributing to the site say 4 and others say 2. The key word is Classful. There are 2 networks.

I heard of that same issue on an exam a buddy failed, where he Could NOT Bring the Building_2 SW VLAN1 online, so he didn’t think he had the correct addressing???

He was sweating it..however it looks like you PASSED Congrats man, Perhaps that VLAN1 being “Down/Down” by design to waste your time?

Not Sure there…

I have a question regarding question…

What is the meaning of output MTU

Is it
1… the minimun packet size that can tranverse the interface
2… the maximum packet size that can tranverse the interface

29. nagamin

CONGRATS!!
Please, in that vlan down problem, do you remember?
vlan1 down line protocol down or vlan1 up line protocol down?
if vlan1 down line protocol down you can’t ues no shut command.
is that interfaces has the same duplex speed? we need to check individual inetrfece.
if on protocol side, should be dynamic mod problem.
Anyone had idea.

MTU means maximum size of IP packet that can be transmitted without fragmentation.

Hello All!!!!

I would like to mention one thing clearly that the exam only asked to configure the gateway, modes, ip address and domain name on building switch-2.It also clearly mentioned that building switch-1 config was alrite and no changes were to be done on that. Also line/protocol(yes both of them) of the int vlan 1 on both switches were down.

I did not check whether the router was accessible or not but I dont think this is the key to the int vlan 1 problem on the switches.

It is my opinion but I could be wrong that it was intentionally done to waste time. One more thing which u should check is whether both switches ports are configured as trunks.

Hey, I’ve got 1 question regarding 1 answer from Cisco.ActualTests.640-816.v2011-03-21.by.ADAdmin-Rev26.vce Exam B, Item 22

http://img707.imageshack.us/img707/9230/item22.gif

So why is the answer B ??? My guess is should be A…can someone please explain this?? Thanks a lot.

34. Mr Ekko
April 1st, 2011

or D….

35. Mr Ekko
April 1st, 2011

Another one nuked from Cisco.ActualTests.640-816.v2011-03-21.by.ADAdmin-Rev26.vce Exam B:

The answer is surely A….

36. nagamin
April 1st, 2011

Yes, I’m agree with you. Router A will replace fa0/0 intreface MAC in source MAC.
You can watch in packet tracer simulation/ auto capture.

37. nagamin
April 1st, 2011

But when you look in Host A arp with arp -a, you will see only Router A IP and it’s fa0/0 MAC.
So, according to Host A arp cache, option D. 192.168.6.1 000f.2480.8916 will be correct answer?

38. Mr Ekko
April 3rd, 2011

Yeah, D was(is) my guess too…

Anyways, got another one from exam C, this time:

http://img715.imageshack.us/img715/5608/item2.gif

So why is A.C.F. the answer and NOT A.C.E.???!?

Isn’t the F0/2 the forwarded int?????

39. nagamin
April 3rd, 2011

Yes, A,C E.
Host B was connected to Fa0/2 visa switch, not on Fa0/1.

Mr. Ekko…

The ACF I think is correct as the question reads “received” from Host A…
So the data is traveling away from Host A…
So the data is going out Fa0/1…
Thoughts?

44. hmeister
April 4th, 2011

Mr. Ekko…
The ACF I think is now not correct after a second review again
So the data is traveling away from Host A… but on to Host B.
So the data is going out Fa0/1… BUT HOST B IS ON fa0/2???
F does not look right either…

Thoughts?

Hi hmeister!

answer. D said router will strip off destination Ip address and replace … etc.
router will not strip off ip address, router will only strip mac address and replace with own mac address in source and next hop mac address in destination.

47. Mr Ekko
April 4th, 2011

hmeister,
tnks for replays.

regarding the question. Well, it’s says from hA to hB. hB is on F0/2. So is there where the frame is going after the steps in A. and C. …

πŸ™‚

48. nonentity
April 4th, 2011

i agree, it should be ACE. the question is a combination of layers 2 and 3

49. Bailey
April 4th, 2011

the answer for that question is ACE… MAC address is locally significant while IP is globally significant. Here is how a packet will travel from host A TO B
1) LEAVING Host A it will have the MAC address of its default gateway which is the fa0/0 of router and IP address of host B.
2) getting to the router it will assume that the message is for him as it has its MAC address..it will strip off the MAC, Upon seeing the layer 3 address it will know it is not for him and will just route it to the right interface which is fa0/2
3)arriving at FA0/2, FA0/2 will put its own MAC address as the source and the MAC of host B as the destination add…all these communications is just within layer 1 and 2 , never get to layer 3 until when host 2 receives it.

Took the exam today, fail i got 811 and need 825, i think one queston to pass…. Too many new questions, sim was vtp, and frame-relay, a lot of ospf. Some drag and drops about split-horizon etc. Will try again…..

51. nagamin
April 4th, 2011

Thanks Bailey, that make alot clear.
I like to know is there any case data frame had stripoff ip addrerss and replaced with new one while traveling source to destination?

52. nagamin
April 4th, 2011

you almost there angry guy, go and get it.

53. Bailey
April 4th, 2011

@nagamin ….NOPE
The fact is that these devices use the information provided on the header to determine the action to perform….
the action is from Layer 1 to 7
1=bit/electrical signal
2=mac add
3=IP add
4= port #
when a packet is received on an intermediate device, it goes through the physical which is a must for all devices the packet lands on,,,,,
after that it checks the frame header and when it sees its MAC ADD it will strip it off assuming that the message is for him, but seeing the IP header with an IP that is different the device will not strip it that is the Integrity of the DATA/PACKET……
That question that you just asked is a known hacking and vulnerability when a device strip off an ip add that does not belong to him…
But on a normal operation, ip address source / dest will not change but mac will from one device to another…
thanks

54. Bailey

As stated in the beginning of the VCE – Disclaimer etc. – I don’t think there are any VCE’s out there with some type of issue or questions that are subject to critique either because they are flat wrong or the wording is not accurate and/or vague.

Hi all, Base on the exam I took yesterday, The lab sessions are VTP sim. OSPF & NAT sim!
The VTP sim only came out at the last but two question:(
So manage your time well so that you have enough time to do the lab session.

Got a lot of Access-list questions> as mutiple choice and Drag and Drop. The CCNA test paper will be slightly different from what we read from Hmeister’s VCE 26.

I think myself did not prepare the access-list part well so that I waste a lot of time on that.
but still I got 20mins+ left after I finished the last question. (There are 40 questions in total) for ICND2.

Some ICND1 questions repeated in ICND2 if you guys took ICND1 recently. Like what is the purpose of service-encryption commands, I choose the command will encrypt all the password you set up in cisco switches and routers.

I hardly remeber the Protocols questions. There are too many and I think I mixed up of them when I try to recall~~ OSPF is the most probably questions tested! EIGRP is the second most one. I am not too sure about the answers to them.

Hope anyone can share with us here.

I willl try to recall more infoms ! Thanks guys and thank you 9Tut

Took my icnd2 today and passed with a score of 911.

Sorry it was about 12 hours ago so can’t remember that much, although mine was very similar to “share ICND2” expierence as above

I only had 2 sims though which were the VTP & frame relay (hotspot sim)
I think nearly a quater of my exame were drag and drop questions, all were on 9tut
I also had a few questions from icnd1 too, mainly regarding service password encryption

I also had about four ipv6 questions, all of them i’ve seen in p4s.vce

To LJ: Could you tell us what is p4s.vce. I might take a look and recall the exam questions for all.
Thank you!

Took ICND2 yesterday (couldnt post, really busy work, etc.) Passed, thought I’d share since this site has really helped me with studies. Had 3 or 4 drag and drops, 1 SIM (VTP), 2 show commands SIMS (1 frame relay, 1 OSPF), 2 or 3 IPv6 questions. It was a little harder than I thought, but I did pass and I’m glad because like some of you I don’t have the the money to be paying to test again and again. FYI, getcertify4less.com has vouchers for sale sometimes. My methods of study were: cbt nuggets (watched those videos 2 or 3 times no joke), ICND2 Cisco prep book and read almost every chapter alot, and lastly examcollection.com (lukash and hmeister). Thanks to you guys whoever you are, it really helped to practice with what you provided. BTW, I did NOT practice with packettracer or GNS3, just had very little time actually, but I did read ALOT and went over stuff I had trouble with more than once. My point, if I can pass it by doing it this way, so can you. Don’t get me wrong you MUST understand why things work the way they do, so study and if you don’t get it the 1st time, study again and again until you do. It’s that simple. No one will do this for you, and if you really want this, do it. Good luck to you all. Next up: CCNA Security by the end of May, will post again then.
