    @Walter

I had the frame-relay sim that had 4-5 questions in it. The VTP Config. Sim required me to enter some commands. It’s like the one from 9tut. Btw, here’s the ACL page: http://www.9tut.com/ccna-access-list

Some of the access-list questions from the ICND2 exam were from the ccna access-list page. I just realized that I didn’t have the ACL sim haha I got it mixed with another SIM on my exam.

Goodluck, Walter! Let us know how did on the exam.

    Exam B30
The first line permits host 192.168.254.7 anywhere
The second line permit any any
None of the other lines will be processed.
Therefore the answer is D “All traffic from the 192.168.254.0 LAN to the internet is permitted”

    QB46
Question wants you to block traffic FROM graphics dept TO HR server but allow to everywhere else. Your answer does the opposite.

The correct answer is to apply it on Westfield EO Out

    QB10
    Answer B “SW1 (config-if)# switchport trunk encapsulation dot1q”

    This command does not exist.
“encapsulation dot1q” is used to assign a sub-interface on a router to a specific vlan.

    QB2
192.168.45.159/27 is definitely invalid because that’s a broadcast address
192.168.45.164/30 is definitely invalid because that’s a network address
With 4 IP addresses left and 4 holes to fill it all looks good.

    But…. surely 192.168.45.197/28 (which is 192.168.45.192 up to 192.168.45.208) overlaps with 192.168.45.249 (which is 192.168.45.192 up to 192.168.45.255) ???

    Am I missing something?

Ps. Great work on posting this. It’s helpes me a lot

    QC63
Typo in either answer A or the last line of the arp table. MAC address for 192.168.40.1 does not match

  9. 1ontheriver
    June 6th, 2011

    Q C62
F is incorrect, it should be answer E. The router’s ARP cache believes the IP address corresponding to host B is on FastEthernet0/2. Even though this is not correct it does not know that yet.

Based on the information given in the question the packet will go to the wrong place initially so the answer is ACE

    B30
    yes, agreed, my bad… again…

    B46
ok, gave this one some more thinking and…

No telnet from Graphics Department to HR Server.
Telnet from Graphics Department to anywhere else.

From the above we conclude that the access list should be place closest to the destination as possible in this case (even though it is an extended access list).
If we were to place it closest to the source then all telnet traffic from Graphics Department would’ve been blocked.

Answer: BCF (Eastfield Router, Ethernet 0, outbound)

googled a bit, found this site:
    http://www.ciscopress.com/articles/article.asp?p=29803&seqNum=3

yes, cisco gave up ISL and opted for the standard encapsulation (802.1q) and there is no need to set the encapsulation on a trunk link no more.
still, there are switches that may use ISL. the questions says to set it up for the default IEEE encapsulation, using the <> is the only way.
thanks for pointing it out, sorry for not changing anything

    B2
i went back to check the oldest version i had with original drag and drops and this is the way the numbers came.
but… that doesnt mean you are wrong. i was too focused on the mask and not looking at the valid range.

Yes, you are right. Typo on my part this time. Incidentally, you had this right in version 1.09 but it got changed to an incorrect answer in version 1.093

    Q E64
F is incorrect because its a network address. The correct answers are B and E

  15. 1ontheriver
    June 6th, 2011

    Q E25
I think only answer B is correct.

    A. Loopback addresses are on different subnets – This has no effect on OSPF so it’s wrong
    C. Route summarization is enabled on both routers. – This has no effect on OSPF so it’s wrong
    D. The process identified on router A is different than the process identifier on router – I assume this should read “The process identified on router A is different than the process identifier on router B” (added the B on the end there. To my knowledge the OSPF process IDs do not need to be the same on different routers as they are locally significant. Only EIGRP AS numbers need to match across routers.

  16. 1ontheriver
    June 6th, 2011

    Q E60
Answer C cannot be correct because that would be checking for a duplex mismatch which is impossible because the output shows as UP UP
The only logical answer from the two remaining choices is D, check encapsulation on SwitchA since we can already see the encasulation of switch C from the output

With that said, I don’t know how you would go about this. I bet it is something dating back to legacy days of ISL like B10 above??

    Q E65

I had this down as two broadcast domains (vlan 1 and Vlan 2) and 5 collision domains. How did you come up with 7? My 5 are as follows

    1. PCA to Fa0/11
    2. PCB to Fa0/12
    3. Switch Fa0/1 to R Fa0/0
    4. Switch Fa0/1 to R Fa0/0.1
    5. Switch Fa0/1 to R Fa0/0.2

What’s the other two collision domains?

Ps. It’s purely cosmetic but Fa0/1 would not show up in the output of show vlan because it should be a trunk port if this config is to work.

    Q E22
PPP is represented by the yellow line D.

The correct answer is A. The hosts communicate over IP. I have linked two seperate sites who agree with my analysis on this one.

can someone help with this question.
What is a vaild reason for a switch to deny port access to a new devices when port security is enabled
a the denied mac addresses have already been learned or configured on another secure interface in the same VLAN
b.The denied MAC address are statically configured on the port
    c. the minimum mac threshold has been reached
    d. the absolute aging times for the denied mac addresses have expired.

  20. Danilo
    June 7th, 2011

    @ Walter,

    Im my opinion, it´s:

A- the denied mac addresses have already been learned or configured on another secure interface in the same VLAN.

Beacuse If you have a secured port with a learned MAC, the device won´t be able to get in another port. Will be an error.

    10.10.0.0/13 is
    10.8.0.0 – 10.15.255.255
10.10.0.0 is a valid IP address if you use the 255.248.0.0 mask (13 bits).

    E25
    fixed

    E60
    “741 input errors, 738 CRC”

We see that there were far more packets that came in than those that counted as errors.
We see that there were output packets.
We see the link as UP UP.
The 3 above mean that the link is operational, encapsulation correctly set.

We see that SwitchC is in full-duplex mode, errors came from SwitchA.

    Correct answer C.

    E65
this is an ICND1 question. i guess i messed up the image while editing in photoshop. fixed now

    E22
well… i chose 9tut’s answer over one from anyone else. i also gave my opinion at the bottom of that page. link:
    https://www.9tut.net/icnd2/miscellaneous-questions
one more thing: the question is about WAN protocols. T1 is link speed, 802.3 is a standard. we count those 2 out.
now… i dont see IP as a WAN protocol, i see it more like a LAN thing.
anyway, i googled around, came across this page and there’s a list of WAN protocols
    http://netcert.tripod.com/ccna/wan/wan.html
    i hate this question.

    June 7th, 2011

    Going back to E60

Get two switched and link them together with a crossover (use packet tracer even). Set up a duplex mismatch and you will see the link will show as DOWN DOWN. The fact that the output shows it as UP UP rules out any possibility of a duplex mismatch

    E22
In fact, the wording of the quesion says “which protocol or technology” is represented by the dahed line A. Ip is a protocol. Nowhere in the question does it refer to a “WAN protocol” specifically, only what protocol or technology is used to communicate between host 1 and 2 OVER the wan link

  30. 1ontheriver

  33. 1ontheriver

    E60
Now that I think about it you are correct. I remember learning that duplex mismatch would allow communications but slowly because of collisions. I remember thinking, “wow, collisions on a switch?”. Somehow I managed to forget all that when I set up a duplex mismatch on packet tracer. Thanks for reminding me its only a tool 🙂

    E22
I see the arguement from 9tut but I am still not convinced. Yes, PPP is required as part of the communication process but the question specifically points at the yellow line. The want to know whats happening at layer 3 between the two hosts IMO. If not, it is just a bullshit question designed to trick you and not test any kind of knowledge at all.

    Hi Everyone..

I passed the ICND 2 exam with score of 874. Here is a summary of what I studied:

1.) ICND2 by Wendell Odom, Cisco Press
2.) Boson Exams for ICND 2 (highly recommended)
    3.) Exam Cram CCNA Questions
    4.) Hmeister’s VCE exams ver 2.7
    5.) This site indeed

I appreciate all the valuable feedback that everyone posted after taking the exam. I would say that there were about 30% new questions other than what I have seen on this site. I would suggest to know the concepts and this where Cisco Press books are invaluable.

thanks for the question. here’s my short answer to it:

    A) Class B IP, using the 255.255.255.0 mask you can have 256 subnets, not enough, you need 300+ (not good)
    B) 126 hosts (this is good), 2^8 * 2^2 = 2^10 = 1024 subnets (this is good)
    C) 255.255.255.252, 2^6 = 64 subnets (not good)
    D) 255.255.255.224, 30 hosts (not good)
    E) 255.255.255.192, 62 hosts (good), 2^11 = 2048 subnets (good)
    F) 255.255.248.0, 2^5 = 32 subnets (not good)

Sim for VTP, OSPF … Subnetting Simlet also. Questions relating to NAT indirectly…

I suggest working on these as the main topics, with profiency in SUBNETTING as even though its not the question, the answer is derived from finding subnet size+ 1st+ last usable addresses etc…

Refer to the exhibit. What commands must be configured on the 2950 switch and the router to allow communication between host 1 and host 2? (Choose two.)

    Switch1(config-if)# switchport mode trunk
    F. Switch1(config)# interface vlan 1
    Switch1(config-if)# ip default-gateway 192.168.1.1

Can someone give ans and explanation?

  58. xallax
    June 10th, 2011

answer was provided on that page, B and E.

The 2 hosts are on different networks:
    Host1 is on network 192.168.10.1/24
    Host2 is on network 192.168.20.1/24

you need a Layer3 device (such as a router or a layer3 switch) to route traffic between the 2 hosts if you want communication to take place. the most cost-effective solution is having a router to route traffic between the networks if you have multiple VLANs (such is the case on this scenario).

One solution would be to attach a link for each VLAN, that would be unpractical, the simple solution is to use subinterfaces.
you create a subinterface for each VLAN (see option B from the question)
in order to have several VLANs’ information traversing the same link you must configure the switch interface as a trunk interface (be it switch to switch link or switch to router link).

hope this answers your question, thanks for asking

Passed this morning, my second attempt. I agree with “Sporty” that 30% of the material than is not captured in the available dumps. The simulations and drag/drop still seem to be accurate. In my opinion here are concepts you must know in order to pass the exam:
    · the complete STP/RSTP bridge and port selection process
    · everything about ACLs, including how, where, and why they are applied
    · subnetting, particularly the efficient use of address space
    · everything about NAT, including how and where the configurations are applied
I would say 30-40% of the questions incorporate these concepts in one form or another.

  60. NiggaPlz
    June 10th, 2011

    Smaller concepts you must know:
    · Which protocols do summarization
    · Which protocols do equal cost/unequal cost routing
    · Default administrative distance values
    · How to preventing hub from connecting to switches
    · The mechanisms available to prevent distance-vector routing loops

@ Xallax can you pls explain me question Q E65 in Routing Protocols (about collision and broadcast domains )

  73. xallax
    June 12th, 2011

first of all, this is an ICND1 question, but you should know about it just as well
there are 2 networks (each router interface equals 1 network. you can’t argue with that)

    collision domains…
everything that connects to a hub is on the same collision domain.
every switch port has its own collision domain as long as the connection is between the switch and a device.
the picture is an abstract view of a network, you have to imagine that those 5 computers link each to a switch port…

    anyways, here’s the justification:
E0 network: 1 CD (collision domain) and 1 BC (broadcast domain)
E1 network: 1 CD between the router and the switch, 5 collision domains between the switch and each host, 1 + 5 = 6 CD and 1 BC
final answer: 1 + 6 CD and 1 + 1 BC, 7 CD and 2 BC. you should be able to answer this question in only a few seconds, i tried to explain what’s in my mind as i see the picture.
    thanks for asking

An administrator is unsuccessful in adding VLAN 50 to a switch. While troubleshooting the problem, the administrator views the output of the show vtp status command, which is displayed in the graphic. What commands must be issued on this switch to add VLAN 50 to the database? (Choose two.)
    http://ccnatrainingexam.com/ccna-bootcamp-vlan-2/
    Q22:
    A. Switch(config-if)# switchport access vlan 50
    B. Switch(vlan)# vtp server
    C. Switch(config)# config-revision 20
    D. Switch(config)# vlan 50 name Tech
    E. Switch(vlan)# vlan 50
    F. Switch(vlan)# switchport trunk vlan 50

    Plz, ans?

  75. Anonymous
    June 14th, 2011

VTP Client does not update its own base..
    So, execute
    – vtp mode server
    – vlan 50

  76. fibonacci
    June 14th, 2011

Both of those commands should be from global config mode- not vlan config.

    Correction needed

  77. xallax
    June 14th, 2011

    Switch# vlan database
    Switch(vlan)# vtp server
    Switch(vlan)# vlan 50

it’s the legacy way of configuring vlan

    @ Xallax Q D67 is wrong answered !
The correct answer is : C
My Explanation : summary of these networks 192.168.25.16(,20,24,28 ) is 192.168.25.16 255.255.255.252 because these networks are from 256-252=4 (0,4,8,12,16,20,24,28 subnets)
    or am I wrong ?

    @mirza
what’s a summary route? multiple routes into one. it’s how routers compress information about routes and thus are efficient.

    you have those networks: .16, .20, .24, .28
step a bit backwards and look at those as just IPs. what subnet would be best fit for the range .16~.31? answer: 192.168.25.16 255.255.255.240

hope it provides you with an explanation, thanks for asking.

I’m going to take my exam tomorrow 🙂 two months of preparing after I passed CCENT from first try 🙂 I hope it will be same for ICND2.. A lot of preparation (average 4-5h in a day),a lot of practicing in PT and GNS3.Xallax’s 521 questions from VCE is done with about 91%,Cisco Press is finished too,Train Signal videos are watched two times and CBT Nuggets too,and of course this site every question in CCNA and ICND2,lab simulation, hotspot are finished too ! There are few questions that I dont understand but it is irrelevant in relation how well I know about RSTP,STP,VLANs,VTP,ACL Subneting and OSPF.Little bit confusion about EIGRP but I will try ”chew” it today ! Especially thanks to you guys, big thanks for Xallax.I promise that every ”strange” question that is not from any VCE exam,I will remember and post here ! Hope that will God be with me and that I’ll be calm for the longest 125 minutes in my life !

just passed 916. thanks to everyone on this site. without this site sorry couldn’t passed. there is no reason for someone on this site to fail. 80% of the questions are good. didn’t had to read many questions cause this site had the same questions. anyone taken the exam go through the 502 questions and now why this answer is correct. i got the VTP SIM and the frame relay question. I had the last IP address on the VTP LOL there were two switches and you had to configure one. the other switch you had to get the default gateway and the ip address which was in the 255.255.255.224 RANGE and the VTP domain name. Practice this VTP sim over and over and you wouldn’t have any problem on the exam. thanks again to everyone here..

Mirza the VCE test engine i used was from pass4sure and the version is 5.0. The icnd 2 is changing. Theirs like 10 question that where different from what i haved studied and the last version of testking is very useful. Help me a lot. It feels awesome to be a CCNA Certified.

PS: DANILO right now im studying for the CCNP Routing exam. Im in the EIGRP part. I recommend that everyone that is preparing for CCNP level to focus on the routing exam. Its the most difficult of all. All routing is envolved including BGP.

888/1000 vtp sim, frame relay and ospf were on the test. most of the questions came near directly from xallax’s vce. used the odom guide, cbt videos and packet tracer and this site. this site and the vce took me from questioning to confident. Thanks all!

    @xallax
Hi xallax, having an odd query for you. Any chance to share with me a copy of the above vce file in plain (unprotected format, i.e no password to open in Virtual Certexam Designer) please?
If you happy to do so, it would be highly appreciated.

    Few reasons to request this:

    – that way I can learn on my style and speed, (so can reaarange, or break it into smaller groups of questions, or can arrange them as I like)

    – can search to texts so while studying

    – much better to study via the designer than via the Manager.

    – I can promise, I will not make any changes, and will not re-publish it iunless you authorize me to do so.

    Thanks is advance!
