    @ everyone

My download from Xallax VCE site, was corrupted through no fault of his own, not only was he on the ball but he got me the files within 20 minutes, hos VCE is excellent (this best I’ve seen). So if your curious whether 5 euros is worth spending, I promise you it is.

@xallax, I’m still amazed how fast you resolved my issues, thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you…….. you rock!!!!!!!!!!!!

I also thank Xallax. I had an issue with the VCE download and he responded quickly. It is worth buying and it is cheap. If you can afford the exam you can afford a few extra dollars/euros to buy it.

thank you very much for the positive reviews. it’s your money, you worked for it and you should get only the best.
practice the VCEs, visit those forums, abuse the subnet quiz, watch cbt nuggets videos, study study study, pass the exam!

Thanks 9tut great site. Passed ICND1. On the security question with router and console and switch and console they ask if these device configs are good security practices ie secret passwords, logins for console and vty lines. Know how to subnet and the private and public subnet classes. Also network and broadcast addresses.

    Hi All,
I am taking the ICND1 exam very soon. Has anyone done this exam lately?
If so how was it?Can you share your experience?

    Hello Xallax, students.
Can someone explain the answer from the vce?
Section: Scaling the IP address space.
    Question 28.
    I don’t understand why the answer is: 172.1.4.0/22 ??
Also how do you get that the block size is:4.0 and that it corresponds to a subnetmask of 255.255.252.0.
I watched the cbt nuggets twice and understood how the route summarization is done, however in this exercise I dont get the right answer.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hello Xallax, guys.

    Hello Again,
Also question 36 from Section: Scaling the IP address space.
I get the answer of: 10.0.0.0/23
But it says the correct answer is 10.0.0.0/22
    Thanks

  12. xallax
    August 31st, 2011

    @spainvasion
i don’t know what question is #28, but i guess you are referring to question 6 from this link:
    http://www.9tut.com/ccna-operations

    you have several networks.
the first network starts at 172.1.4.0
the last network ends at 172.1.7.255 (it has a /24 mask)
    the range is 172.1.4.0 ~ 172.1.7.255

that entire range can be comprised in a block of 4.0
how did i get that block?
the next IP after 172.1.7.255 is 172.1.8.0

    172.1.8.0 –
    172.1.4.0
    ________
    000.0.4.0

block sizes are powers of 2 and they start at a value that is a multiple of the block size.
our block size is 4.0 and starts at a multiple (172.1.4.0), it comprises the entire network range (all 5 of them in one summary)
    C is correct.

    @spainvision
access-list question #4 is already explained by 9tut.
my explanation is similar to the one above with one small change: we use wildcards for access lists instead of subnet masks.

please provide me with a link for “question 36 from Section: Scaling the IP address space” or tell me from which VCE it is. thanks

  14. spainvasion
    August 31st, 2011

Hi Xalllax, thanks for the explanations.
    A couple of comments:
    1. in regards this:
please provide me with a link for β€œquestion 36 from Section: Scaling the IP address space” or tell me from which VCE it is. thanks
    – Dont worry I got it right, i was doing the wrong match.

    2. Ijn regards your explanation above:
    you have several networks.
the first network starts at 172.1.4.0
the last network ends at 172.1.7.255 (it has a /24 mask)
    the range is 172.1.4.0 ~ 172.1.7.255

I still dont understand how you get the correct answer is C:172.1.4.0/22
How do you get the mask is 22???
    Thanks

  15. xallax
    August 31st, 2011

a block of 4.0 is enough to comprise those networks, you agree on this

to get the subnet mask we do this:

we subtract 1 from 4.0, we end up with 3.255

    255.255.255.255-
    000.000.003.255
    _____________
    255.255.252.000

    255.255.252.0 is… /22 πŸ™‚

it’s not hard, simple math πŸ™‚

    @spaivasion
what mask would be used to summarize the fallowing networks:
    10.10.8.0/26
    10.10.8.64/27
    10.10.8.96/27

    is it 10.10.8.0/25?
    please explain πŸ™‚

  20. chabert grougnaff
    August 31st, 2011

    @xallax
“transform” the last octet in bits
    10.10.8.0
the last octet means 0000 0000
    10.10.8.64
the last octet means 0100 0000
    10.10.8.96
the last octet means 0110 0000
Now count from the left to the right the number of identic bits beetween the 3 subnets and it gives you the Mask = /25

  21. xallax

    Thanks a lot.

Took ICND2 exam twice so far (776 and 804). Found this site while Googling for practice tests. Would love to see Frame Relay Q&A. One particular question was a simlet that had 4 one main router with 3 serial connections to 3 other routers and a connection to a frame relay that had 4 routers on the other side of the cloud. The question asked what DLCI number would connect to a certain IP, password for one of the serial PPP connections, and which serial connection was using HDLC vs PPP.

  56. Trucker99
    September 8th, 2011

Passed ICND2 today with a 900+ score. Big thanks to the TUT – even after doing all of CBTNuggets, Cisco Press and many many practice labs – still I think going through everything here gave me the passing edge.

The tests themselves are constructed in such a way that you need to be prepared for the *style* of questions as well as knowing the topics. Many people state that know the concepts not the dumps – this is true but I think you should specifically target knowing the point behind each question and knowing why some answers are not valid…this is invaluable.

Also writing down on the supplied board a subnetting guidance chart like a summary chart was a big help….like a calming effect so you can concentrate on the actual questions.

About 50% of my questions were new.

  57. Bob
    September 8th, 2011

    Hi Trucker99,
What sims did you have on your exam ?
how many questions in total ?
Any new question that you can remember?

  58. Trucker99
    September 9th, 2011

    @ BOB

    43 questions – and 2 major sims
I can remember only parts of new questions.

In the Hotspot Sim – remember the show frame-relay pvc command. Remember usually every questions requires some command action to be taken. The single questions I just cannot remember.

  59. Gavin
    September 9th, 2011

    Pass the ICND2 today!!!!! I so f…… happy πŸ™‚

    passing score 888 pionts

I’m still under shock i cannot recall the single questions, just that got 45 questions 4 sims.

The NAT sim, but the ip for vlan 1 was not on the show run command of the already configured switch beware you must use show ip interface. I saw the default-gateway ip in the switch only after i ran the show ip interface and then re-run the show run command weird. Got the frame-relay sim but 2 of the 4 questions was not same as on this site b careful know your frame-relay hard. The sim require you to use the show frame-relay map command and show run.

4 new question on STP, VTP never saw before. Also about 3 new questions on access-list know your access-list well my friends, the questions was very very hard.

Got another new sim, i can’t remember now, i will post it when i got a goog night of sleep πŸ™‚

Time is very very short, i spent more than 15 minutes on the nat sim, i tried not to panic when i didn’t see the ip for vlan 1

What else, about 4 drag and drop i think 2 are on 9tut and the other 2 on XALLAX vce.

Xallax, i thank you so very much for your help man and also i just want to tell you that you have a very big heart and god will bless you πŸ™‚ i mean it, you are a great guy for helping so many people you do not know.

Thanks 9tut for this great site, it was my best resource ever.

This exam was the hardest certification i ever took, the MCSE exams are not same level as this exam, i sat for 7 microsoft exam and the ICND1 exam but this ICND2 exam is very hard, know your stuff well otherwise …………….

Good luck to every one, hope to see some of you guys for the CCNA Voice site.

My study materials were Cisco press, CBTnuggets and plenty of sites on specifics topics but the most value resources are found on this awesome site 9tut and what you guys make of this site.

  62. Nate
    September 9th, 2011

I passed the ICND2 today with a 916. I didn’t think I would do it at the end. This is my 3rd time taking it.
Lots of tricky questions, and lots of new questions.
The vce will help you to understand the question, but not the concepts.
I studied with the transignals, packet tracer, and brain dumps.

The first 2 test I put too much faith in the vce, i didn’t understand the concepts the test was testing. This time taking it, i felt more of an understanding of the concepts, and I passed.
Extremely challenging test. For those who are about to take the test. use the 15 minutes of practice time to dump all you can on the white board giving. It will help you when it’s crunch time.
Good luck to all. Now on to work on my CCNA security

    September 12th, 2011

I barely passed ICND1 on my 1st attempt on 5/13/11((CCENT seems pretty useless)) but cannot say the same for ICND2 using only Transcender ,Packet Tracer, and New Horizon’s Cisco books. I did not find this site until last week after a random Google search out of desperation and now wish I had not rushed my attempts to get my CCNA despite a job offer contigent on passing ((Got the 2-hour interview before the 1st attempt, but lost the opportunity after the 2nd attempt.))

I have taken the ICND2 twice in a 3-week time period and the highest I got was 778. My third attempt is tommorrow and will cost me $ this time but hope has returned after being here.

After reviewing this most excellent site, there are definitely some familiar questions here, but have to say I agree with Molric’s recent post about test questions/SIMs arising from both CCNA/ICND1 & ICND2 9tut websites and appearing on the ICND2 exam.

One SIM that has popped up twice on me is the CCNA HOTSPOT SIM with multiple-choice, multi-questions. I remember one like this because I wasted so much time on this SIM just trying to comprehend what it wanted that I could not finish the test on my 1st attempt and barely finished my second attempt. So, I hope this site will cut the time on the multiple-choice,multi-questions since I have seen 2 or 3 like these on both my failed attempts.

    Good Luck to all.

  69. CrazyDude
    September 12th, 2011

On my first attempt on icnd2, I was just not ready. But I do remember at least 4-5 ipv6 questions, don’t see many here. Has anyone else noticed a number of them on this test?

  70. Jeff
    September 12th, 2011

And you have to know what would be in the result of various show commands or the show commands themselves. That is what I am reviewing right now. I am planning to take INCD2 next week or next next depending on the testing center’s available slot. MrYotsuya’s advice is concrete. Read a book, answer review questions there, participate in the discussions here, on cisco’s learning center and take the practice exams there. There are also learning modules and short but very challenging exam questions at the end. And practice sims on PT or GNS3.

    @anonymous..

how could u sit for CCNP without a CCNA cert ? just curious

  79. Anonymous
    September 13th, 2011

@ios_image: Easy. You can take tests for anything you want, but you won’t get the certification until you pass the pre-requisites. I have ICND1, failed ICND2 and ran out of time before the start of CCNP bootcamp. I went to bootcamp, took all 3 tests (ROUTE, SWITCH, TSHOOT) and passed. Now I need to go back and get ICND2 before I’m a CCNP. The pre-requisites are just something Cisco requires.

no, not yet. classes start in 2 weeks and i’m still caught in the middle of something.
i brush my concepts every day reading 9tut.net/9tut.com so… no loss there

If you are stuck for $$ you can try Vittana.org – I will sponsor two full people for full CCNA if they need.

The way you guys are talking, getting the CCNP certification is easier than getting the ICND2 certification. I just took the ICND2 last week and ran out of time. If I only got 3 more questions right I would have passed the exam, time runs out fast.

  86. whatever
    September 14th, 2011

Brett – I failed it the first time because I ran out time by spending too much time on sims & simlets where I got stuck on the last command. Answer what you can and move on. It’s better to get partial credit onthe sims and simlets rather than let time run out. I didn’t feel well at all, got stuck on the first sim (I had to sleep all day the day and all night the day before the exam, and felt terrible) on the very last command, but instead I just saved the config and moved on – if you know enough you can just keep on going and take your chances. If you run out of time you don’t get the chance to answer. I had enough confidence to just keep on going, plus I wanted to go home and get back into bed.

As it turned out, I had 10 extra minutes! And was shocked that I passed, just barely, but a pass is a pass is a pass. When I got home to check what I got stuck on, I was so brain dead, couldn’t remember ip domain-gateway, grrr – I do that sometimes (forget the really easy stuff).

Congrats, I’m happy for you for passing the ICND2 exam. I plan on taking it over soon and it would be nice if I got the same test. lol I know that’s not going to happen. I got the sim right but I took more time than I thought. I didn’t have but 75 minutes to take the exam and man it went fast.

passed ICND2 today, labs were vtp configuration sim and frame relay hot spot question. One question in frame relay was to find the dlci for a given ip address 172.30.4.4, but the sim displays 172.30.0.4. It is a mistake from Cisco. Go ahead and find the dlci for 172.30.0.4 and submit it. Another question was 2 switches were connected via a trunk and the administrator configures the trunk to access mode on one of the switches. The question asks to find what happens to the communication between hosts on both switches. Answers were no hosts can communicate, only hosts in vlan 1 can communicate etc. Thanks 9tut for your amazing help for all of us. Thank you 9tut, going to donate the best I can.

Typed wrong ip address for the vtp configuration and couldn’t change with the ” no ip address x.x.x.x 255.255.255.x”, spend a lot of time to figure it out. What I did was typed the correct ip address at the interface and it took. Good luck to all!!!!!!!!!!

    I passed the ICND2 today with a 888 score. I had 43 questions,

    This VTP sim:
    https://www.9tut.net/icnd2/icnd2-labsim/vtp-configuration-sim#more-129
(Had to use the first usable ip address, which is the third usable ip address since the default gateway & first switch use the first and second address already).

    This OSPF sim:
    https://www.9tut.net/icnd2/ospf-questions
(This had the same diagram with 4-5 questions and I know for fact I had Q1 and Q2, couldnt remember the other two)

    This Frame-Relay sim:
    http://www.9tut.com/ccna-hotspot-questions
(I had 4 similar questions, with different names. Make sure you know the concepts, because it is sort of tricky)

    Drag & Drop:
    https://www.9tut.net/icnd2/icnd2-drag-and-drop-questions-2
    (Q2 and Q3)

I had a couple of ipv6 questions, a route summarization question, and also be familiar with understanding the network diagrams with the routing table as it relates to eigrp and ospf.

Thanks 9tut.net, for helping me prepare for this exams and identifying the areas that I am weak in. When taking this test make sure that you pay attention to the wording of the questions because some of the questions are very tricky. Also, make sure when studying for the test that you learn the concepts, insteady of memorizing dumps, because they do change the wording of the questions which will produce a different answer.

    @CrazyDude,

I also has a few IPv6 questions when I took ICND2 on 9/2/11. Not what I expected. I thought that I knew it fairly well but the way the questions were worded threw me off. I feel that i know the concepts, it’s just the way the questions are worded that gets me.

Yesterday, I got my CCNA, I must admit it was a fair exams, I was rushing and I should of take my time as I got over 15 minutes left.

I’ve listed the major topic that I have encountered during my exam.

    This VTP sim:
    https://www.9tut.net/icnd2/icnd2-labsim/vtp-configuration-sim#more-129
(Exactly the same format just change the IP range sunbnet).

    This OSPF sim:
    https://www.9tut.net/icnd2/ospf-questions

    This Frame-Relay sim:
    http://www.9tut.com/ccna-hotspot-questions

    Drag & Drop:
    https://www.9tut.net/icnd2/icnd2-drag-and-drop-questions-2

My advice is to know concepts and focus on the topic that you’re weak at.

My study materials are listed below.

    CBTnuggets.
    Cisco Press INCD2.
Actual-test from xallax and totally worth for 6 euro.
Created my lab with SWx3 and routerx3.

Overall, thank you for 9tut website it was very informative as well as xallax’s latest actualtest.vce it give you an idea how prepared you are and don’t memorise it cuz it is over 500 questions πŸ˜‰ but stick the concepts.

Anyway, time for me to enjoy and I will start looking for books for CCNP πŸ™‚

    Cheers,
    Jay

I am using Pass4Sure as a study tool for the ICND2 exam along with CBT Nuggets and Sybex CCNA book. However, I thought I would share for you the superior customer service by Pass4Sure today when I tried to do online chat support with them (Please don’t use them). Below is the transcript, I was shocked:

Call accepted by operator “Cindy”. Currently in room: Guest, Cindy.

    Cindy: Hi

    Guest: Hey Cindy

Guest: Looks like you updated the 640-816 exam and every time I try to check for updates on my software it keeps saying that no update is available.

    Guest: Can you help?

Cindy: You can verify you version by following steps. Click on “Exam” menu in the Product console >> Check for updates. In case of any update is available, it will start downloading automatically. In case you already have the LATEST exam material, the message NO updates will be displayed.

Guest: I purchased this product before the last update, and I never seen it try to update always got a message no update available. Can I find out what version I am running?

Guest: It says I am running version Code 640-816 5.0 is this the latest version?

    Cindy: Duh

    Cindy: Read last line

    Cindy: Of the steps

    Guest: Excuse me?

    Cindy:

Guest: I understand Cindy, but how do I know if it updated properly. I haven’t used this product on this computer since BEFORE the update so when I opened it today AFTER you released the latest version, it still said, No update available. So how do I know I am not using an older version

Guest: And I don’t appreciate the “Duh”

    Cindy: Anything else?

    Guest: Wow, are you serious?

    Guest: Who is your manager?

    Cindy: info@pass4sure.com

    Cindy: Manager Id

    Cindy: complaint@pass4sure.com as well

Guest: I can’t believe that you would treat customers that way, unbelievable. Especially ones that contact you about your product that I paid for.

    Cindy: I told you twice

    Cindy:

Cindy: But you don’t seem to get the point

Guest: Wow, why don’t you quit pasting your script and assist a customer instead of being a smart ass about it.

Cindy: I think you use your brain, and get the hook of it

Cindy: Rather than creating a fuss

    Cindy: And using cheap language

Cindy: I am reporting you now

    Guest: cheap language, like “duh”

Guest: Don’t worry you are being reported as we speak

Guest: to the Better Business Bureau

    Cindy: WOW

    Cindy: We are scared

    Cindy: Please spare us

Cindy: We dont wont to loose our jobs

    Cindy: Please spare us, Please

Guest: Wow, I am not going to get into this with a person that can’t write in complete sentences, but you my friend are the epitome of bad customer service, but then again you don’t care.

    Cindy: Dontr cry

Cindy: Anything else I can help you with?

    Guest: “Yeah, go f* yourself”

    Cindy: Now you cam true

    Cindy: Your real self

    Cindy: Showing now

Guest: you have pissed me off, as any other normal person would be right now. I purchased a product and I expect to receive satisfactory customer service. Why shouldnt I?

    Cindy: I gave you

Cindy: The software is Auto update

Guest: You gave me your script

Cindy: It downloads Updates on Auto

Cindy: Yes, and that you will get forever

Cindy: As that is what we provide customers

Guest: Then I should have never done business with you. It will be one of your competitors from now on, and this transcript is going to get posted where it will hurt your reputation.

    Cindy: Please follow these steps:

    Cindy: But then again

Cindy: You will get NO UPDATES

Guest: Thank for wasting 10 minutes of my life with this information. Bye.

    Cindy: Don’t be rude

    End of conversation.

    Can you believe this crap?

WoW, that’s really pathetic. Pass4Sure is no longer reliable or supportive of their own product. I’ve read somewhere should you fail an exam, Pass4Sure will no longer honor their policy. Personally, I would have gone with TestKing.

Just passed 640-816 – scored 920/1000 Thanks NetworkTut/DigitalTut and Xallax. The dumps on here are some of what’s on the test. I had the VPT sim only. No NAT or OSPF sims on the test. There are a lot of questions on the test that aren’t on this site, nor are they on any other braindumps. I have a huge collection of test engines, braindumps, etc. You need to know the concepts or you’re wasting your time. I know everyone is looking for dumps, but they’re only half the process.

    Peace!
