hi folks, does anyone know how long you have to wait to re-sit after a second fail?

  3. Shaik
    February 6th, 2012

    Hi,

You have to wait for another 180 days to re-take your exam if am not wrong.

  4. Iv.
    February 6th, 2012

no!! i almost sure u can re-sit in 5 days since your failure!!

  5. Alaa
    February 6th, 2012

Yes, 5 days if you fail, starting from the day after the failed exam. For example, if fail your exam on Tuesday, you can retake the exam no earlier than Monday.

The “180 days” is how long you have to wait to retake an exam you passed.

I took it today for the second time and passed. It is the same simulations as when I took it a week ago (frame relay, vtp). 3 ipv6 questions about how to write addresses. ospf simlet basically on how to subnet. go over the stuff a hundred times on this site and you’ll be good.

Took and passed ICND-2 today, scoring 992. I don’t believe there’s been any change to the pool, as lots of Qs were ones from here.

Sims were VTP and Frame Relay, and the OSPF simlet.

    Tab and ? all worked.

    Many thanks to 9tut!

Good luck to anyone sitting the exam soon

    February 9th, 2012

Passed ICND-2 last Saturday with 919 and about 30 minutes left for test. Actual Lab Sim was VTP, found on this site. Same Frame-Relay sim which is on this site; however, you will need to issue show frame-relay map command to find answers to questions. I used P4S dumps, CCNA and ICND 2 9tut website. Also read Wendell Odems ICND2 book.

  16. Nuno
    February 9th, 2012

Passed today with 972! I had the VTP lab sim and the frame relay sim. about only 30% were question from the 9tut ccna website and icnd2.
But if you understand the questions of 9tut you nail the exam easily 🙂

    Thanks 9tut!

  17. Nuno
    February 9th, 2012

Also a friend passed with 983 today. the sims were the same but, by our little chat, the question pool was very different from my exam. He said that about 70% of the exam was here on 9tut and in xallax vce.

    Thanks

    February 10th, 2012

Whew I passed.. Owe a lot to this site.. i would say about 60 percent of the ?’s were on this and ccna site. had the vtp sim, ospf simlet was there (show run worked for passwords) .. 43 questions total , 2 drag and drops (with hold down timer, poison route etc) , i would say about 6 questions were ipv6 , the fill in the ip address drag and drop was there, ummmm when i think of more and add it.

  32. Alaa
    February 11th, 2012

I passed an hour ago. I got the same exact questions like “ICND2 Help” (the post before me). For those looking to study dumps, check these in CCNA PrepKing.640-802.v2012-01-03.by.DHARANI.615q and Acme.640-802.v2011-07-09.by.Collisio.486q. I didn’t go through all the dump questions nor did I memorize them, I only went through them to familiarize myself with exam questions; however, I’d say 40% of the questions were from those dumps. You have to study to answer the rest though.

Note on the VTP sim: on my exam, it said to configure the new switch with the first available IP in the subnet. Be careful and take note of the router’s IP (the default gateway) because it will of course be using an IP in the subnet. In my exam, building_1 switch was using 192.168.43.98/27, the router was using 192.168.43.97/24; so the first available IP address (to assign to the new switch) is going to be 192.168.43.99/24.

Which of the following IP addresses fall into the CIDR block of 115.64.4.0/22? (Choose three)

    A – 115.64.8.32
    B – 115.64.7.64
    C – 115.64.6.255
    D – 115.64.3.255
    E – 115.64.5.128
    F – 115.64.12.128

can someone explain why answer F is not correct in this Answer?

  39. xallax
    February 12th, 2012

    @creationman
    115.64.4.0/22 is 115.64.4.0 ~ 115.64.7.255

115.64.12.128 is outside the given subnetwork 🙂

Hello guys. I am having a hard time reading the Wendell Odom — CCNA ICND2

I am finding this a very difficult read. Actually, I find it very poorly written. The facts are true but the layout and flow of information is horrible. I’ve never seen any complaints so its probably just me

Big John, VTP was one of the SIMs as well. Had a question related to terminal monitor, something about the 2 commands to show error output while connecting remotely. I know one would be terminal monitor but not sure about the other, it was a pick 2. I had a good bit of IPv6 questions, OSPF, and Frame Relay. Know all about DLCI, a few questions on that. Good bit of VLAN stuff. Good Luck big john! I might try again next week after i read up on the areas I was struggling with.

Do we know if any new sims have made it into the exam in the past few weeks?

  67. eradz
    February 16th, 2012

Im also going through the CCNA stuff, If you are going for your ICND2, you should not only run down through the ICND2 stuff but also the CCNA side. I am starting to see alot of stuff on the CCNA side that would have helped me pass.

  68. jn3
    February 16th, 2012

Failed my ICND2 exam today missed by 2-3 questions! If I would have studied more my CCNA questions on this site I would have definitely passed! I looked back after the exam and found many questions on the CCNA website that I missed.
I seen the following ICND2 sims, VTP Configuration sim, NAT Sim, OSPF Sim. (Not all were sims but questions on that sim.)
I seen the following CCNA sims, Access List 2 sim, EIGRP Lab sim, frame-relay sim, Hotspot Routing question. (Not all were sims but questions on that sim.)
If you study both ICND2 and CCNA website you should pass this test. I lot of WAN stuff, access-list, IPV6 questions. You need to know what a legit IPV6 address looks like. Lots of subnetting questions. I used up all my time with 6 minutes to spare. The ICND2 VTP sim got me, running the “show running-config” there is no default gateway present. I could not find this and did not know the command to find it. I tried “show interface”, show cdp neighbors and cdp neighbors details, nothing! Also the exam said use the first IP address available on the subnet. Retaking the test in two weeks, will let you know the outcome, thanks 9tut! As always learn the material, in the real world it won’t be this easy! 🙂

  69. Anonymous
    February 16th, 2012

? if the show running-config doesn’t work then how can you find the default GW

  70. Saurabh
    February 17th, 2012

@anonymous : if “show run ” does not work..on SW

here 2 cases occur…i will describe them individually..

1.) if single router is connected to lan (switch). then you can do
    > sh ip int brief = to show the switch ip add. on vlan1 interface
    or
    > show int vlan1 = to find ip add. with mask.
    > now, the default gateway must be a router + an ip add. within a range you found.
    > now issue “show cdp neighbors” = which will show you interface of SW connected with device having capability ” R ” (router). Now, issue “sh cdp neighbors detail” to find add. of that router as it must be your default gateway.(as n/w only has single router)

2.) Now > here problem arises when 2 or more than 2 routers are connected to same subnet then all will have ip add. configured within a subnet range.

    > for eg: R1 > 192.168.1.1
    R2 > 192.168.1.2

    > here when doing “sh cdp neighbors” , it will be ambiguous that which one of above is default gateway…??

    > trick is = do “sh int vlan 1” on SW, looking at subnet mask & ip add. to find the range of add. in the same lan ( i.e for which sw will not use default gateway).
Now issue a “traceroute x.x.x.x ” cmd where “x.x.x.x is any add. out of sw’s LAN range, no matter available in topology given or not..
this will make switch to send packet to default gateway ( further gateway will discard packet), and the first line will show the first hop add. to which packet is sent, which of course will be “default gateway”.

This 2nd case trick can be used in case 1 also….!!!

    HOPE it HELPS..!!!!

  71. Rick
    February 17th, 2012

You can also use the command ‘show default-gateway’

  72. Saurabh
    February 17th, 2012

    @rick

no such cmd exist in cisco packet tracer….

  73. Rick
    February 17th, 2012

    @saurabh

Hmm, also try show ip redirects

  74. Rick
    February 17th, 2012

    @saurabh

My bad, should also have been show ip default-gateway

I’m not certain these commands will be available on the exam though…

  75. Saurabh
    February 17th, 2012

    @rick

i also think, these will not be available in exams..

    packet tracer only has

    sh ip arp
    sh ip interface
    ah ip access-lists

no other “sh ip ? ” cmd exists….

Sims..vtp and Framerelay. OSPF multiple questions. 4 drag and drops. 3 from sites. 3 ipv6 question. same as here. vlan stuff. same as site.
thanks alot to 9 tut. and every one who share experience on this site.

    passing score??

  80. Lanz
    February 17th, 2012

Same vtp sim that I encountered .190 as well for vlan management(190 is the last usable host).

Two sets of drag and drop pertaining to hold down timer, poison route, split horizon and others. Two drag and drop for VLSM subnetting.

New question I guess regarding the advantage of Cisco WAN implementation over point-to-point. One of the 7 choices as I remember is scalability, less cost.

Another question that you need two answers is the recommended topology to avoid split horizon (Choices like Point-to-point. Mesh Topology etc).

So, I have been reading this forum carefully and I am still confused as to why certain simple commands would NOT work on the VTP sim. Has anyone resolved this, is it that ppl are not typing in the correct commands or that the “show” commands dont work??

  86. Rick

  87. Gadget
    February 17th, 2012

@Lanz, how did you work through the VTP SIM command issues? Did “Show run conf ” work for you?

  88. jn3
    February 17th, 2012

@eradz, no, failed the exam. I missed it by 2-3 questions. If i would have studied the CCNA website questions and sims more I would have passed definitely. I seen a fair amount of questions from CCNA website. I did not use any other practice tests, except Transcender’s ICND2 and they really are not anything close to what the questions are on the CISCO exam. They cover the basics. If you study the CCNA and ICND2 portion you will pass this exam, keeping in mind you know the basics of subnetting, router/switches commands.

  89. eradz
    February 17th, 2012

@jn3, lol same here. I started viewing the CCNA side of this website and it definitely is good. I recommend studying both the ICND2 / CCNA if u take the ICND2. I think I will try again wednesday! I needed to brush up on a few things but im ready now 🙂

@new guy…..jn3 (above) mentioned the show running config command not working for the vtp sim. Did it work for you? Sitting exam next week any additional info is greatly appreciated

  93. Jan
    February 18th, 2012

Passed today the ICND2. I got questions about info that were not here or in the Odom’s book (latest edition). I didn’t tried the vce’s.
But if you guys study the CCNA and ICND2 website, studied your subnetting, practiced commands at a level were you can pinpoint the information you need from them (I did it with GNS3 for routers and Packet Tracer for Switches), and studied from a good book (Odom or McQuerry, because the other popular option fell a little short. (Lammle)). You will be in a good track to pass.

I passed both test with 2 weeks between them. I had previous experience.
I have read comments of people waiting months to take the ICND2. My suggestion is not to take them with too much time between them.

Well, good luck to everyone and thanks 9tut. I will be in the forums for CCNA Security now. And hopefully in the next couple of months, in CCNP.

yes it works during my time. I(show run)
    @Rick
I studied full-time for two weeks(approximately 1 week each ICND’s). I was motivated to study hard because I really need it on my next job assignment. First, I wanted to schedule ICND2 this coming Monday but looks like my job schedule will not allow me to do it on Monday. So I decided to take exam on Friday since no available schedule in my area on Saturday.

The show run command works for the vtp sim. Some people mentioned that they were not able to see the default-gateway on the sim, but it is in there. Just keep pressing ‘space’ to see further.

Sigo, what was your score? Where you even close? Which SIMS did you get?

for the vtp sim, i used the “show running-config” command on the switch and went all the way down, no default gateway, I did later test this on my home lab switch “show ip default-gateway” is a command you can use. I will try this again 2-27 when i take the ICND2 test again.

On the sims, while taking the exam, be ABSOLUTELY CERTAIN that you enter a COPY RUN START command when you are finished making changes. The score is calculated using the STARTUP-CONFIG. If you did not save the changes, you WILL NOT get credit for the sim.
