Just passed ICND2 this afternoon – 944/100…VTP sim, frame relay hotspot, a couple of drag and drops (eigrp versus osp and 2 acl’s), a couple of explaining routes questions. A few IPv6 and some subnet questions. I used “Cisco.Lead2Pass.640-816.v2012-10-13.by.Anonymous.247q”, “Cisco.ActualTests.640-802.v2012-07-15.by.Sekhar.697q” and of course 9tut!!! All the questions are still on the exam and a big thanks to 9tut!!

Hey guys and girls. Just wanted to throw this out there. My company is looking for a few low-mid level Cisco techs. I used this site heavily a few months ago to get my ENT/NA and am now working on my NA-V and I thought as a pay it forward I’d offer the jobs to you guys. If you’re in the St. Louis, MO area and you’d like a little more info shoot me an email at jruessing@adb-us.com.

    February 10th, 2013

I’m working throught CBT Nuggets ICND2, have to say I expected more Switching
Seems it focusses more on routing, which I’m not complaining about.

I’ve noticed people complaining CBT Nuggets ICND2 is a waste of time, I see as it giving me a good foundation to work from.
After watching CBT nuggets iCND1 I found it easy to understand the ICND1 book, and I believe it will be the same again with ICND2

After I’m finished with video and book I will practice for atleast a week and then concentrate on 9tut and Daniel VCE for another week or 2.

To study Cisco there is only the right way, watch the movie, read the book, practice a lot, then use the GREAT resources like 9tut and Daniel VCE – in my quest for knowledge a leave no stone unturned !

Pissed.com I took the exam today and scored a 818 and needed a 825. I felt like I knew the material but some of the wording of the questions was unclear. I didnt feel like I fully understood what they were looking for on some questions. I’m preparing to go back next week and try again. I used the Network Visualizer software, Boson Network,Wendall Odom ICND2 book. It was alot of questions on OSPF, a few on access lists, NAT, EIGRP, Frame Relay,

    February 14th, 2013

    Passed. 944/1000. Thanks 9tut!
    Studied:
Went through all 9tut.net questions and SIMS. Cisco Lead2pass 640-816 v2012-05-15 by Daniel 232q.vce from http://www.examcollection.com (you have to show answers on the SIM’s and drag and drops to see solution. I did a screen capture, added them to powerpoint, put letters in front of possible selections on one column, and numbers on the other, then played match the letter to the number. In total had 25 drag and drops to practice.) I spent the $29.99 for the Visual CertExam Suite Designer + Manager, well worth it because used it on both ICND1&2. You still must understand the concepts of networking!

https://www.9tut.net/icnd2/ospf-questions these single questions were bundled in a SIM, not hard, just wasn’t expecting to see it that way. Frame-relay SIM was easy, I would swear that the address they used in the question was a typo. It was something like what DLCI would be used for xx.xx.4.4 address, and all the avilable address to DLCI was xx.xx.0.4, stared at that for a bit… Just use show frame-relay map and running-config as 9tut says.

Anyways, on to CCNP! Good luck all!

VTP Lab, OSPF multiple question, Frame relay as well, but in frame ralay sim there is a question that its not in the sim from 9tut.com. it was hard for me to figure it out, drag and drop Frame relay terminology (LMI,PVC,DTE<lMI), Ipv6 from 5 to 7 question, I studied Todd Lammle CCNA 640-802 (7th Edition), CBT Nuggets, packet tracer and danscourses and his youtube channel. Next Stop CCNP. Thank you 9tut.net and your team….

Frame-relay here http://www.9tut.com/ccna-hotspot-questions, but you must to use only “show running-config” and “show frame-relay map” command. It’s easy sim. In my case this sim had one mistake with displaying ip address.

Hey IT people. Jus passed my exam yest Feb 22. I had The VTP sim with the admin_2 switch config and the Frame Relay hotspot with the multinational branches. There were about 4 IPV6 questions including “which ipv6 address is the all-router multicast group”. Plenty of switch vlan questions but all the questions I have seen here. THANKS 9tut

HI All, I took the exam last Friday, 22 feb. I got the vtp sim where you have to configure the new switch with an management ip. The same as on this website however they where asking to configure the new switch with the first available host ip address. The switch that was there already had 192.168.111.66 255.255.255.224 with a default gateway of 192.168.111.25 so I gave the new switch an ip of 192.168.111.27. Not sure if that is correct but I thought I cannot give the new switch the same ip of the default gateway. Als the frame-relay sim was there with the same kind of questions but some other ip and dlci values. Got a lot if questions which you can find in http://www.examcollection.com/640-816.html. Also the same drag and drop questions. Some questions regarding ipv6 but not that many. It was not that difficult if you know the stuff. Good luck..

    February 24th, 2013

Regarding my previous entry. I made a mistake, the correct info is : The switch that was there already had 192.168.111.66 255.255.255.224 with a default gateway of 192.168.111.65 so I gave the new switch an ip of 192.168.111.67. Sorry for the wrong info.

    Hello all,

I just took my exam and scored a 986. Every question on my test except 2 were are on 9tut. There were no modifications, or changes to those question that are here. The 2 questions that were not on 9tut were part of the OSPF hot spot. I cannot recall word for word, but the first one asked how many routes the main router would have via learned OSPF. The other question asked how I could affect the route traffic takes to reach a certain network. Cost and bandwidth are the correct answers. The topology of the OSPF hot spot did not change, and the other 3 questions are here on 9tut. I cannot recall all of the questions, and I will only give the advice of studying not only the ICND2 section, but also the CCNA section of this site. I will also say that the premium membership provides you access to some good material as well. Get the premium, it’s worth it, and this 9tut person or group has definitely earned it.

Thank you 9tut. I know all of the material very well, and I can set any configuration a CCNA level technician should be able to set, but with the amount of curveballs that Cisco likes to throw I do not believe that I would have reached this score without this site.

    February 24th, 2013

To add to my last comment. I used the Wendell Odem book, and the Pearson Lab simulator. The labs that come with the simulator in my opinion do not properly prepare you for what you will see on the exam. I did have the VTP sim, and it prepared me for that, but anything related to Frame Relay was learned through self labs.

Self Labs: Picturing a topology in your head, then doing the documentation, and then configuring it within the simulator. This is the best way to learn, and you are more likely to figure out what works, what does not, and why.

  42. Hdawg
    February 24th, 2013

Passed the exam yesterday with 958. Really easy since I knew all the material really well. Had VTP/configure switch sim, EIGRP (fix AS) and ACL configure using only 3 lines. IPv6 only was asked list valid IPs, methods for transition (dual stack, tunnel, nat), and multicast address for RIPng. No OSPF, EIGRP or WAN sims, but had an OSPF and EIGRP hotspot. Although there were not many straight up subnet questions, I would guess at least 60% of the questions, including the hotspot and sims, you need to fully understand subnetting which is an essential skill anyways. Exam is really easy if you know your stuff. Luckily I do switching and ACLs daily at work. Not much routing, but the exam only requires you to know the basics.

  43. Hdawg

Also, GNS3 was a lifesaver. You really see the debuts compared to the meager debug options in packet tracer.

Before you start your exam what you can do is write down sub-netting table (if not complete then half should be enough) and also few important commands. Following is an example and you can use Excel to create the entire table; this saved me alot of time and calculation 🙂

    Increment /25 /26 /27 /28 /29 /30 /31 /32
    # HOSTS 128 64 32 16 8 4 2 1
    Mask 128 192 224 240 248 252 254 255
    # SubNets 2 4 8 16 32 64 128 256
    0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0
    128 64 32 16 8 4 2 1

Only sims were VTP branch1 and 2 sim and Frame-relay multi-national core. I took this exam two Fridays back to back. Passed with 930 second time around. My advice would be to prepare with a study guide by Lammle and Odem if you feel collegiate. then practice, practice, practice. Know subnetting in your head. Practice makes perfect.

Im taking my icnd2 exam on Thursday Mar14. Ive been using 9tut and how2pass and Wendell Odom study guide.. is the Daniel Dump necessary to pass this or am I good with these 3? Has anyone notice new questions?

    @ Biscuit Bound

Studying the material in and out is what should be enough, you should not just be relying on dumps alone.

Know it all like the back of your hand from studies such as Wendell Book and video training (CBT or Chris Bryant) if possible and then maybe use these other options just as a way of confirming what you should know.

How are the questions scored on the CCENT? Can you miss part of a question and still get points? Thanks DD

Well, it’s time… gonna sign up to test Next Friday. Pretty calm having pased the first half (first cert ever) so i at least know what to expect. And I’m doing the same thing… PRAYING HARD, study the Odom books and 9tut and How2pass.com for active sims….. they post the latest updates to questions and new questions as well….Just use repetition and consistent study in your weaker areas and you will be fine. Weekends (Saturday) is usually a FULL DAY STUDYFEST for me when I prep. Looking forward to success!

I am writing this exam Friday morning. I have been using both CBT, Chris Bryant and VTC.com for video training; I have the Odom hardcovers ( 3rd edition); Todd Lammle CCNA (2nd editon); Exam Cram Practice Questions for ICND2 ( 3rd edition); Freeccnaworkbook; Rene Molenaar ebooks. I have the Boson practice exams and visual cert engine (paid edition). I have also been using GNS3 with 3 real switches ( WC3560-G) plugged into it for spanning tree stuff. I can do all of the Boson questions blindfolded now and I have watched all of the video stuff, some areas more than once. I can do questions from subnettingquestions.com in my sleep now. The only resource I have left until last is the dumps and the VCE exams from examcollectin.

I have the most recent one for ICND2 loaded up and am going through it. The reason I tend to leave them to last is that you don’t get an explanation for why the answer is what it is. By this point, though,I know the material pretty well so that’s not a huge problem, but it’s nice to get the big explanations that you do with the Boson simulator.

I am fairly weak on IPv6 and vpn protocols. How important are these in the recent exams? Another question, the vce simulator, is it supposed to do drag and drops? I am guessing not..right?

    Thanks

Which sims are common for icnd2? VTP, OSPF, NAT, ACL? It gets a bit confusing on this site sometimes and I’m not sure if I’m practicng a lab that wouldnt appear on the icnd2 exam or not.

I passed the exam, I had vtp sim, ospf questions and frame relay hotspot (from ccna).
some people call ospf hotspot and they make me confused.

read your books, read the questions from 9tut and Dump and you are will have 100% success

Passed ICND2. Aside from reading Odom’s guide, used 9tut and Lead2Pass which were very helpful. A combination of both will give about 95% similarity (not exact as eg. the subnets or scenarios were modified). Got VTP configuration sim, Hotspot Frame Relay and an OSPF sim I had not come across before.

Failed icnd2 with an 807.. Had lots op ipv6 and nat/acl stuff. vtp, frame relay and ospf sim were there.does anyone know if its free to re-take and is it the same exact test?

  94. arcadius
    March 15th, 2013

Passed this morning. Not terribly happy with my score, I thought I was doing better while going through it, only got an 846. One question, though, was a long multiple choice with router output, and the test software would not let me scroll down to see all the options. That was annoying.

I had the Frame Relay sim, vtp sim, ospf hotspot, lots of ipv6 ( hence why my lower score), some nat and acl that I thought I pegged but my report shows %50 in that area. Some protocol drag and drops. Not too much subnetting. My last question was a VLSM drag and drop onto an exhibit–piece of cake if you are fluent with vlsm. A couple of Spanning-Tree questions and 4 or 5 questions I didn’t recognize, most likely from the CCNA section of this site.

One learning tip that I could offer is while labs are very, very important, don’t rely solely on them. I have a lot of fun building environments in GNS3 and probably spent too much time doing that. It’s easy enough to throw 4 or 5 routers into a topology and enable a working routing protocol with the default settings and watch the packets flow and think, cool I can do EIGRP or OSPF, etc. But then you will be lacking in the theory behind the protocol and may struggle with questions like drag and drops that are asking about the protocol details.

I mostly used Chris Bryants’ ebook and videos. I also used CBT nuggets before the Bryant stuff and they are both great, but I think I actually like the Bryant stuff a bit more. Plus the accompanying book is good. Though one of my favourite things, not so much for exam prep, is the CBT Nugget for the Network Warrior book. A great book and a great CBT. I did use the Todd Lammle book, it was good, but I don’t use big fat text books that much for this stuff. I prefer hands on labs and videos. I do have the benefit of live gear at work. We always have a few switches lying around that I can plug into my GNS3 server.

And, or course, 9tut was a very useful resource. But you still need to know the material.

    Cisco Master,

It is my BIG day tomorrow, finally taking my second part of CCNA. My brain is fried, I’ve been studying for so long that I was dreaming yesterday about VLSM subnetting and Frame Relay(no kidding).

I’m super nervous because of the amount of energy I put in, hope that will let help me tomorrow. Any last minute suggestions/recommendations would you have for me besides time being your enemy?

Thank you and I will update asap.

    Regards,

Passed ICND2 – today 45 questions, 75 mins, 825 to pass. VTP SIM, Dubai Router Testlet (Numbers were changed) , STP based questions from 9tut, and the Oct12 dump from examcollections.com is legit and questions appeared. thanks god!!!
If you know the frame relay concepts such as pvc, lmi, dlci and answer those questions quickly you should be fine with rest of the questions considering you have practiced the rest atleast a few times.

If preparing in last minute pls make sure you study all the questions in 9tut thoroughly, also a good place to start as they have explanations for majority of questions to refresh your memory for concepts.
