Hi Guys!
Can someone please clarify if this earlier post from the vtp lab sim page is correct,”Today (8/7/2013) I got the same lab on my ICND2. But IP address was changed. 192.168.53.128/27 subnet was used for management network. And ask to assign the first available IP address to building_2. 192.168.53.129 was the default gateway for building 1 and it’s interface vlan 1 had the 192.168.53.130. So I assign 192.168.53.131 for building_2 interface vlan 1.”
Can someone tell me please how to calculate the first available IP address of the management subnet to configure on the new switch?
according to this post the first available IP to be used is 192.168.53.131, SHOULDN’T it be 192.168.53.130, if the management IP is 192.168.53.128/27, and the default gateway is 192.168.53.129
the calculation would be:
network number: 192.168.53.128
broadcast number: 192.168.53.159
if .128 is reserved for the management ip and .129 for the default gateway, logically it should be .130 used for the first available address, please i am new to this so somebody please clarify, i’m taking the test soon and i’m puzzled.
Thank u
Hey guys, does anyone know where the Frame Relay SIM is?
is there a link for the ospf simlet?
@max20 – .128 would be the network address, therefore the DG would be.129 and VLAN1 of building_1 .130… So you would configure .131 to VLAN1 on building_2.
hey guys is there anywhere else to buy icnd2 640-816 vouchers from besides getcertified4less and itexamvoucher ?
Sorry but not getting your point, In another scenario I saw,
the management IP is: building_1 IP was 192.168.80.34 255.255.255.224
building_1 default gateway was: 192.168.80.33
hence, I calculate the network id: 192.168.30.32 so therefore, since .34 is reserved for Vlan 1 in building 1, i skip it, then also .33 is the default gateway, i also skip it, and come to 192.168.80.35 to be used for Vlan 1 in the new switch I understand this logic completely.
What I can’t seem to understand is the example above: MGMT IP: 192.168.53.128 /27 Default Gateway 192.168.53.129
Sorry but it may seem a simple question, but can you tell me in detail the process in getting .131 as the first available address? Please HELP, I just can’t figure it out!
I think I got it now, what the writer said was: ,”Today (8/7/2013) I got the same lab on my ICND2.
I think he wanted to say, the IP address of the MGMT subnet (interface VLAN1) was .130 therefore the network address would be .128 and the default gateway .129 and therefore since .129 is reserved for the DG, I skip it, and since .130 is used for the MGMT Vlan 1, skip it, and so .131 would be the first available address for the new switch. I think I understand now,sorry if I confused anyone.
I think I had the same exam and SIMs as “ICND2” and also failed, Passing score was 840 I found tab key was disabled and ? didn’t work in SIMS- I think it warned at beggining it only worked at first level of prompt. All SIMS were in first 3rd of exam Q’s which messes with your time managemnt if you struggle with them (and I did) but you can’t skip or you fail for sure. (I completely missed the .2 .3 .4 .5 notations at the Multinational Core for awhile and just stared at the show frame relay map forever wondering how i was supposed to get it :$ )
4-5 IP 6 Q regarding broadcast addy’s. compression, “is this an IP4 address or what starts an IP 4 address” V6 loopback addy, tunnel tyoe
NAT q effect of changing existing acl from inbound to outbound . Blocking web browsing
ROS- 3 of required interfaces and PC GW addy
Which show frame map option will reveal what
Drag and drop masks based on # of hosts IP requirement Q
Even some ICND1 stuff like cable types- so if its been a while since that
I took the 640-816 exam today and passed with a high 9xx. I used 9tut ICND 2 and the 640-816 Lead2pass-640-816-HeavyMod vce. I had the VTP lab, the frame-relay multi questions from section I, the drag and drops (holdown timers, split horizion, etc), IP subnetting, and security features.
Thank you again everyone I really needed this
In my past experience with the icnd1 when i fixed a lab sim i was getting wrong i went from failing to pass. on my icnd2 i had 5-6 ipv6 questions , i struggled on the show frame-relay map sim. i had the how many routes would be in the main routing table question. split horizon hold down timer drag n drop. VTP sim i forgot to do a copy running-config startup config on the new switch , but i could ping all the way to the gateway before i clicked next. i had questions up to about question 25 then i started getting sims and my last sim was the vtp sim at question 45.
@ICND2
These IPV6 Questions were they check which are valid addresses or were they generic general IPV6 knowledge type questions?

nuggets, got VTP sim, Frame realy sim, quite a few ACL questions and about 6 drag and drops. Thought had failed. Good luck to all
@ICND2 – F is not correct in that problem.
Hi can someone confirm what VTP sim they are getting please? Is it the one on 9tut.net(ICDN2) or 9tut.com (CCNA)
Thanks
was there any nat sims on there ?
@Gaz – The ICND2 one.

Guys, which dupms is valid now. I am going to take a exam next week. Please help!
I took the test yesterday and passed it with 916!! Thanks to 9Tut. Really helped me a lot. I got 45 questions and 75 minutes to complete it. The very 1st questions was a sim. Damn! That was my reaction. It was the VTP sim seen here on 9Tut. Same scenario, different IP addresses. Got the Frame Relay one too. No config needed but you have to know the commands to answer the 4 questions. Got another one like that with EIGRP scenerio. Didn’t see that one from here. It was completely new. Also got maybe 10 drag and drops. All same one from here. All the others questions were from here as well. The same questions or very similar with addresses changed and the answers re-arranged. Know your subnetting. It will help you if you get the VTP lab and a few multiple choice questions with topologies involved. I almost ran out of time. I took way too long to do the VTP lab because I was nervous and didn’t want to move on until I got it all right. Make sure to ping the furthest device on the network when you’re doing the lab sim. That should confirm your config is correct. Don’t forget to save it!! That’s all I remember. Hope this helps somewhat. Good luck to you all.
@Broffredo
For the 1 question VLSM of the http://www.9tut.com/ccna-drag-and-drop-questions
Did it give you different IP addresses than the one on 9tut? If so, how is one supposed to reach this calculation?
Good Day All –
I passed the ICND2, thanks to HeavyMod dump dump and 9tut. I had the VTP sim, the Frame Relay sim (4 questions, but 2 were new I dont remember what they were) and 1 D&D (boot sequence). The questions were 95% from this dump.
Thanks to everyone for their help!
hi all, passed icnd2 on the 10th. Thank God, thank you 9tut. all the best
on the new questions in the sim asking about how many routes will be in the main router was this an eigrp simlet?
@ Unknown_Territory – The Subnets were different. You need to study VLSM to be able to answer correctly. It’s very easy once you do a few practice problems.
Every Buddy saying Frame Relay Sim but i did seen can any body guide me what Frame Relay Sim your saying Thanks
I think this is the frame relay sim everyone is talking about
http://www.9tut.com/ccna-hotspot-questions
Passed last week, with IMHO an easier exam, If you get the one with the higher passing score you better know ur stuff. Has OSPF, VTP and frame relay SIMS or simlets where you have to either use show commands or actually configure (VTP). Lots of IPV6 stuff
If you get the one with the lower passing mark I think it’s easier (VTP and frame relay SIMS or simlets) despite the lower score. Lots of ACL stuff but multiple choice type.
Increase your chance with knowing the reasoning behind VTP and Frame/ LMI Q’s here. Don’t memorize just learn why as Q&A change. D/L every SIM you can find here and do it- don[t just look at how its done online
Frame Relay Q5 http://www.9tut.com/ccna-hotspot-questions
VTP SIM here https://www.9tut.net/category/icnd2/icnd2-labsim
Either way the hard Q’s (SIMS(lets) came early so don’t panic, there are 2-3. You have to do them but leave a minute or so for each multiple choice- keep watching the clock- it’s not your friend and it is.
Study from at least two sources + this site which is great for seeing what you’ll face, but you have to learn it not memorize it! Use packet tracer (or GNS3 ) and buy at least a 2 router (3 is preferable) 2 switch lab if you can. Set multiple home pages on your browser to auto-open the areas you are weak on to save time searching and close as completed. Every day!
I think this is accurate but create your own (formating gets messed up). You need to get this down cold, and really must use the magic # method to figure most stuff quickly Also use 255 minus subnet mask to get wildcard mask. Write this on an area of your sheet that you dont touch to save time, and check it once first to rely on it! Hint wildcard mask is also double +1 right to left

Passed today with 888. Not great, but a pass is a pass. All I have to say is memorize all these questions. Time was a non-factor. I had the VTP sim, and the Frame Relay. Lots of drag n drop, but they were all from this site. I also used Heavy’s dump. Everyone was covered. I think for a few the answers were rearranged, but that was the only problem. I have to mention that I have been studying for 4 months straight since getting my CCENT to get this cert. I only used this as a supplemental source. Yes you can pass just by memorizing this, but I can’t imagine it would look good on the job. Thank you 9tut. You made me study more and find out why I was wrong on exam questions.
Passed today with a score of 916 after two weeks of studying. I primarily used 9tut to become familiar with the labs, CBT nuggets, and read the ICND2 cisco press book. Good luck to everyone else who is soon to test.
@Lahmesauze
congratulation
can u pls tell me which icnd 2 u done?i mean old one or new one?
and tell what kind of sims u had?
thank u..
I passed today thanks to 9tut.The Lab was VTP,IPV6 to 4 questions,Frame Relay (study the notes and know how to config them) used Heavy mod…I got 902!!!!!CCNP here I come
ASD thanks …did the old one 640 816…CCNP here I come!
VTP sim,Frame-relay configuration(go understand the topic and commands)Identify 4 vaid IPV6 address,RSTP exhibit,drag and drop(where you locate which address& subnet is vaild for 58 host….and many more.I had 45 questions
@Zambia
for the frame relay did you actually have to configure a frame relay switch, or do you mean use the show commands to ans the question
For Hello
The Frame was just like here- just have to use show frame map and show run to answer Q’s
NO config you just have to use the commands to answer the Sim….nothing much believe me just study the topic you will manage.
What blows me away are frame relay questions, working in a corp network. 600 plus locations “stores” and 509 corp locations. 0 frame relay circuits… lame
50 corp locations, my bad
Passed last week with 944 and dump still valid. There were lots of drag and drops, some here and some not. The ones not on 9tut or in the dump were about ACL’s so make sure you now what you are doing with them and you will be Ok. There was also a new OSPF sim like the VTP sim so know OSPF.
thanks
@GAZ
congratulation…
can u tell me which exam number u done?old or new?
Just passed the 640-816 exam this AM with 950+. Every question was from the Heavymod271 set (note a few of the questions and/or answers in that set are incorrect, but they are obvious).
Got the VTP sim (https://www.9tut.net/icnd2/icnd2-labsim/vtp-configuration-sim#more-129) and the Frame-Relay hotspot (http://www.9tut.com/ccna-hotspot-questions). On the FR, the questions were the same, but CHAP was configured for the question about the password. Also needed to do “sh ip route” to answer the one about the DLCI used for a packet sent to an ip address specified in the question.
Only a few drag/drop questions, and only a few ipv6 questions.

Passed ICND2 today with 860 – Absolutely thrilled and relieved to get through it. 75 mins and 45 Qs. VTP with first available and Frame Relay. This site, Wendell Odum book cover to cover, CBT nuggets and Heavy Mod…thank you all!
I’m a CCNA!
any one remember the ospf questions they got? icnd2 v1
ospf:
Exam/Question References below are from the HeavyMod271 set:
One ospf-related question was Exam C Q18 (which is the same as exam E Q22) – with a diagram containing 3 routers interconnected by a switch. It asks what config tasks could be done to cause RouterB to be preferred as the DR (choose 3 answers).
Also got Exam E Q2, which shows an ospf setup with 4 routers and a switch, and asks which address on R1 would be selected as the RID.
Also got the one about sending Hello packets every 10 sec to maintain ospf connectivity.
Also got the one listing the results from a “sh ip int br” command, asking you to pick the IP address that OSPF would use for the RID.
Also got Exam E Q6, which asks you to choose 2 answers describing the process ID used to run ospf in a router.
Last one I can remember is the one asking you to choose 2 drawbacks of implementing link-state routing.
@nobody-nohow
Thanks for telling us which ospf questions you got. But can you tell us the breakdown of the test (i.e. which parts of the Heavymod dump did the test focus on). Secondly, can you tell us how many and which specific drag and drop you got. Thanks
Had anyone done the ICND2 this week? Which labs do you had? Thanks.
i believe after highest priority the highest RID wins the DR. which is highest numeric ip right?
took it yesterday – Had the OSPF/EIGRP Drag n Drop. Had the DnD with console/password/vty. chap authentication one. I think they were the only 2 drag n drops. Had 2 SIMs. VTP , Frame Relay. Almost all Qs from Heavy Mod. Quite a lot of IPv6 ones but nothing too tricky. VTP was looking for first available address. Frame Relay had different DLCI values. Just remembered another D n D… easy one where you had to add the IP range to routers based on number of users – hoe that makes sense
@nobody-nohow – I got one question wrong (i think) on the exam (986) and I think that “sh ip route” on the FR sim is what got me. I thought they made a mistake on the ip address or something. It didn’t seem right. I should have used that command to answer that last question!
Thanks for pointing that out. Just goes to show that you really do need to know your stuff.
I already started studying for my CCNP Route exam. GNS3 is great for that!
can you put links to what they are Had the OSPF/EIGRP Drag n Drop. Had the DnD with console/password/vty. chap authentication
Passed ICND2 today with a 972. Used this site and heavymod dump.
Great site, accurate questions and answers, helped me a ton.
@Broffredo
What are you guys talking about when you say, do a ‘sh ip route’ command. The example on http://www.9tut.com/ccna-hotspot-questions just asks to do a ‘sh frame-relay map’ & ‘sh run’ to get the DCLI and other required info. Can you tell us what the last question asked and why you said ‘they made a mistake on the ip address’. Thanks
when i took ,my icnd2 i got an 804 /825 i was low on routing so im going back and studying it just sucks to be so close.
@ospf
Was there any other section/factors besides routing that you didnt fare well with? Cuz sometimes time can cause you to make some small slips that unfortunately add up.
I did my ICND2 today and got 100%. I studied hard for a month and a bit. Watched CBTNuggets to get into it and then read Cisco Press ICND2 book cover to cover and made sure i understood all concepts and took lots of notes. I also did some practice exams to get into the type of questions cisco asks and how they try to trick you.
I got the VTP sim and a frame relay sim the frame relay there was one question that asked what data link layer destination address will be used to send data to 172.16.4.4. But could not find a trace of that network anywhere, so i assumed they where talking about 172.16.0.4 and chose that dlci. There was also an ospf sim.
Only advice i can give you is dont underestimate the exam, read every question and every answer carefully and explain to yourself why you chose that answer above another.
I have my ICNS2 scheduled for Saturday – Wish me luck
Also writing mine tomorrow
hi ,any one can give icnd2 dump location…
Passed today with 944.. VTP sim, Frame relay testlet. Lots of drag and drops.
Study hard and you will pass. I went on an icnd2 instructor led official training and then study from cbt nuggets and 9tut.
Hi guys, Im looking for VCE new version, heavy mode doesnt work with the old version.
Thanks in advance.
VCE version 3?
Thanks 9tut. Passed today w/ 972, Hotspot, VTP, Frame Relay and 3 DND questions but different IP’s.
@Greg @booga1004
congratulations guys,
can u tell me which exam number u did?
thanks..
did my exam today 640-816 passed with score 902…most of the questions came from HEavymod dump from examcollect and from 9tut. I got the exam same sim VTP and frame realy from 9tut.net icnd 2 section.. you have to do ‘show frame-relay map’ and show running-config to answer the questions. a lot of ipv6 questions. if you study the dump you will have no issues at all. the ? worked on the sim questions for me. couple of drag and drop.. the one about split horizon, hold down town and so on.
just like how others said, make sure you know your stuff, don’t just memorize the answers. if you do know your stuff you will be fine.
you can download the VCE from kat.ph. there where I downloaded it from.
I have ICND 2 exam in 3 less then hours
Also got 902
6-8 IPv6 questions
A good few questions that I have never seen
A few different answers to familiar questions
Frame-Relay Sim, HotSpot and VTP setup sim
3 Drag n Drops
Used ICND2 book, CBT nuggets, YouTube, 9tut and Heavymod
Understand the material DON’T study the answers
Passed the INCD2 test
For the SIM, I had the VTP SIM, but only asked to program the domain name and make it a client.
Many of the questions here are on the test, just make sure to memorize the answer because the answers aren’t in the same order as the web site and other test materials you maybe using.
Thanks 9TUT for this web site, it definitely helped.
Passed today 902/1000. Lots of weird questions not on this site or on the dump I was working with. Had vtp sim, frame relay, lots of WAN questions. This site definitely helped big. Most of all with acl questions. Be sure you know your STP and also rip v2. Thanks and Godspeed everyone!
Angry Owl I think me and u got the same pool of questions
200-101 Passed on friday 98X/1000.
3 Labs (EIGRP,OSPF with 6 routers,frame-relay) but only check the confi to reply the questions.
Dump I was using (Cristiano2013-06-26 and Spike2013-07-22)were 80% ok. Some new questions about OSPF and Netflow.
Lab tutorials used 9tut and it was really helpfull. (Just missing the Lab with 6 routers)
As usual even if you know the subject the new questions are always strange and confusing.
@p@lp
congratulation
ospf with 6 routers or 5 routers ?(in this site only 5 routers and 1 switch)
and what lab missing? eigrp?
pls give me the idea about that
thanks
I am taking the 640-816 ICND2 exam tomorrow morning and I keep seeing that everyone is getting a Frame Relay SIM…however, I cannot find anything about this SIM. Am I missing something? I have aced Heavy Mod’s dump, I feel pretty good on the ACL, VTP, OSPF and EIGRP SIM’s but now I am worried about this Frame Relay SIM that I cannot locate nor do I feel comfortable with! HHHHHHEEEEEELLLLLLLPPPPPPP!
Do they mean the VTP SIM?
Over 950 better than ICND1 I took this exam on the 20th and win CCNA. I don’t think I saw a question that was not here in these pages. Whoever does this is a true hero.
Try the frame-relay testlet over at 9tut.com I was doing all the questions from over there too. Just the one concerning ICND2 wan, routing protocols, stp etc….
http://www.9tut.com/ccna-hotspot-questions
Frame Relay Sim
Sh run and sh frame-relay map answers the questions
A easy “sim”, if you understand the concept
with this exam being retired end of Sept, does anyone have any info on its replacement? And content? I’ve got it booked for 30th Sept! Last day. If I fail, I guess that’s it – I would have to book the new exam? Anyone know? Thanks
3rd and inches ya’ll going back for another shot tomorrow
Yay Passed, Thanks 9tut.
Just to help others i had
http://www.9tut.com/ccna-drag-and-drop-questions Question 1:
http://www.9tut.com/ccna-hotspot-questions Hotspot Frame-relay Question ( but Was a sim so had to use Show Run and Show Frame-relay map)
also to answer one of its questions i used Show ip route with the Frame-relay map command as it was asking what DLCI will it use to get to 192.168.4.4, as that was a ip address that was not connected to that main router the Show ip route told me 192.168.0.4 would be the ip address you would use to get to 4.0 network so the DLCI of 192.168.0.4 was the answer..if that makes sense
Also had https://www.9tut.net/icnd2/icnd2-labsim/vtp-configuration-sim#more-129
Had a few from https://www.9tut.net/icnd2/ospf-questions ( was in a hot spot)
will try and think of more
Know your IPv6 Stuff.
a video from Jeremy will explain you the changes between the old and the new CCNA.
http://tekcert.com/blog/2013/03/27/ccna-2013-now-its-real
^ cheers man, useful
Passed with 972 and thank God. This site is very valid. Got VTP configuration (configure the ip add, ip default-gateway, vtp domain and vtp mode of the new router), Frame-relay Simlet question (using only the sh frame-relay map and sh run), OSPF Simlet question (Kinda different compared to this dump but if you study hard and you know the concept you can’t go wrong), couple of IPV6 questions and a bunch of ACL.
Going for the CCNP! Goodluck exam takers!
I took ICND-2 yesterday and got nailed with neflow, syslog and GLBP questions. Anyone else seeing these?
Did u sit for 640-816?
Provably u r talking about new 200-101 (ICND2). Isn’t it?
1 hour until ICND2.. Have studied with materials from Todd Lammle, Chris Bryant, and Wendell Odom. Also enjoy referencing IOS commands from the CCNA Portable Command Guide.. And used the Boson labs, and 101 Labs for the Cisco CCNA Exam by Paul W Browning with my 3 – Cisco 2950 switches, 1 – Cisco 2501 router, and 2 – Cisco 2600 Routers.. Searched a lot with Google and read lots of forums..
Cleared ICND2 this morning with score in upper 900’s !! I got the VTP sim and frame relay sim. Frame relay sim was just using show commands to answer 5 questions, no configuration was needed. Make sure you understand access-lists ! I got 3 or 4 drag and drops, the one i can remember off hand was the one using VLSM. Many questions from this site appeared on my exam. I used Odom book (read cover to cover), packet tracer, 9tut, CBT nuggets. A huge thanks to 9tut ! On to CCNP !

Got home – I failed.
Sat ICND2 today, passed with 874. Actually did a course for a year, 4 hours once a week. Watched all the CBT Nuggets, and read this site and completed the labs. Understand the concepts, and study hard and you will be fine.
Had the VTP sim and frame relay sim, 1 D&D which was VLSM, lots of IPv6, ACL’s and OSPF questions, there were a couple of questions I have never seen on any site, so understanding the concepts is imperative. Very happy to have passed, as I needed it for my job 😀 CCNA Security next, then onto the CCNP.
Have my test in an hour as well..
Passed today with 916. Frame relay with 172.30.4.4 ip, OSPF sim with two new questions and VTP simple sim. 2- 3 new questions. Used Heavymod dump.
Only one month left for this….go for it new one will be hard. Good luck all
Passed yesterday with 958, sims were the frame-relay(use show command), VTP new switch and the OSPF hotspot (just topology no commands). Saw alot of VLSM questions so remember your subnetting.
hello. Would appreciate any current dumps for the ICND 2 exam. thanks in advance. tstables@yahoo.com
Hey guys! took the exam and passed yesterday – the VTP and Frame Relay sims were on there as some of the others are reporting, also several questions from the EIGRP, HotSpot, OSPF, and RIP sections were on there as well (multiple choice, drag and drop).
Just wanted to say thanks to all for their feedback and special thanks to Mr Tut for making this information available, it was a huge help!
I used Todd Lammle’s recent edition, CBT nuggets, and of course 9Tut tutorials and practice questions *forgot to mention in earlier post*
Passed on friday with 930 points in 20 minutes. Two labs -> vtp and frame relay. Now 2 years silent.
Passed 2 days ago with 972, was a fairly straight forward exam, but i got the feeling that they really want you to know you routing and wan technologies with a good foundation on IPv6. My whole exam was FR, OSPF, ipv6 and EIGRP. I got little to nothing of the other sections like VTP STP etc…and the ones that i got was pretty easy to work out.
